    Holland Taylor is a marvel. Have loved her for years. That fact that she is playing Ann Richards is double the fun because I was a big fan of hers as well.

    Now that was good.. Even the late Ann's son has mentioned that Holland Taylor nailed it.

    I'm quite impressed and I hope to get to NYC to catch Holland's one woman show before September. We desperately miss Ann. Thank you for keeping her spirit alive. RIP Governor.

    I have previously expressed my respect for Governor Ann Richards.
    As to Holland Taylor, I first became aware of her work on "Bosom Buddies". She's a top notch comedic actress and A Damn Fine Good Looking Woman and such is perfect for this part. My hat is off to her!

    No one's commented on this? Really?
    Theatre is the means by which the spirits of people long dead may be brought back to life. This is eerie to watch inasmuch as it is riveting.

      7 years old comment; dunno if you'll see this. I'm just viewing this Ann Richards/Holland Taylor video after looking up "Ann" referenced in an article about the Broadway revival of "Front Page", itself over three years old. But anyhow, this portrayal is amazing, as was Ann, and both women are somewhat new to me. I liked your comment about theater being the way "spirits of people long dead may be brought back to life." She really became the former Gov. of Texas.

    Holland Taylor has my respect as an actress. Ann Richards was a force of nature. That these two women should meet on the stage..well, hey!!!

    It just gets better everytime I watch this. I don't know whether Ann Richards obviiously had something to say to us today (pretty sure she did) or whether it is Taylor Holland's rendition of Ms. Richards that ages so well. Oh, who the hell cares, good is just good!

  • @простадівчина

    On the You Tube page of "The Rosie (O'Donnell) Show" that airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) there is this--
    "Ann Richards is the former Texas governor who once said President George W. Bush was 'born with a silver foot in his mouth.' Now, Emmy award-winning actress Holland Taylor is paying tribute to Richards in a one-woman show she wrote and produced. Watch as Holland reveals how the idea for the play Ann came to her in the car."

    I saw ‘Ann’ a couple of weeks ago in Austin, at Zach Scott. The actress (Libby Villari) portraying Governor Richards was SO much better than this performance.
    I suppose Holland Taylor deserves credit for writing, but anyone deciding whether or not to see this play - based on this performance - would understandably not be remiss in choosing to opt out.
    That would be a shame, though. Governor Richards was an amazing, inspiring woman. And the WRITING is absolutely perfect. Give credit where credit’s due. Holland Taylor might not should be the actress (and Libby Villari should be), but the script is tight as “insert a four letter word that starts with ‘f’ and ends with... oh come on - you know what it ends with”.

      @cockeyedoptimista Před 3 lety

      (Is that the only adjective you could think of? Actually it's a noun in this case, I think, but either way, it's not very descriptive: "tight as ----": ??!)

    • @cockeyedoptimista
      @cockeyedoptimista Před 3 lety +1

      I would be interested to see that other actress, though. But it seems like Holland Taylor is pretty good in this! Edit: ah, no. I checked out a clip of this Libby Villari and she did not seem good at All! Nothing like Holland Taylor's portrayal. She was missing the timing, the grace; her accent was too strong: just no! Maybe three clips can't show what the real show was like either way..
