@@slevinchannel7589 Yeah, Deponia Doomsday was a mistake. From what I remember Poki (the creator) really wasn't okay with it since the story was finished after Goodbye Deponia. But they wanted to make another game since the series sold so well.... so he had to come up with some weird time travel stuff that wouldn't mess with the trilogy's integrity as a story on its own. I myself don't consider Doomsday canon.

The ending of the 3rd game always gets me just because of the music playing in the background.
Me 2, I just loved the series, it was so crazy, poki is a king in comedy. And the let's player Gronkh who played the bum didn't knew his character until he played it live on twitch lol
To everyone talking about Rufus’ sacrifice for Deponia- I genuinely don’t think there was any other thinking from him behind his actions other than it was the only thing he could do. If he kept pushing with “I’m the REAL Rufus!”, Cletus and Argus would just keep it up with “No, I’M the real Rufus!”, and that would waste time as the highboat got closer and closer to crashing… which would put Goal in danger. Hence Rufus only having one choice, which was to jump.
The concept of this story is wonderful but the ending was sad (but nice).
IKR I HATED THE ENDING ;__;
The ending was perfect when you understand that Rufus died to save the world. Surely a common trope but for Rufus, a person who started out being purely egotistical to die for those he loved and to sacrifice his chance at Elesium makes the ending really powerful. Especially given that the story is so light hearted it gives the ending even more power.

They say at the end that being unable to blow up Deponia, Elysium still faces crisis, being doomed to overpopulation and resource depletion since it can no longer get to Utopia, and this is all the more true now that they've added thousands of more citizens.
I'd also disagree that Rufus made some big change. From the very first game Rufus refused to lie and cheat his way into Elysium, even when the opportunity was presented to him on a silver platter. Rufus' sacrifice at the end was just one in a long list of times he's sacrificed his chance for Elysium. Now we've ended with Rufus presumed dead, Goal unhappy, and Elysium in turmoil. This isn't a perfect ending, it's a cliffhanger that we don't have a sequel to.

Bought all three of these in a package a while back. Best purchase I've ever made. Just finished the second one, and darn is it cool seeing all of those songs from the first two back to back. Well, on to the third!
Goodbye Deponia is amazing (probably my favorite in the trilogy), but you might get disappointed by the ending.
Findexx32 The third is by far the best.. by a huge margin. The way the game goes, the puzzles, the characters that are introduced, the scale of the game EVERYTHING is nicely polished ... perfect finish to the trilogy.

I disagree about the puzzles of the third one, I didn't like them much and some of theme were not much sensible. Although the second one had the most impossible thing that you had to do to use the secret knock on the rebel hideout by the town square, I haven't seen anything like that in my 20 years of adventuring :P

I finished the third one a long time ago, and I have to admit that I was rather disappointed by the conclusion to the series.Even so, the third was great, and I can't wait to play through another adventure, especially since it means the ending to the third isn't final.
Sad that the possibility of another game by the devs will never happen. Gosh darn it Gollum. Hopefully they do come back to developing games, stick to point and click.

I've searched for the english version, because I wanted to know how the english singer is. I thought it'll be very bad, the style from poki cannot be copied. I never thought that he sings the english version, too.
+Cafer I wonder how different the two versions of the game are, but I have a hunch they're mostly the same. There's actually one part where Rufus picks up a ghost costume off the floor and says, "There was a really funny joke here in the original German version, but it was lost in translation. It was hilarious, trust me."

According to TVtropes, the joke is a play on the german words for Spanner and Peeping Toms, and it just doesn't translate into English at all. :P
The orchestra over the title and the end screens never fail to make me tear up.
I wonder if Goon is voiced by PewDeePie in the english version XD. In the german version it's Gronkh, the most famous Let's Player in Germany.

Ok, I just miss one thing in the English translation: In the last verse in German, it literally means: “Grab your harmonica and sing of Deponia, of Rufus and Goal and the life in dirt and trash.” Instead of only Rufus and his ideal. Actually, it males more sense to me in German because in the end, Rufus learned to emphasise with his people instead of always dreaming of running away. He stayed and fought for them. So this last verse is important to me as it combines everything that was important in this series. Rufus and Goal who brought the best out of each other and the life in dirt and trash -> how it is and not how we wish it to be sometimes. Which ultimately builds up to the last part, that you sometimes can only save the world by letting go. Also, how it is, surely not how we wanted it to be.
But consider that, at least in the English game, his motivation never changed from the first scene. He did everything for an Elysian girl. He wanted to go to Elysium to be with the girls there, he encountered one by accident and spent the rest of his time trying to convince her to take him back to Elysium with her. He had ONE selfless action that was still motivated by that girl. His ideal life was spending it with that girl in a place that wasn't a literal garbage planet. He didn't once actually care about the planet or the people despite the fact that he *accidentally* rallied them against the Organons by exposing their plan. He only went through with the infiltration because Goal wanted to do it.
The great story of heroic narcissist. Rufusrufusrufusrufusrufusrufus. His ego won a great ending ONLY for HIMSELF.
A great ending? Death? Not really a great ending if you ask me... But hey, there's a fourth game that just came out

corncrab I still haven't given up hope. I've learned one thing from all games that involved Poki (the original German versions) - he's a master of using the German language and rhetoric. There are countless rhetoric figures and subtle hints in the in-game dialogues you only get if you are a bit of a language nerd (which results to a funny result: some German gamers found the games easy, like "why do you have a problem, there are tons of hints!" while others say "why the hell aren't there any hints?!?"). I've also seen a few short interviews with him, where he was asked if the saga is really over and done.
The answers were always like this:"That's the last part of the Deponia trilogy" or "There won't be a fourth Deponia game" or "There won't be another Deponia game." or "no, no other Deponia, Rufus' story was told now."
As he's very nit-picky with the usage of language (which really shows in the German versions of the games), this got me thinking - "the LAST of the DEPONIA games... but what about a FIRST of the Elysium games?" or "the DEPONIA trilogy is finished, but what's with Utopia? And well, Rufus' story is done and over, but what's with Goal's story? And the stories of the other characters?"
Granted, I don't know anything, and maybe I just read too much into things because I want to hope. BUT if ever a game like "Elysium - Return to Deponia" with the goal to collect the three parts of the Triforce, eh, I mean, genetic material from Rufus and parts for the clone facility, I wouldn't be surprised. (However, one things speak against my hope. As great as he is in writing stories and dialogues, Deponia isn't the only game with a meh ending. Nothing against open endings, but Deponia as well as the Edna games more feel like another punch line, they lack a real feeling of closure, so... maybe for all his genius, Poki might just suck at delivering satisfying endings.)
E3 is soon. Maybe there will be an anouncement.
