Word round the Shire is that Jennifer Lawrence will rewrite, star, direct and produce the remainder of TROP. This means that it will be the first fantasy series made into film to have not only a woman, but THE WOMAN at the helm. We can all rejoice now, knowing that everything will be fixed.
We can all rejoice J Lo will play Galadriel and all will be fixed and be merry. Only if she gets naked like Game of Thrones early seasons were but then again that wouldn't save this show either.
To put this in perspective, I'm pretty sure most people would say Sauron (both the Peter Jackson version and Tolkien's character overall) was better represented in Death Battle than in a series that was supposed to take the character seriously, and was written by a team of professional writers with all the resources they could ever need.
Because canceling after one season would be admitting that they were wrong. Hence, it’s better to waste money and keep up “the message” then to face the fact that nobody gives a damn about your SJW mantra 🤣

Interesting tidbit, one of the directors on this ALL-FEMALE team was the one who directed Episodes 6 & 7 of Season 1. Episodes 6 & 7 depicted some of the following: - Galadriel and the humans fighting Adar's forces in ridiculous ways (some while on horseback) - Galadriel (the "hero") threatening to kill all of Adar's family (of Orcs) in front of him...just before killing him as well - The water from the released dam somehow causing the creation of Mt. Doom - Galadriel somehow surviving a PYROCLASTIC FLOW with barely a scratch (while a horse near her CATCHES ON FIRE) - Most of the cast ALSO surviving the SAME PYROCLASTIC FLOW - Galadriel trying to hunt down Adar again while spouting BS about "controlling your emotions" (like she didn't just THREATEN Adar in the previous Episode) - The "big reveal" of the Southlands becoming "Mordor" (More crap like this is what everyone can expect for Season 2. Yeah...it's going to F**KING SUCK!)
Mauler brings up a very good point. With all the shit that has been turned out from Hollywood it has now gotten to the point where everyone’s thoughts are the same when it comes to new films and T.V. shows. “It’s going to suck so why bother watching”. This is the unfortunate side effect that the studios have brought upon themselves.
Fan fiction is written by fans who love the source material. They do it for free bc they 😍. These creeps either hate, or think they are improving, the sm. Or both.
The Rings of Power is the reason why Tom Bombadil was absent from the Peter Jackson Films. He saw that shitshow, and decided to withdraw into a forest full of monster trees, just to be sure nobody would ever come and tell him what happened next.
When Galadriel picked up Saber's Excalibur and shouted *"IN THE NAME OF THE MOON, I PUNISH YOU!!!* to transform into the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger and struck a Pillar Men pose, I squealed with pure happiness and glee.
GODDAMNIT it still reminds me of the Green Ranger conundrum: he's blowing THROUGH his helmet INTO a magic dagger that's PRETENDING to be a flute that's PRETENDING to be a synthesizer that caught a cold to summon a all-metal monster that spends most of its time sulking in deep waters
This kind of announcement has always worked out in the past, with such examples of success like... I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I'm sure the list is staggering.
There is a story about a woman trying to start an all female company as her feminist dream and...well...let's just say her expectations were subverted.
the fact that they can give stuff like this a second season but somehow refuse a second season to stuff like firefly or i am not ok with this always just puzzles me.
A 40k adaptation really worries me. Either it will be heavily sanitized and made 'safe' for todays consumptive climate, or it will be true to the source material: over the top, awesome, grandiose in scale....and full of sjw landmines To wit: astartes are a boys club,an entire Legion of dark skinned pyromaniacs, authoritarian absolutist space church state as the good guys, genderfluid sex daemons, aliens being evil and dangerous by definition, and ofcourse, an absolutely powerfull, flawed(but ultimately correct and protective) god like patriach leading it all? By this point adapting 'Love can bloom' might be _less_ controversial.... But If it works, is true to the source abd is a hit...that would be a blessing from the Throne!!
The "Free advertising from the media" angle is way too true. They (Disney) knew the show was vastly underperforming, so they had to go all in with a gimmick that will bring in a niche for at least a few episodes. Some will watch a shitty show out of loyalty.
Maybe for a little while but soon those “fans” will fall away. Even the LOTR “super fan” they used in the promo admitted on camera she hasn’t watched ROP and prefers House of Dragon.
Honestly if you guys want to watch a high end fantasy show, the dark crystal age of resistance, yes it has puppets but they're more charasmatic than actors nowadays. Puppeteering is the best , the voice acting is amazing with many talented people that give it they're all; Mark Hamill, Jason Isaacs to name a few
They captured Jim Hensons style and uses it so well! And it was written pretty well, nothing mind blowing but it was still pretty good. Everything from production to music to acting. It was successful in its endeavors
"Friend, when you have a square peg and you can't get it to fit in a round hole, what do you do?" "Get a bigger hammer and keep smacking it until it fits!"
On a good note, channels that review Season 2 of the Rings of Power will be doing quite well! The first Season really boosted number on these channels! 🥳
Aside from some kind of gender mix, what a writer's room could really use is at least one person empowered to say, "That's a stupid idea, and if we go with it, it will sink the episode, if not the season, like a stone [the kind borne down by gravity, not decisions].) I mean, "She-Hulk" apparently had at least a couple of men in the writer's room, but was there *anyone* who could tell Gao they were marching off of a cliff?
Those “men” were hand-picked to approve enthusiastically everything Jessica Gao said. No independent thought was allowed in that writers’ room nor in any of these woke productions. I can’t blame the “yes men” or “yes people” - if one were to speak out, one would lose one’s job and get cancelled - and then good luck finding any other work in that line.
The concept of diversity that gets promoted is also incredibly shallow. They'll claim to be diverse because there are different ethnicities represented or some of them are gay or bi, but in so many other ways the people they choose are all the same. The same middle and upper-middle class backgrounds growing up in suburbia, parents in white collar jobs, going to the same schools/universities and doing the same courses, all a similar age with similar career histories, share the same politics, consume the same entertainment, eat at the same restaurants, kids at the same kindergartens, talk and write in the same way, etc, etc. The diversity is literally skin deep because there's so little variation in who they are as people.
As a long-time fan of the Wheel of Time books, it deeply hurts my soul to know just how much they absolutely desecrated its legacy. There's a good chance it will never be done justice on the screen now, because nobody will ever even try after this mess. Robert Jordan must be spinning in his grave

Remember, all positions are filtered through CRT in Hollywood. Merit and talent is not the key factor any more. Writer/Directors, as @Nerdrotic has said, are Cast not Hired. Has anyone started to dig up and expose those responsible for the headhunting and hiring? I'm starting to think we need to know. It's those agents of chaos and evil who are ruining everything.
Amazon : Ok here it goes, ROP season 2, directed by Patty Jenkins and Elizabeth Banks. Jennifer Lawrence as Elendil and Whoopi Goldberg as Tom Bombadill.
There is a broader issue in this. Hollywood is throwing a lot of money after these failed cases that women with no qualifications are ruining. We could have had amazing series with properly lead and written shows, but Hollywood went for the box checking instead, and now a lot of the Hollywood production companies and film and "entertainment" studios are either bankrupt or close to it. That is bad management and terrible for the share price, and in the end we will get a lot less Fantasy/superhero/Sci-Fi shows because they weren't financially successful.
I love the little platoon, please keep inviting him to your Chaser In the Future can you discuss the Epic Warhammer 40k production that is slated to be done with Henry Cavill and Amazon and everyone's thoughts or predictions on that IP
The reality is that most people do not care what the gender makeup or orientation of the creative team. All they're telling us is that they're concerned about everything else but a good and entertaining story.
At this point I have to believe they're just trying to see if they're genuinely too big to fail, because I can't think of any other reason why would anyone do this knowing they'd be relentlessly mocked for it.
If they got Christopher Judge for the God of War TV show, it would most like be the exact same situation as the Witcher show; you'd have an extremely passionate lead actor that fits the role perfectly trying to single-handedly carry a show that's written and directed by people that despise the source material and just want to use a recognized franchise name to sell their own "artistic vision".
I’m feeling a lot of dread about the prospect of Amazon ruining Invincible in later seasons. Because there is a scene (spoiler alert) of a woman raping a man in the comics. Now with an agenda like this, I’m sure Amazon will twist it to make the male victim a bad guy and should apologize to the female rapist, just like how Netflix handled Bridgerton.
Do you also get dread reading fan fiction? Bc that's what ROP is, it's an expensive fan fiction. Even the Jackson's trilogy is a fan fiction as it did not involve the creator.

Well, Season 2 of RoP is going to get the same treatment as Season 1 - watching the first episode, writing an honest review, and then forgetting that the show exist until next season.
If KK leaves LucasFilm, we know she’ll have a show to goto. 🤣 Maybe Jennifer Laurence needs to be cast in season 2 so she can be the first woman in a Fantasy show.
If they make the whole of season 2 nothing more than a one woman show starring Jennifer Lawrence I might actually watch it for the comedy value, although I suspect I'd have to be high on ketamine to properly appreciate it.
I think all these middle-aged powerskirts were traumatized by seeing a 1930s 'Our Gang' short on TV once, where a treehouse had a 'No Girls Allowd' sign on the door. They think it actually happened to them, and they've been out for revenge ever since.
This reminds me of that advert Amazon were showing on TV a few months back, with the Indian Amazon workers? I think it started by saying that there are some workplaces that are 100% male, and then proudly announces that they have a department in India that is 100% female. Umm...isn't that just as (potentially) sexist and problematic as a 100% male office?!? But then they add a line at the end about making things better...implying that a 100% female workplace is somehow better, simply by having vaginas? The sexism is absolutely mindblowig and its equally mind blowing that Amazon can't see it.
I have a student who used to be a high-up content guy, and the hiring quotas are real, yeah. As a LOTR fan-fic I really like the show. As "Tolkien" it's terribad. But imo it's really not the direction that's the problem: if they can at least keep a consistent LEVEL of quality while punching their checklists, that'll be fine, and slow doesn't bother me for LOTR stuff. It's the *writing.* You can see the actors desperately trying to make the writing work and man, they're doing a yeoman's job of turning that sow's ear into a silk purse...like Prequel Star Wars, I feel sorry for the actors who are going to be judged by what is fundamentally a showrunner/writing problem.
ROP/Amazon management are still desperate to get season 1 viewing numbers up, so they're trying to keep it in the headlines in the weak hope that someone hasn't heard about how poor it was and that they'll binge watch season 1 on catch-up. I'm sure their viewing numbers will shoot up by 1 or 2... but that won't help season 2.
One of the most stupid trends in Hollywood/TV recently is idiots trying to adapt already highly cinematic games into TV shows (like Last of Us and God of War). Like it can't get more obvious than this that they are doing this to insert more progressive ideology into these franchises not for any legitimate artistic reasons.
I was somewhat interested in the Last of Us one because although they were race swapping Joel, the actor is a fan and is actually good, but then somehow this raceswapped character who is now Spanish has a black daughter... Ummm, have we completely given up on even trying to have a facade?
They confirmed the second season was written the same time as the first and they weren't changing it. So when they said season two would be closer to Canon they either wrote that anyway or they didn't and they were lying. I'm betting its the latter

Mocking them for the correct things is very important.
Believing you can write the lost pages of Tolkien is like believing you can write the lost Mozart sonatas. That's why this entire project is so obtuse. I'd change my pen name if I was hired on this project. Fortunately for me, it makes for a good talking point for selling my own project - this writer is still alive.
6:27 hits the nail on the head. Gender shouldn’t matter but results do. One of the best episodes of House Of The Dragon (king entering the throne room defending his daughter) was directed by female. Epic but hardly anyone knows that nor should her gender matter. Rings Of Power was one big WTF on all fronts except certain visuals. I think it’s just a case of incompetence at play here and no amount of gender representation is going to fix that. I’m not sure but zo think writing has gotten insanely worse since that writers strike years ago when the writers demanded % of some sales. I remember there were shows not able to finish or got cut short because writers went on strike. Did Hollywood ever recover from that or did the good writers just got blacklisted or left the industry entirely? I don’t know but that seems to be the junction point where it all went wrong.

@Jean-Sébastien McNicoll Ah man it was freakin' awesome I loved it!! Literally amazing how many bad reviews those critics are not looking with their eyes
Here's something to ponder, in writing, male authors will tend to write STRONG, INTELLIGENT Women that compliment their Male Counterparts. They bring actual VALUE to the plot and story, and in many cases offer insight or pick up on something that the guy has missed. Where as, female authors, on the whole, by and large write their male characters as mostly idiots and dolts or incompetent, where the female lead has to continually "help" them. There are exceptions to this of course, such as JK Rowling, and Margaret Weis, while on the opposite side of the spectrum you have awful writing from the likes of Margaret Atwood and so many others.
It's not just female authors that are doing that, modern male characters MUST be presented as secondary to female characters, they are not allowed to be strong and independent, only women are. Look at halo. The master chief is relegated to a secondary character in HIS OWN SHOW. Look at masters of the universe, there are no male characters at all. This means that it will be the first fantasy series made into film to have not only a woman, but THE WOMAN at the helm. We can all rejoice now, knowing that everything will be fixed.

To put this in perspective, I'm pretty sure most people would say Sauron (both the Peter Jackson version and Tolkien's character overall) was better represented in Death Battle than in a series that was supposed to take the character seriously, and was written by a team of professional writers with all the resources they could ever need.

Interesting tidbit, one of the directors on this ALL-FEMALE team was the one who directed Episodes 6 & 7 of Season 1. Episodes 6 & 7 depicted some of the following:
- Galadriel and the humans fighting Adar's forces in ridiculous ways (some while on horseback)
- Galadriel (the "hero") threatening to kill all of Adar's family (of Orcs) in front of him...just before killing him as well
- The water from the released dam somehow causing the creation of Mt. Doom
- Galadriel somehow surviving a PYROCLASTIC FLOW with barely a scratch (while a horse near her CATCHES ON FIRE)
- Most of the cast ALSO surviving the SAME PYROCLASTIC FLOW
- Galadriel trying to hunt down Adar again while spouting BS about "controlling your emotions" (like she didn't just THREATEN Adar in the previous Episode)
- The "big reveal" of the Southlands becoming "Mordor"
(More crap like this is what everyone can expect for Season 2. Yeah...it's going to F**KING SUCK!)

The concept of diversity that gets promoted is also incredibly shallow.
