Love this video. Great tips on which way to clip the hair to get a shorter length and I love that you gave which size attachment you were using. I'm new to clipping my dog and need to know those little details.
Thanks! This has been very helpful! We have Two Standard Poodles and it seems like every time they get groomed they never come back the way we want them to! My wife owns a salon but I am the one who’s going to start learning how to groom are dogs! We have always had at least two or four so we’re very familiar with standard poodles
I bought Wahl dog clippers and I don't understand how to use them. I have tried using the Taper Lever and all the different mm guardseven 3mm but nothing cuts the hair short. If I use the bare blade it cuts down to the skin. What am I doing wrong?? Please help because I want to trim my pooch in this Lockdown in the UK. xx
Hi, this is a year late but I would recommend using a 30 blade for clipper attachments. Using a 10 blade is possible, but it is more likely to get broken by the attachment comb, and the coat doesn’t cut smoothly. You can find a 30 blade in Petsmart/Petco, and on amazon 😊
ugh, second video where I've seen this, of those are the clip on combs I think they are, that is not one inch, it the 5/8", which in the comb set, is three steps shorter than one inch.
I have been trimming my own blind poodle due to her feeling traumatized by grooming. Two questions. She won't hold still. Tries to jump off table. Should I buy a noose? Also, do you use a second smaller clipper for the face/feet? She is a toy. Thanks!
Dorie Weiss I have a poodle puppy that I've been trimming myself. My method includes sitting on the bathroom floor with him in my lap or laying down for the face and feet part. I give him a treat after every few minutes of holding still. With your dog being blind you might be able to use the treats to your advantage. Plus, sitting on the floor keeps your pup from falling off the table. Sadly, your legs and butt go numb after sitting on the floor too long! Lol As for the clippers. I think she used the same clippers for everything. She just didn't use a guard for her face and feet. Not clear as to whether she changed blades.
Yes you should definitely be using a noose especially if your dog is Blind it could get seriously injured? Not hating on anything like that at all. I also think you probably did the right thing by not taking her back to the same place that stressed your poor little Blind dog. Good Luck. 👍😁
The poodle's coat didn't look like it was prepped properly. It didn't look like it was thoroughly brushed out and the clipping looked pretty choppy. I'm surprised Wahl would use this video to advertise a clipper!
It looks like she was trying to rush through it, the point? buy this clip faster do more dogs a day earn my money! It doesnt look like its sharp enough to cut through the dogs coat comfortable for the dog. She also had trouble clipping the face, she seemed awkward. You can see her tugging while clipping the body and legs and clippers getting stuck, the guard is too long? going to fast to let the clippers do the work, all the above? not a good demo.
Hi from England,I have just purchased this km10.I don’t want fancy settings lol Could I ask you what comb to use on my poodle pups body just to keep it a nice length, not too short & what to use on her face ,it came with a 10 blade.I have purchased all the combs to match xx

you need to also invest in a metal comb and slicker brush as well as a set of different blades; if you have any questions shoot me a msg I can give you tips..
Do brushless clippers have more torque? Ok googled it and it works for power drills so I figure it works for clippers, too. "Without brushes to cause friction and slow things down, brushless drills pack more power and torque. They can reach higher speeds, too. "You can expect a 15 to 35 percent increase in performance compared with a brushed motor drill," says Banta." Cool.
I just bought some clippers from petsmart to try shaving our Pom myself instead of having to take her to a groomer because the closest groomer is about 65 miles away and they SUCK!!! I have tried everything to get them to work and they are not cutting her hair, they worked on her back where its flat but it took me over an hour!
You must be using the wrong size blade also it's not a Great idea to shave a double coated dog? But if you insist on shaving your Pomeranian you might want to Brush and comb it all out before trying to cut threw all that really thick Hair? Good Luck 💖😁
what brands have you tried? andis? Which one is more quiet andis acgd2, andis excel pro or whal km10? i don't want a loud one, my dogs don't like it, i know for shure i don't want an oster which my groomer used to use on my dogs and it was loud and got hot fast...
was that trimmer designed for dogs or for humans. i have a WAHL that was designed for humans and it works great on our miniatures. what kind of sedative do you have your dog on. ours hates the face and paws trimmed. way too ticklish.

Surprised that a 9 year old dog is so adverse to the clippers and disappointed that there are no safety tips other than hot blades (?) and are some Wahls hot and others not, and no explanation for what the "comb" is for or does.
Is it just me, or did you get the impression that this extremely sweet-tempered Poodle is about to take a bite out of this 'groomer' hand when she was attempting to clip the front legs? The delightful Poodle didn't bite her, but I certainly felt like taking a bite out of her more than once! She is as heavy-handed and harsh as Attila the Hun on steroids! No wonder dogs are not happy when they leave the grooming shop if they are treated in such a rough and harsh manner. There is simply NO reason why a 'groomer' (and please notice that I have used the term rather guardedly!) should be this rough with any dog----and certainly not when the dog is bending over backwards to be super nice. The dog has a lovely head, a great coat, decent confirmation, and quite obviously a wonderful, forgiving personality. She could very easily be a fantastic Poodle if groomed by a real professional groomer.
Interesting video, except that the dog is clearly afraid and panics several times. Shows that she hasn't been properly desensitized to such clippers and that the handling in particular makes her anxious. A shame.
Clearly you know nothing about dog body language. This dog is extremely calm and cooperative the entire time. She tried pulling her foot away a few times but that's it. That's just because dogs don't enjoy their legs being held but once she was corrected she did perfect. An anxious dog would be flailing, panting, have wide eyes, and possibly be whining or growling. This dog doesn't seem to mind hardly at all.
Quickest and smoothest poodle groom ever! The poodles i do take quite a while! Granted they're older and skiddish, but still! Impressive.

I'm curious, how comfortable is this clipper to use ? Does its curved design help with hand fatigue ? And what kind of blades are you using ? Thanks !

Poodles often have their tails docked in half to avoid severe injuries while they're working.
