Midori has said that her favorite Japanese guitarists are Leda of BM's Kami Band and Syu of Galneryus. RF was a late-night TV show 2006-7 and was resurrected few years ago on y t. Watched it regularly back then and do so now. Rolly has often worked on TV in Japan, not just music-related programs but variety and talk shows too. He is quite knowledgeable on rock and metal history and has been a commentator and host for TV documentaries on the subject.

I also heard Mikio Fujioka was her guitar sensei at one point. Midori has many guitar influences, which is why she is such a well-rounded player.
@@TheCyberMantis Hey CyberMantis. They met at Musicians Institute Osaka. Fujioka used to do seminars there and she took part in several. At his seminars he wouldn't just lecture but all the participants would play and sometimes there'd be jam sessions. Hazuki of Nemophila did those seminars and also had a class with Fujioka at MI Tokyo. Many musicians took his classes and/or seminars. Fujioka was a big influence on many musicians including the other Kami Band players and Syu.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu Leda supported Miyako's unit Sonic Lover Reckless in December 2018 I think, but Midori met Leda some years before then, at Musicians Institute Osaka when he gave a seminar there. Her friend was a roadie with his band Undivide and she met him backstage then too, 2013. There was a big Mikio Fujioka memorial concert at Club Citta in April of 2018 at which of course Leda played-just about anyone who had anything to do with Mikio musically was there-and Midori was part of staff helping an MI all-star unit that performed, though she herself didn't play. She mentioned meeting him there too.

Rolly Teranishi is a vocalist & guitarist of a gram rock band "Sukanchi" since 1982. He is 59 yo now (looks very young). He has a secret guitar playing technic "Laughing guitar method".

Angra is a brazilian band they mix classical music with power metal and brazilian music.
They are HUGE in japan, a inspiration for many bands there.
For an old song i would recommend The Shadow Hunter or a MAGIC MIRROR for a newer one

Kiko used to be in Angra but is now the lead guitarist in Megadeth, Marty's old band as you know!!
Alexi Laiho sadly passed away in recent years, fantastic guitar player, Children of Bodom have been one of my favorite bands since i was a kid, especially when i got into playing drums and started to focus more on metal music. Im also an Avenged Sevenfold fan. Midori's list is pretty close to my tastes!! thanks GMG this is awesome, looking forward to part2!! 🤘

Happy Birthday to the mega guitarist with the mega watt smile. Midori and Syu together would be an epic sight to see and experience. The M&M show have learned from each other and pushed each other to be even better than solo. None of the guitarists that either admire surprise me, they are all world class.

Midori posted pics of her a Syu together at the ESP Guitar Craft Academy back in either 2022 or 2021. It was cool to see them together.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu Excellent thanks for the heads-up. Syu is exceptional but so underrated and gets so little credit compared to other guitarists. Now if I can get M&M to play with Hal-Ca of Asterism, then I can have another Hendrix LIVE moment!!!

@@jmetallover I always see in the comments that people think Midori and Miyako are the best guitar duo in history or whatever, and while I think that’s a foolish conversation at best, it would be a conversation that would be ended if Hal-Ca and Syu ever teamed up.
the best part of Marty playing the Angra riff with Midori and Miyako was that during this time, Kiko was still lead guitars for Megadeth, Marty's most well-known former band.
Kiko Loureiro has footage on his youtube channel jamming with Marty from the two shows in 2023 when Megadeth invited Marty to play a few songs with them on stage, at Budokan and at Wacken
Can't say Lovebites is my favorite Japanese female metal band, but Midori and Miyako are arguably the 2 best female guitarists in Japan , at least from the several bands i've checked out. Not sure of Midori's age, but i gather she only started playing guitar at age 20, which makes her talents all the more amazing.

That shower comment struck me as odd too. I’d expect that out of the toxic fanboys that think Midori and Miyako invented the guitar, not out of a host sitting right there with them.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu Cultural differences. All jokes aside, I thought it was cute that they share a hotel room together, and have to decide who gets to shower first. They are so adorable, and we respect them. I always enjoy stories about life on the road.
@@TheCyberMantis Yeah, I'll agree with "cultural differences" and leave it there. I could sit and listen to Midori and Miyako and especially Marty tell stories all day. I've liked Marty since the early 90s when he and Jason Becker were shredding together. I was so happy to see him with Megadeth back in 1995 on the Youthanasia tour.

My favorite part of the video is hearing Midori playing “Mr. Scary.” I was so proud when I first learned to play that on guitar! George Lynch is a legend, and not just because he snorted cocaine off of Freddy Kreuger’s claws.

The popular Extreme hits don't come close to showing off the talent of Nuno. You can find videos of Nuno jamming with the likes of Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Brian May, Zakk Wylde and Tosin Abasi. His work in Extreme is even under-rated when you look past the Pop hits. Nuno has done some medleys of his Extreme guitar parts during solo tours that showcase this. He has been getting a lot of praise for is solo in Extreme's latest single "Rise" so that's one definitely worth a reaction if you want the latest example to see what all the hype is about.

Both are these ladies are great guitarists. One thing that struck me about Children of Bodom and Lovebites is that they're both very heavy-metal influenced and melodic and very unique in their sound even if some things (like lyrical content) have obvious differences.

I've had the pleasure of meeting everyone on Midori's list except for Alexi and have met Marty multiple times. I think Marty and Midori are good friends.

Rolly looks a little different when he isn't in his heavy metal get up. He actually participated in an early Babymetal interview ( Music Japan Annex Interview + Megitsune - 2013 ). It was pretty funny. Sadly, the only version I have seen was only four and a half minutes. I am not sure if there is a longer version. He is a funny guy. This a great show!

Angra is freaking popualr in Japan since the 90s. I would say that 80% of the powermetal/progressive/synphonic metal bands in Japan have influence from Angra, LOVEBITES, Lisa-X, Unlucky Morpheus, Galneryus and many more.

As to the statement about western women's rights. You need to learn a bit more about how women are treated in Japan.
My comment was actually a shade against how crazy some of the extreme crazies act here in the U.S. specifically, but I'm always interested to know more about cultures.
