Your room needs the gap under the door so the air returns back to the A/C. If not, your room will get hot from not exhausting the heat out/ will also be overpressurized, and your thermostat, which would be located in the hallway/ closest to the return, will not know if your room is hot or not so it will not turn on.

Great for keeping cold air in and bugs out, but be cautious of affecting air pressure in the room. Perfect for soundproofing your space and maintaining energy efficiency.
That's not what they are for, they are for sealing gaps to prevent air loss or bugs coming in and out. In theory they might help with very loud noise but the noise travels through the hollow parts of the door and walls and most interior doors are hollow, unless you've got an old or fancy house.
@@beef-o-juice Ok nutter. I live in the US and my house is concrete but has a wood frame and stucco exterior. But you go with the stupid. I can guarantee US house are the best built house in the world.
Sound does not travel through space. Sound wave is the result of such longitudinal vibrations which is the creation of compressions and rarefactions within the air.
I actually happen to have used both of these on my bedroom door. The weather stripping things work really well around the door frame, but the big strip for the bottom made it too difficult to close and open the door so I replaced it with a cushioned door gap filler instead. Warning that the adhesive for the bottom gap thing WILL rip the paint off your door when you remove it or try to reposition.
You still need to keep in mind if doing this will affect the airpressure in the room at all. It's totally effective for cold AC or heated air loss prevention, and keeps mini bugs away
@greenmusic4787 coz you put it on base of the door. So the little gap between door and floor is eliminated. But still won't stop crawlers trying to get in through the hinges

@@remodz6385 Because many homes, particularly apartments, are not built/renovated with what you think would be common sense like that in mind. Plus eliminating the gap under the door can cause ventilation issues, but if the return vent is inside the room it’s a non-issue.

Fun fact the gap at the bottom of your door is there for a reason it’s for airflow and actually helps circulation of cold air while your ac unit is either heating or cooling your home
The gap under the door is to equalize the air pressure in the room when the forced air heater or air conditioner is running. Otherwise you have a vent blowing air into a room just building pressure in that room so that nothing else can come out of the vent and no air circulation in the house.
The strip on the hinges side of the frame should face the centre on the doorway and the other two sides should face the door. Otherwise you’re just shearing the seal off each time you close the door
I bought these and didn't help dampening my son blasting his music in his room, I even added sound proof foam on his door 🚪. What helped I bought him amp with headphones 🎧.
It is not soundproofing it is sound dampening. It only dampens sound by sealing all of the cracks between the door, because sound can travel easily through air between the cracks. The thing I find disturbing about this is the amount of gap under that door.
Thats how big the gap is usually. It’s because he has hard flooring. Carpet adds some height so it closes the gap a little more
He might be talking about the lack of gap, so air can have circulation.
It’s for the sponge like cats
The Gap also helps with circulating the air quality in the room, although you can just open your windows but that's another reason why there is a gap
