The little purple flowers appear to be Woodland Phlox but not sure because it looks like it has a red stem??? I enjoy your channel.

It's so exciting when things finally start waking up. Sometimes it feels like winter will never end but our plants remind us that summer will come! Did you have a mild winter this year as well?

Shame about the hellebore. Hopefully it'll rebound! Your snapdragons have really started to take off, and the seedlings all look really good! Do you think it was the light that caused the burnt tips on your pepper seedlings? I'm dealing with the same on my Fama pin cushion seedlings and China asters, but nothing else under the grow lights.

It's crazy how much the snapdragons grew in just a week. I have separated them and potted them up now and soon they'll be ready for pinching. I'm thinking the burned tips were caused by me leaving the humidity dome on too long. I got busy and didn't take it off right away when about half the tray was germinated and it was also in the sunny window during the warm spell where we got into the 70's. Luckily they seem to be recovering just fine. I think I got to them just in time.

I noticed you mentioned your hollyhocks are coming back for the 2nd year. Did you have blooms your first year? Do you anticipate blooms this year? And what direction are they facing, in terms of sunlight? Just wondering what to expect of the ones I put in last year. Thanks for the updates!

I did have blooms the first year and I think they will likely bloom again this year. They are on the west side of the house so they get mostly afternoon sun. I do have to stake the bloom stalks though. If they got all day sun they might stand better on their own.

@@laurelrosegardens6454 Oh awesome! Mine are on the west as well, so I feel more confident that I will get blooms this year. Thanks for responding, as I need all the help I can get as a new-ish gardener!

Is that fothergilla a Blue Shadows? I planted four several years ago but last fall I neglected to put chicken wire cages around twoof them and they've been chewed down nearly to the ground! I got them mail order, so if you know of a local source please let me know

That is a Blue Shadow Fothergilla. I got it at the flagship Bachman's store in Richfield and have seen them at other Bachman's locations in years past. I think I saw them at another local garden center as well but I couldn't tell you which one. Maybe Highland Nursery in St. Paul? Did yours get chewed by deer, do you think? Hopefully they recover!

Thank you so much! The flowers are some kind of bulb that I planted in the fall though they do have blooms that look like phlox. I'll have to dig out the package from wherever I stashed it in the shed to remind myself. 😊
