  • Tasmania's Overland Track is a famously spectacular and challenging five-day walk. So just imagine what it's like to run!
One day a year 60 runners head off from the iconic Cradle Mountain at dawn, and negotiate the track's near-vertical rock faces, muddy bogs and ridiculous root tangles, all with the aim of arriving at Lake St Clair before sundown.
This February the event had its 40th birthday, and as always, those runners tackling it for the first time found out what a beautiful but ‘brutal’ one it can be.
