    Great video as always 🤟 APRS is like the original Meshtastic that radio amateurs have been playing around with since the late 80s. Worldwide network of long distance small packets used for messaging and positioning. 📡 One of the frequencies you can choose in APRS is the one from the international space station that actually has an APRS digipeater on board 🛰

      One of the main reasons we use APRS is for location during a disaster situation. There is an icon set, emergency shelter, hospital, food location etc. I’ve been a ham operator many years. I encourage everyone to get licensed. Enjoy the videos! 73, k5adb

      Do you know if it would be possible to receive Meshtastic Messages on the HackRF1 or would it need the app/programming?

    • @sn0ren
      @sn0ren Před 2 měsíci

      @@CyberNinja6969 There is no app for decoding Meshtastic on the Portpack currently. Meshtastic is using LoRa modules, and while Meshtastic is open source, LoRa is not. So it would require reverse engineering the modulation packets. I think it would be possible given someone put the time into it.

      I picked up a helical antenna to pick up coms from the ISS, and I'm hoping to pick up the green cube satellite. If you ever go that route, it's helpful to get an LNA to power the antenna if it requires it. You can use a tape measure yagi uda to hit satellites so you don't have to spend an arm, a leg, and a kidney. 🤣🤙🏾

    'squatch, what you need for the tv demo (easiest way, probably) is an old video game converter box, like for the early Ataris and maybe Playstation...? Or C64.
    They're a little box with a slide switch to select channel 2 or 3 to send to the tv.
