The "app" asked me to "accept cookies" - I think this is just a wrapper for the browser version - a kind of separate browser window that opens a version of the canva we know & love - I wouldnt hold my breath for a full offline mode, as they would need to build an entire software - The app may help with speed if you have a lot of tabs open in your browser or need to clear your cache, but its not doing anything special here - It may help you stay organised though...maybe - thanks for the video, was awesome!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Max đ
Iâm glad you enjoyed the video.
Why is it bad? đI come across a looot of websites that ask that
Great video as usual... I do agree with having the ability to work offline will indeed be a game changer
Let's hope this will come soon đ€
First of all. Such a lovely Thumbnail. I just love it. â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž As i already use the app so i found it more interesting....
Yayyy đ
Thanks Masooma, we shared your feedback with our graphic designer.
This one was a collaboration between me (Ronny) and her!
Really happy you liked it đ„°
In the browser, when you already are currently working on a project and your internet suddenly cuts off, thereâs actually a message saying: Weâve locked your accessâŠ. You can still edit but we will not be able to save it.â From experience, I just continue to edit and as soon as the internet comes back, Canva recognizes this and autosaves my work again.
Hi Hiro,
yes, that's a nice feature indeed.
An offline mode would be so cool though đ
Thank you! That was super clear and helpful. I was trying to find out if it's worth downloading the app, and this made it clear there are no real benefits as I can already open multiple tabs and split-screen using Google Chrome. I really appreciate how nicely done this was though.
You're welcome!
I love it so much! so helpful!
Thanks for sharing!
I just switched almost a week ago, and I like it a lot!
Thatâs awesome, thanks for letting me know đ
Wow, thank you for this valuable information.
Always happy to share Junel đ
Thank you for a good video. IÂŽve just recently been introduced to Canva and I do have a problem with the file size limit for video. 1GB... Have you found a way around this problem?
I use the desktop app and love it!
That's great to hear đ
We like it too, just wished it had a bit more to offer.
Iâm crazy about canva and your videos đ€Șđ€Șđ€Șđđđ»ââïž
Happy to hear that Ibrahim đ„°
I once downloaded it and deleted it again. But after watching this I'll decide whether or not I should download it. THANK YOU RONDI
Always welcome!
Yes, I think it's worth having the app installed on your computer.
Something tells me it's gonna get better in the future đ€
Well, I'm a little slow watching this video, but glad I did. Looks like there's not much gained by using the desktop app, so I'll stick to the browser. Thanks for the great info!đ
I tend to agree with you Brenden
I LOVE the app - easier for me to switch back and forth from Trello (where we organize and prepare our content).
Oh OK, thanks for sharing how you use it dear đ„°
Thank you
And 6:00 actually you just need to click the right button and open in another browser page.
Thanks for letting me know đ
Awesomeđ
Thank you Sania đ
Thanks for sharing
Always!
The desktop app is simply deluxe. I LOVE it
Thanks for sharing your opinion dear đ
Yea Canva Guru, I have already done it and using it since 15 days
And apart from the opening glitch, what are you thoughts about it?
Do you use it more often than the browser version? Or the other way around?
Just curious đ€
@@TeamRonDi I am using the browser instead of App., cos it has issues of starting up, but it starts then works fine.
If you open the page ON A DIFFERENT BROWSER then you should be able to change team.
That's what I do to login on a different user on various programs that don't allow it in the same browser!!
100%, that's a great tip đ
Awesome! đ I love how you always have theese three in your videos : being very helpful, interactive and always very interesting.đ„°
(Also never knew about this app btw, thanks teamrondi)
Thanks Princess đ
We work hard on our tutorials.
We want to deliver an experience to our viewers through them, not just talk about Canva.
Really happy to that find the videos helpful and interesting to watch đđđ
I regularly have multiple Canva projects open in Chrome and Chrome lets you drag/merge a tab to a new window so that feature is already covered. However, with many projects opened it can become sluggish, I was hoping that the desktop app will not have this issue, if so, that alone is reason to use the app for me.
Well the app is a bit "cleaner" to work with multiple tabs open. They have that feature to nest / unnest your tabs.
Thanks
You're welcome Shadab đ„°
I'd prefer web app over desktop app, bcuz I have a setting in my browser that I just type 'c' and canva app opens......
secondly it is faster for me on browser otherwise I have to wait for the app to open seperately on my 4 gigs lappy
OK, thanks for sharing your preference with us Sujal đ„°
the one difference of having separate designs in different tabs can be done on chrome, I always have my Canva home page open and everything opens in a new tab from there but unsure if it's a Window V Mac difference. I could not find a setting for this in Chrome at all.
In order to be able to work offline, you would have to allow all your designs to be actually ON your device instead of the cloud or Canva's servers, depending on how they store our things. I don't see this changing anytime soon just due to how things are stored (IE not on our devices unless we've downloaded them), which is a huge plus with using Canva IMO
Hi Jennifer,
You are right about being able to open multiple tabs using the browser version.
I just found it "cleaner" when done via the app. But it's not much different. I like the way we can choose our document type from the tab button on the app, instead of having to go through the homepage.
I believe Canva will eventually come up with an offline mode đ€
@@TeamRonDi I always have several ways to start new design. Even when in a document, start a new one is under the file menu. I'm usually using the resize feature, and love that it does have to be a copy to do so. I have started with one doc type only to realize I need another....a lot lol
I get it. Such a gamechanger. Hehehe
Glad you are enjoying it Glydel đ
I have debating on using this, wanna know if it helps with lag when making videos
I run 2 different speed test related to videos in the tutorial, have a look!
Thanks Ronny. How does one login to multiple pro accounts though in the Canva desktop app?
You can log off one account and log into another one by clicking on your profile picture.
if you do not have windows or mac laptop but you have Chromebook can you download it as well or just sign in and still use Canva
That's a very good question Liza.
I think I remembered while working at Canva some conversations about the Canva app being pre-installed on Chromebooks. Maybe check if it's already installed on your Chromebook?
Do you pay both subscriptions for desktop and app? I'm assuming the subscriptions are at least to cover the stock photography, but if I have Canva Pro on my phone, am I able to use the Pro features on the desktop WITHOUT paying the separate subscription?
If you purchase Canva Pro, youâll have access to Pro on all your devices. You only pay once.
@@TeamRonDi thank you for clearing up the confusion, the terms seemed different on both!!
I am very familiar with the mobile and desktop version. My mobile videos always play on my phone but when I open the desktop app every single time they are shortened to 5 seconds and I've looked high and low to find out why was no luck.
I'm sorry to hear that, have you tried reaching out to Canva's support team?
Hello, Is there an update to the benefit of using the desktop app over the web browser? Love your videos BTW.
Thanks!
No, the app hasnât changed much since we made this video.
dude mosty we dont really care that your macbook has a newer chip or what would make the app great. I just came here to get an answer for "Should You Get it?" and that is kinda missing - which minute of the video can answer it for me? thx
I cannot download into the "share" portion of the App; however can from the website đźđźđźđźđź. Do you know wny?
Iâm not sure why you are experiencing this issue đ€
Is there a way to verify what data is being collected on the windows desktop version?
You'd have to read the terms and agreements, TBH I haven't read them.
I have a windows computer and I have always been able to have extra tabs, I just go to the canva home page and open a new project and a new tab will come up. Sometimes I have 5 tabs in a row, so a windows computers has always done that.
Hi Karen,
yes we can indeed open different instances of Canva in different tabs via our browsers, but in the App, all the tabs are nested in the same window. I find it easier to navigate.
@@TeamRonDi they are nested the same in my windows always. They come up exactly how you showed them on the app, I donât go and open another browse window, I just go to canva home page and click new project or an old one and it opens it for me nested right beside the others.
@@karenvickery6070 yes it is so. I have never opened another browser window. But also the Desktop App is good for me, because of the exact Downloads. And not only downloading them in 1 Download folder. And the titles to rewrite is good. THIS is the big difference (for me) not was in this video said.
@@bilderlady yeh windows computers must work better with canva than Mac does. Iâve always had many tabs open in canva with different projects without going to the browser and opening a new window, Iâve always been able to just add a new tab on the Cavan home page and have them all lined up, so it seems Mac uses have been missing out all this time.
@@karenvickery6070 No :) Iam only working on my IMac PC. It is the same like you said all. Maybe HE has another Browser or something wrong. I dont know. But at me is the same like you said.
Hey, I would know about restaurants' menu. Plz, make a video about this .
Maybe in one of our next videos đ„°
Am I mistaken to think that when you record yourself with the app, we don't have the possibility to share our screen? However, with the web version, we have the choice to choose camera only or camera and screen. Why can't we seem to do this within the app? I haven't found a video that talks about this.
You are right.
In order to be able to screen-record, you need to be using Canva in your browser. Not even any web browser, but Google Chrome specifically.
Measuring upload and download times to the hundredth of a second while using a WLAN connection does not make much sense. And how exactly would the performance of your hardware influence the up/download speed?
It completely sure TBH Marco đ€
do you a video on how to add text to a photo using Canva
Yes, we have these two:
czcams.com/video/raa_UL4RTwE/video.html
czcams.com/video/zYXyhdNk9kc/video.html
I'd rather use the browser version anyway but still very interesting, tho!
Ok, thanks for sharing your preference Anna đ„°
@@TeamRonDi Your welcome!
If anyone can help I'd be eternally grateful! I downloaded the desktop app, but the app won't save, gives me an error message about 'WebSockets'? Searched everywhere but can't find a solution. Anyone?
Thatâs a tough one.
Have you tried searching for the Websockets in your other apps?
Maybe thereâs a conflict there.
Also definitely reboot your computer.
Speed glitch are there, sometimes its take lot of time to open the app.
Oh really?
I've never had that glitch on my side.
Thanks for sharing Rekha đ
Can't work offline in even canva desktop app?
Not yet, no đ„č
Why would I get the app when I can get it online? I have a MAC.
At the moment there arenât many differences, like I explain in the video.
@@TeamRonDi Ok....thanks! Obviously didn't listen to the entire thing.
I wish I watched this video before I installed Canva on my desktop. I thought that the 142MB package (422MB when installed!) would give me more flexibility and greater performance using my PC, but it seems this is nothing but a built-in web browser that runs the Canva web version which you would run in your everyday internet browser anyway. What a letdown. Thanks for the video tho.
Youâre welcome Radovan,
I agree the desktop version doesnât yet differentiate enough from the browser version.
It's basically a modified web browser
For now, yes.
13:20 I think you meant to say "May 2022" Its not actually June yet.đ
Haha, yes!
I actually did this on purpose to future proof the video đ
the app also runs on chrome
The app is different than the browser versions, it runs on windows and iOS.
Thanks for the review. This app seems completely pointless if it is basically just a browser window.
I think more things will be added in the future, making it a more logical choice. Patience.
@@TeamRonDi Canva itself is great. But this app makes no sense if it adds basically no value. Working offline would be the obvious top feature. The fact that itâs even slower than a browser version means all the computing is still happening on the server. So, itâs really nothing but a custom browser window. They should have held back with it until actual features are added. Patience is good and all but why a half-baked app when a browser window does it better? Glad I watched your video before installing this app. Thanks again.
June?
đ Sorry I was future proofing the video!
It was indeed shot and published in May. But lot's of people will see it in June too!
Hello wonderful! My name is Chris and I am a designer from Bulgaria (Eastern Europe). I want to create a CZcams channel just like you, but in Bulgarian, to help the non-English speaking audience here. My question is: do I need permission from Canva and how can I become part of the affiliate program? Thanks in advance for your time đâ€ïž
Hey Chris đ
You do not need permission from Canva to create content about Canva, but I would recommend you reach out to them to let them know what you are doing. There might be some opportunities there.
To become an affiliate is fairly easy, I explain how to do that in this video: czcams.com/video/Tmg2yloCFGQ/video.html
Good luck with your Canva journey âš
@@TeamRonDi Thank you so much đ
Not really sure of the "benefits" of the app. Firefox, Chrome and Edge all offer the same feature set in-built when using Canva. It appears to be a tool that was invented to solve a problem that didn't exist.
I tend to agree with you đ
I guess you are in the future cos I'm watching this on May 2022
Haha, yes! My mistake đ
There is no desktop app for linux. So browser rocks.
That's true!
u r unique
Thank you Pavlin, thatâs very nice of you to say đ
Why is this not available OFFLINE ???!!! UUGGGHHH. Frustrating.
I suppose the thing that can be done is limit the gallery for photos/videos. Let me do everything else at least
Completely agree with you on this one!
Letâs đ€and hope Canva adds that offline mode soon.
So basicaly its just a Canva browser.
There are a few exclusive features, but so far, not much different indeed.
There's probably more coming in the near future though đ€
@Design with Canva for sure, and we will be looking forward to it and your video about it đ
