have this not played , gonna get it out, with the card deck , it says to shuffle every card except the first and the last ,could you as a variant could you play them in chronology date order ?

This was the best game I bought this year. Just so much fun and an extremely high value product with tons of scenarios at different player counts that are standalone, in addition to the epic 6 player campaign game. You can basically play this with anyone.

Had the privilege to play this game with the designer at Gen Con, it was awesome, art is beautiful and the game is snappy and quick to play, my non wargamer friend also enjoyed it.

have it - don't play it cause the counters are too wide to grip with my reverse tweezers and too thin to rotate with my hands when spent.

Waiting for Burning Bras

It was good review of a good game, Guys! An easy recommendation for fans of classics like: - Divine Tight - Warparty - Conquest of Nerath or - Heroes of Land, Air & Sea. From relatively lately released games it’s my second favorite fantasy based strategy (not tactical) war game, followed by The Struggle for Zorn: The Red Blight and surpassed only by Harrow County (although the latter is more horror than typical Fantasy). Thanks for your work!

Surprised I never bought this when it first came out. I'm just not big on games with cards at any level involved in a game. But i do love Orcs... solitaire?

I have this game but have never played (I meant to buy Maori Wars....doh.....I still want that one.) After your review, I want to try it. It looks a little lite for my taste. Conquest of Paradise was a fine game. Both games fascinating history. I'm interested in the prehistoric population spread thru the Pacific. Regards any PC 'controversy"....how silly. I bet you agree but don't risk putting it on the net😄. I'm too old and crotchity to care. The designer seemed to have approached the subject with respect. Criticism seems to smack of "cultural appropriation", another goofy concept. McPartland didn't consult me on Banish The Snakes! With my Irish heritage should I be PO-ed? good review. Carry on Grant.

No. Not wrong about the colors. It is weird that the cards are just the colors of the nationalities. They should also have the strip of color of that specific formation. It's a huge flaw of those cards.

I finished up a third scenario of Panzers Last Stand yesterday and would also count myself firmly hooked on BCS. Those moments at the end of the scenario when you look back and say “ooooh that’s how I should’ve done that” and then applying it to the next play are just the best. Great mix of crunchy tactical sequencing with seeing how your plans come to fruition (or don’t 😅)

I wanted to love this. The rule book kills it. It needs a big rework because I think it has huge potential. The history is great. But I just can’t work out how to play! I play ASL.

It looks like the old Knizia game 'Age of War' with a map and event cards attached. Not a bad thing and kind of wish the Knizia game did this.

We don't usually see wargames with infantry figure instead of nato symbols. Why doing it for armored units tough ?

Is Pompeius in the game? You only mentioned Cassius and Brutus as the liberators. Simply adding the third Liberator to the game with what he did historically would seem an easy fix to the game.

Had the exact same opinion of the game. This one needed a little more time in the oven. They released an expansion which I think is Caesar crossing the Rhine to fight Pompey. That might be a bit more interesting but I haven't picked it up yet.
