Use a thermal camera and find the heat, you find the heat, you find the friction
I followed your advice, turns out that my underwear was too tight in one spot.
AS well as a specialized blacksmith, you have turned into the credible machinist. Well done.
Where there is a Will, there is a way.
Hey Will couple tips if you care to hear them. A: don’t give up (I know you won’t)
B: don’t make assumptions about what is wrong if you can’t prove it
C: don’t be afraid to sleep on a problem it’s easy to get stuck into thinking the same way about a problem, best of luck!
Ok. Now that I’ve done the first comment, I can be serious. Will, your work ethic and positive attitude is absolutely addictive in all the best ways. I don’t forge or work with steel, but I still love these vids.
Thanks for being a positive influence and providing entertaining content at the same time.
The DMR next to the broom in the kitchen has me sold. Whatever that sponsorship was about, I’m buying three of them.
I was waiting for someone to notice!
I believe you can get this beast running. You're so close!
Enjoying the vids Will Just note on the brake the old lining could likely be asbestos so be careful not to make or breath dust from that.
Came here to say this. Nice call.
"at least it's moving, even if it's poorly".
That's the story of my life, right there!
Feeling called out too 🥴😋
@@Seelenschmiede only my lack of athletic ability... 😀
Love the rifle leaning on the counter next to the broom! 😂
Love how informative your videos always are. Super cool to learn how these things work by watching someone fix one
Will, I subscribed after seeing you on Abom; this is becoming a great series. I like they way you think things through before moving ahead. Can't wait to see the hammer up and running. Great content, TY
He's learned some hard lessons that make him more cautious now
Hey Will, the cast iron bushing was wider in the middle to keep the belt in the middle when running. That prevents the belt from wondering from side to side or off the track.
Getting some Power Hammer Redemption finally. Nice to see an old girl like that getting the love it deserves.
Nice looking broomstick and boomsticks in the background!
Great stuff, Will! I'd love to see you work on a new project where your doing some work like you did on the civil war sabre guard.
Awesome a new video!!! Hopefully no destruction on the hammer 🔨
Amazing to see young individuals paying attention to details
I had to stop - because it is hammer time! 😁😇🤟
Fascinating to watch you attack and conquer each problem. Raise some kids this way.
❤ I'm going to thank you for showing us how cool old well engined machines work, dirty hands rule.
Nice, I have been waiting for you to get back to this. Can't wait to see it finished.
Hey if you ever have to remove a bronze bushing like that again. Cut a relief line through the entire length with a fine tooth sawsalls blade. Back in the day they used to use brass pins in the bushings to hold them in place from spinning
"Definitely didn't slip at all" that was hilarious. Didn't anyone else catch that?
When the Hammer is finished you need to auction off the first knife that you make with it. A mile stone Knife!
Dude is literally hammering the hammer to make it hammer :D
We so enjoy your channel. Thank you for your family friendly, and interesting, content! God bless you and the work of your hands, Will!
Should rename this series to watch me make a power hammer one piece at a time
Much respect!! Thanks for the video!
take the brake off then run it before you attack the spring arms.
Popping that bronze out was so satisfying to see.
His skills have been tested along with his patience... lol the frustration is real!
I'm enjoying this series hoping to see it running well in the next episode
Feels like its been ten years since youve dropped the baudry, cant wait to see the final product making products.
Hey, remember it's a process. Pain in the.... but a process. Just do what ya gotta do. It ain't fixin' itself.
That has to be one of the most terrifying machines that be ever seen. Thanks for the video!
Hey Will, I love the channel, been watching for a long time. I have a possible solution for you and this darn equipment. Have you already tried turning it off and back on again? I fix arcades often and that’s a neat little trick that works more often than I’d expect.
Thanks for this video, I think you should flatten the head of adam's axel first. Then you have to see if everything is still in line with the hammer. And correct it.
I have a gut feeling that the giant nut is pulling tings tight to.
Take off the braken when you are testing.
Keep your head cool, your doing fine.
Stay in the moment and do what you have to do. It's great content....
Once more, thanks for taking us along on your journey to Beaudry renewal.
love to see on the ad, the ramp up on weapons...mop...semi...and then lever, means business when the lever is there!!!
Nice job with this one!! Good luck with the springs haa!!
Hey, Will, greetings from Superior, Montana! Man, you nailed the finish on that bronze bushing.
Excellent work Will! Abom will be proud!
Crazy how the bronze looks like steel as you shave the outside on the lathe
Looking forward to seeing how you troubleshoot and fix this hammer.
Don’t give up Will!
That rough surface finish? Intended. To keep it in place. Friction. Glad you call it bushings now - sometimes 😊... Yes, I'm picky 😁... Great hammer though, love me some old mechanic tools... It'll bed in. Eventually... Graphite grease may work... Or when desperate on time: valve lapping compound. Leave the springs as is...
Really interesting watching your hammer vids. Such unique machines.
Well done getting that bushing out!
Absolutely love these videos!!
you could put a sharpie in the lathe chuck and made a few passes to see how much it was out.
Nice work on the lathe on this one Will.
The great times in life when a wack with a large hammer is considered a delicate adjustment :)
Great video guys. May God continue to bless you.
This was beautiful to watch
Great content thanks for sharing
Have you heard of this other blacksmith?his name is Alec Steele, you should collab with him. 😂
Thanks for filming Will! 👍😁
I have a feeling that Will likes pine cabinets. No idea where that feeling came from.
Hey, your german pronounciation was pretty good and nearly spot on! Hats off to you.
Nice to see that olde beast coming back to live slowly.
Will, when you were testing it, between 15:20 and15:21 Did I see a double bounce in the mechanism? Went back and looked many times, and yes, there was a double bounce. That could be the cause. Check out the video. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed visiting friends in Gallatin Gateway and Livingston a few years ago. The 80 MPH speed limit in I-90 was a bit scary for me. Thanks for the video. Jon
Not gonna lie... this video made me so jealous... 😱
That bushing removal was a bear GOOD JOB!🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸
Great video as always.
good job Will!
15:05 well, there's your problem right there! There's a bolt on the ground that should clearly be in somewhere 😅
J/j very cool video watching you work on such a big machine and say things, like should be doable, or to do some massive thing to a crazy precision and then act like it isn't that big of a thing, lol
Always entertaining and inspiring
Be interesting to use a thermal camera to look for hot spots.
Good job will!
Good job 😊
That's a beautiful hammer will. Don't drop it or something like that
Huh? Who would do that?
To early?
It sounds terrifying when starting up!
Good effort bringing it back to life.
Nice WPSN reference!!
Very nice mate. 👍👍
Nice rifle man
It always comes down to doing the work
It makes me want to be close to the machine not meaning to sound bossy but have you dropped a plum bob across the ends of all the bushings and turn points you need a fine line to be able to see a small difference I hope it helps if you try
My papa found alignment problems on a punch motor with a plum bob when I was a young man for some reason a level didn't show it out enough
This is SO KEWL.
Crank those videos out and drive the viewership up. Smash it like that power hammer.
Cheers from Mildura Australia
6:19 im sorry- what is that on the wall?
absolutely l o v e the design
Please put some cutting oil on that tap
Sometimes you just gotta embrace the suck.
Enjoy your content.......BUT...sure would like to see ya at your best building knives and other stuff. Fun to watch
Step by step to full service, and prolong his life for more 100 years
Are the gibs oiled ? Are they adjusted to the proper tolerance away from the ram?
Did you check the hole with the bearing for square?
Will. For 30 bucks harbor freight has 6 inch long reach digital micrometer with just over 3" jaw length.
Will the vise you are using was made in my home town of EriePa who made it?
Welcome to the land of”learning how machines work.”
Hello Will! Enjoying the content. Saw you went to India and got to do some smithing. I have a connect with a famous family of Balinese kris knife makers in Bali. The kris is sacred to Balinese culture and it is considered bad luck to own one with the incorrect waves (each wave is called a "luk"). I had a kris made for myself and it was a process that involved getting my Balinese astrology and then ceremonies with the smiths as they made it. I think I am perhaps among a very small number of Americans to go through this process. Let me know if you would like to go to Bali and learn and make a traditional kris. Thanks for all the entertaining and educational content!🤓
the ship of Theseus power hammer. If you made 2 of everything you replace you could sell someone a brand new hammer.
It aint easy being a bladesmith😁
"Look at that boomder bar"? I'd buy that shirt, bahahaha
Just skipped off the ranch cuz this was up, just so you know…
If you methodically and eventually replace or rebuild all the parts one by one will it still be an antique or would it then be a new machine?
Dwarfs still call it the family axe. Even with a new haft, a new blade, a new haft again, a new blade again asf aso... 😋
Hammer of Theseus
That looks like a finger removing machine to work on 😮 take care of yourself, and always have somebody with you working on it. Great video though, frustrating for you, but it'll pay off. Thanks
Apprentice Stetler has learned much from Master Booth
Looks like Will learned a few things in Florida.
Seeing you next to it makes me remember how short Mr. Wil is
The hammer is 9ft tall also 👍🏻
@@WillStelterbladesmith Yeah! Just felt like poking some fun. Great hammer for a great man!
@@WillStelterbladesmithi can not believe you fell for that Will.😛
I luv that you'regetting the big ol' Beaudry back up in shape.👍
