I recently played for the first time the battlefront mods in a VR game called contractors so fun!
If it's anything like FE I'll get it, simple formulas with tons of effect mechanics that are straightforward to give it depth

What’s wrong with it being an Xcom clone? Yeah sure Xcom has its issues but it is a fun game, you wait your turn, try and plan ahead, and get a nice mixture of long time and short time
if its just a standard rts then i'll probably stick to empire at war and the insane modding community there, but it sounds fun for a new star wars game

It does NOT sound good. At all. When devs are implying they're trying to make things fun and for everyone, max output with less input, 99% of a time it ends up to be a trash game with over-simplified gameplay at best.
So yeah, I wouldnt be surprised if we'll get some Clash Royale like "strategy" game.

Don't confuse clash of clan and clash royale, this last has real strategy at high level but yeah, I agree with your idea, RTS are not made to be simple. You can have a good RTS without a lot of micro gestion or at least it is not obligatory to do it at lower level, like Star craft 2, battle for midlle earth or Dawn of War but come on, casual Rts are trash, like Empire at war was, besides the awesome amount of good mods it has, the gameplay is so casual that it is bad.

It is not great at all. RTS are not meant to be casual. They are like fight game or competitive fps, you can't combine a "hard to master" base gameplay with lot of mechanics, and the idea of making it casual. If they do this it will be like a trash F2P mobile strategy game with poor gameplay, that will not satisfy the people who don't play RTS but also not the RTS fan who prefere hard or mid gameplay like the games from relic or the series of Warcraft, Starcraft, Battle for Middle Earth...
Maybe on succeed of bg3 they looking on this. But i no hope for ea who ruin every studios.

@@vldvvalentin yeah but if this game got cancelled instead of the fps game, there would be far less outcry and more players happy, fps games get talked about way more than strategy game
Who cares? RTS are good even if it is not mainstream like FPS. And new fps release everyday in the world, but the RTS are very rare this days, so yeah, the RTS community, even if it is much smaller than the FPS community, is happy to see a new Star Wars RTS game coming and no, a new FPS wouldn't be better.
The difference is that this one is developed by an indie studio that would probably close if this was canceled.
Make that 4. I love rts. There better than fps by a long shot.
