I thought I'd comment here too, great review. I'd love to see you do the same for Replicators. Plus, with the All Good Things Expansion round the corner, could be a good time to re-visit Space Empires 4x again :) Cheers
The Empire Advantage/Alien tech cards are one module I have been dying to try! Playing solitaire I miss out on some of the more awesome modules and ships.
Replicators recommends a few modules from Close Encounters, but I don't think they are necessary to play. That said the Larger home planets and transport ships from Close Encounters enrich the experience of Replicators solo.
To bad Close Encounters can't be found for sale at e-bay, various Facebook groups and the BGG marketplace, and if it is found it's going for a crazy amounts of money until GMT can get around to a reprint, which could take awhile

I recommend the solitaire mode from Replicators. It's a bit more robust, with slightly less bookkeeping!
