How to Depot Candles to Not Waste the Wax & Reuse the Container
Are you tired of throwing away candles that still have wax in them but the wick has burned down ? Today I am showing you how to stop wasting your expensive candles. PLUS as an added bonus I am sharing how I am reusing some of my glass jars.
There are several methods of wax removal out there. This is the version I have found to be the easiest, quickest and safest. There are also a million of ideas to redesigning the jars once they are depotted. This is an area I have yet to venture into.
If you do this project and post about it I would LOVE to see it ! Be sure to tag me :-) See my social media handles below

I’ve done this with lots of candles, but I never thought of putting the boiling water INSIDE the candle!!! Love that idea!!! One year I took all the empty Yankee Candle jars from work and cleaned them out and filled them with each person’s fave candy. Then on the outside I etched each person’s name and the word Treats under their name! So it would be “Jim’s Treats”, then I decorated each jar with ribbon and a tag. I save the wax too, it’s really great in the warmers! TFS this was a great video!

But, to risk breaking the glass from heat shock, I put the whole jar in a tall pot, warm it up slowly on low heat, like 3-4, it melts, then pour over into an empty jar with same or similar scents. Let cool, buy new stiff wicks at Michael's, and reburn.

I use my old bath and body works candle jars to hold my makeup brushes and to add more color I use the candle holders around the clear jars to go with the theme of the holidays. I have a pumpkin one for fall and I have a pineapple one I keep year round.

Another thing you could do is plant flowers, herbs, succulents, and many other small plants in them. You could also use old soup cans, old jars, old plastic containers and so much more. I’ve actually planted herbs in empty toilet paper rolls! They work well if your just starting a seed or a little sprout that you want to plant in the ground eventually. You can just rip or cut it right off!

This was pretty cool to see. Thanks for sharing. When it comes to reusing the left over wax in the scentsy warmers, how well do they melt away? I know the scentsy wax does not actually melt away. The fragrance just dissipates over time and we have to pour it off.

    • @Seashellsbytheseashore21

they won't melt away, you can just pour it off. its just for the scent. or you could make a whole new candle.

I reused an old BBW 3 wick by putting these little tealight candles inside it. The previous label had this sparkly glitter design and the little candles inside when lit make a pretty glitter pattern around the room :o

If you're having trouble getting the labels/label glue off, you can use canola oil (like, the type you use for cooking) to help dissolve it. Just dab some on an old toothbrush and work it over the label. Give it a little bit of time and *presto* - label comes right off.
The amount of time depends on the label/type of glue - and you're for sure going to wash the excess canola oil off after. 🙂
