Harry came to the lane in 87 when I was 12 and was obsessed with united. I lived a stones throw away from the lane on glover Rd. My childhood was made a dream following United and I can only thank Harry from the bottom of my heart for all the great days he brought. Thanks Harry the greatest manager of my lifetime ❤️

What an absolute legend! Even before watching this I'd consider him our greatest manager, but the added loyalty and what owners out him through at times...one of a kind. Thank you Dave Bassett for all the memories!

Honest straight talking brilliant manager for Sheffield United that gave the Blades fans so many happy memories. Dave Harry Bassett a true legend of the Lane. All the very best Harry, once a Blade always a Blade.

Forest fan here, good to see Harry looking well, Harry gave me my last proper memories with forest when he took us up as champions in 98, Van Hooijdonk and Campbell were great to watch, unfortunately again for forest with our owners we had no ambition, Frank Clarke took us up after Clough left in 93/94 finishing 2nd, then finished 3rd in the premier first season back, then the following season got to the quarter finals of now the Europa league, sold collymore and crashed again. Think this is why I have a soft spot for Sheffield because I knew Harry was a fan, I'd love to see both Sheffield clubs back in the premier league, great memories of them growing up, plus Brammel Lane is a great venue to watch football. Good luck next seson, you'll be fighting for top 2 that's for sure

When Dave Bassett was appointed manager I was pleased. I thought he was just what we needed.
Having watched this video I am doubly pleased.
We had an absolute gemstone of a manager and I don't think we could have picked anyone better at that time and thank God he accepted the position. Thank you Dave Bassett.

Love Harry, always have, always will. The most "normal" manager we ever had. In the early 90's I was in a Military Hospital in Germany, my old man went down the Lane, asked to see the manager and was invited in, Harry signed a get-well card and gave him a load of other stuff like posters etc. It helped that my dad had been involved with Workshop 6 in Sharrow, that were making brass plaques etc. for the club, and he knew DD from that, but still... Harry didn't know him from Adam. Got loads of stories about Harry, I even did some scouting for him, only pay was a free ticket to a match and a meal in the VIP/Excec boxes, but that was ok.

Very enjoyable interview with Dave “ Harry “ Basset
Fantastic football knowledge and memories of the games and people he was involved with over the years.
I was lucky enough to have been a Sheffield United supporter through all the ups and downs of Harry’s time at the lane and remembered much of what he was talking about.
Probably one of the easiest interviews anyone could ever do.
Just wind him up and let him go …..
    Thanks for everything Harry ⚔️👍🏻
    Stay healthy 👍🏻and
    Up the Blades 👊🏻⚔️
