  • Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign has finally released after a very long wait, and it brings its own twist on familiar concepts as you dive into medieval warfare around the Mediterranean. In this beginner's guide video we'll take a look at some essential tips to get you familiar with concepts that play very differently from other games in the genre - we'll be looking at the titular knights, how province management works, and how army recruitment and training works. While the game does a great job of explaining many of its concepts, there are certain elements that are left understated, or otherwise unexplained, and this tutorial video will highlight these essential tips and tricks.

Other types of knights can gain the ability to lead armies through the call to arms ability found in various secondary skills

Yes, but why limit it to 8 knights and 1 king to lead armies? And why are the armies so small? If you achieve emperor ship and try to take over the world, you are really limited by how many generals you can command. I get around that a little by hiring every mercenary I can, but you can’t control them.

Impressed by the sensible way decisions to appoint and upgrade knights, make and upgrade buildings, plays out. This rewards thinking and planning. With all the dimensions to manage and the wider world unfolding the game rewards the savvy and shrewd monarch. Executing expansion plans adds the strategic, tactical layer and tests army management. The game has it all in a nice package. How can people not like that?

I would recommend any 2 melee infantry, 2 cav, and many archers. Control these right and focus all your archers and marshal on the enemy leader in battle when he starts to charge in then you'll mostly likely win. The cav, just use them to either stall or chase down enemy annoying archers and you'll be winning most battles. I mainly do that to get all of their experience to level 3 since it is annoying to keep losing troops but after a while, you won't need to control it no more and let it auto. I don't recommend auto against 2 enemy army.

If your army is stronger let’s say you have an army of pure knights and armored archer if there little stronger your knights will stand strong as long as the cap points remain and there lord is there the King gives a a unbreakable morale buff specially when deafing
cheap soldiers will break but when my max out king charges in to close a gap or reforce there morale will go up
however if you fighting rebels and your soldiers will laughter them even with 4000 vs 10000 your get a massive debuff of outnumber…
I litterly saw my army of veterans of 5 wars run away when I tried to fight the battle myself
worse part is my 2 knights almost killed the emery lord and killed 2 squards themselves but broke….
home core terrory will boost morale but sometimes it might be best to let them raid you while you wait for them to attack the city.

Those two mechanics are throwing me for such a massive loop and it’s so frustrating trying to manage them but I see NOBODY talk about them. I’m completely left in the dark on how to bring them up. It’s especially frustrating because wanting to go to war gives such a massive decrease in both that war just doesn’t feel worth it at all.

Seems I'm too stupid for this game. I loved the first one but can't seem to understand how this one works. My biggest problem is that I'm always weaker than enemy armies. I need atleast two Marshals to capture a City and then I need to go back because I had heavy losses. In the mean time the enemy attacks and while my armies cap at around 2600 soldiers, their armies usually have around 3000 sometimes even up to almost 5000 soldiers. I'm also baffled that they can build armies so fast. I have always money trouble and not enough people to recruit. So it takes usually somet time to replenish my armies. And I'm playing on easy. I feel like an idiot.

Actually any knight can be called to arms when a desperate defense is needed or you need a another leader, I called a spy to arms because I had rebels as I was crushing Muslims nations in the south I think spy at least.
Been playing for 2 days as Georgia 🇬🇪 but know it’s says call to arms (description call lord to arms in a desperate defense… I think any class can but they don’t boost military by much as there skills not suited for that task.. so any army there leading will be really weak, only used if your broke or need another leader.

You can marry folks for sure! You have to select the target realm, click the 'audience' button, and then 'offer' a 'royal marriage'. Naturally you need to have progeny of the right age, and you can check which foreign realms have marriage-potential using the minimap (there's a map mode that highlights princesses and princes available for marriage).
As for a playthrough - I'm not 100% sure just yet - there's a few other things on the docket too, and I'll see what folks are interested in most as well as what I'm enjoying most!

    • @eclipset.9683
      @eclipset.9683 Před rokem

I haven't paid much attention yet to how it works in this game, but it might be similar to Knights of Honor 1, where there were "kingdom special units" and "local special units". Kingdom special units, like maybe "men at arms" (a common one for the first game) would be available in any province your kingdom controls. Local special units, like "Normans" might only be available in one or a few provinces, since the unit is historically linked to that specific region/province. (Normans from Normandry, for example). In the first game, I believe some units that were traditionally local, could also be on a kingdom's special units list.
KoH2 likely has a similar system.

I haven't played KHII yet, but i played KH 2004 a lot. Some aspects at the beginning of the game can make your campain easier or harder. The potencial of your villages (farms, mines, monasteries) and the number of members of the royal family can slower or fast your development. And this are random. I always bet on merchants at the beginning of the game in order to increase gold and thus develop buildings faster.
To defend myself i had to play in aticipation. Look for armys at war on you or rebels and intercept them far way from you castle. Let the battle rage on and before your marshall get killed retreat and quickly went to the castle and recruit more peasants and try to intercept the agressor army again outside the castle. Everytime your marshall went to a battle his experience increases. When you can choose a skill, in 2004 i chose "tactics" the skill to build a temporary fort. With this skill you were unstopple. :)

If it helps, this game is a much more accessible grand strategy game compared to other options. This sequel has more depth than the original, but it's fairly easy to jump in. Most everything you need to start playing is right in front of you. I'd recommend starting with a few provinces (3~5), as starting with less can be challenging. The neighboring AI can often be aggressive, so you'll want to form non aggression pacts quickly with those that are larger/stronger than you.
A lot of what's happening in this game doesn't require you to be aware of it, or to tinker with it. You'll also get to start easily and learn the rest as you go.

@@moodyharvest Are you talking about the Holy Roman Empire? There were many kingdoms/empires that were bigger or as big as biggest modern European states, Muscovy/Russia, Ottoman Empire, Spain, France, Polish-Lihuanian Union, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark-Norway for example. And colonies in foreign continents even.
