Imagine what it must be like to be an R&B nightclub singer only to be plucked out and plopped onto center stage as Lovebites' front woman. You know you gotta be good to make that transition.
That was the plan designed to make Lovebites the creator of metal music without boundaries, unique and unprecedented. That soul performance by her is testimonial resume for her to receive seal of approval from the band mates who themselves are great music writers, composers and proficient performers.

MIYAKO IS GOD!!! Agreed. Burden of Time is my favorite, I've listened to it serval times. That southern rock feel did it for me. Really shows how good they truly are. Show me another band where a Japanese super model plays guitar and key board AT THE SAME TIME!!!! You really have to react to "Epilogue" their '80's style ballad. It brought a couple of male reactors to tears. This is a must to get the full range of their talent. A wolf pack member who just subscribed reporting for duty.

Nice reaction. These three songs tend to get less attention, but they are all excellent. But then again Lovebites are incapable of producing bad songs.

Out of all of these, I suppose I would vote for Today is the Day as my favorite - only because it is more recent and they are more experienced when they play it. So everything is more complex, more technical, more precise, and oh so beautiful and amazing. A complete show. But Above the Black Sea is also one of my personal favorites because the performance is less about the show and more about the ladies themselves, their beauty, their passion, their desire, and their talent.
It was cool to see where Asami came from and how she can sing a different style. It isn't my style of music either, but it is amazing to see how much she has changed and really grown into an awesome metal singer.

Today is the Day - I love that Asami added piano parts to it, and how they moved around more on stage and up and down the stairs. They continue to add to their shows and make them bigger. Plus the solos were outstanding as always. Both Midori and Miyako are getting better and better. They have a way of making you so happy. But... Asami hugging Miho made me want to cry.
Next shows they play, they will have a giant mechanical wolf come out from behind Haruna's drum kit... with lasers coming out of it's eyes and fire out of it's mouth. The crowd will lose their sh1t.... and in that moment.... they will be... the next Iron Maiden.

Eagle Fly Free was so awesome. I loved this song when Helloween played it, but when these girls play it they make it sound so sensational on their instruments. I love how Miho and Haruna get their own solo parts in it, and they show how amazing they both truly are. And Asami's high notes are phenomenal.
Lovebites didn't simply "cover" this amazing song. THEY MADE A STATEMENT.
Haruna's favorite band, so they had to knock it out of the part. And they DID.
Another dimension of this is the piano cover by Miyako, available on EP "Etude Op.23" since last week. It's different, and it's not. It just adds another dimension!
The favorite song syndrome strikes again! I love it. Lovebites does this to everybody. It happened to me too, every new song I hear from them becomes my favorite, until I hear the next one, and then the next one becomes my favorite, and so on, and so on. Because they are all soooo good!

I love Burden of Time. There's a little bit of a southern rock vibe thrown in there. And Miyako playing guitar and keyboard at the same time? Are you kidding me??? In all of my years of watching bands, I have never seen anyone else do that. I've watched this video many times, and each time I just shake my head in disbelief. Miyako is a musical genius. I actually watched another reactor, who claimed he was a guitar teacher, say that it was obvious Miyako was still learning guitar because she looks at her hands a lot. He said she may be good someday if she keeps practicing. Just goes to show you that there are some seriously dumb MFers out there. He can only wish to be 1/10th as good as Miyako. Obviously, that guitar teacher is really jealous of Miyako's talent. Probably her play is a lot better than his play. Even if she looks at her hand, that dosen't matter. It's Miyako style, like Ritchie Blackmore has his own style, Michael Shenker has his own.

I was waiting for you both to remark on their er.... civilian clothes in the live studio performances and especially to notice that Miho was wearing a Metallica T-shirt!
They are all dressed so nice and classy. Even princess Miho in her "Ride the Lightning" shirt!
Above the Black Sea is an amazing song. I love this video so much for several reasons, one, like you said, it shows the band early on, in only their second year of performing, and the first time in Germany and probably also on a stage this big outside of Japan. Two, it shows great close-ups of the girls' faces and shows their passion and hunger and desire to succeed. And three the song starts with an epic solo by Miyako, and then ends in killer fashion with an amazing guitar solo by Midori and amazing belts and a high note from Asami. I also love how Asami takes control of a large crowd who had never even heard of them before and got them to respond and cheer loudly. If you watch that whole concert you will see how the crowd gets more and more into it, and when they close it out with Shadowmaker they go wild and chant out their name as they leave the stage. The girls said in interviews that this was their breakout performance. It's probably what helped them win the award for best new band. Asami said they didn't know what to expect going in, if anybody would even come to see them. She said she would have been happy if just the first five rows were filled. When she came out on stage she was so happy her voice cracked when she greeted the audience because the whole tent was soon filled. I think I heard somewhere it was about 10,000 people but I could be wrong on that.
Yeah, it's a great performance.
I saw an awesome interview (which fortunately had English subs) where Asami said they were all super nervous. No one really knew who they were, so they were playing an earlier set in the middle of the afternoon. Unlike a concert in a stadium with the lights down, they could SEE 15,000 people out there, all visible, and they were kinda freaked out. But then they started, and Haruna was just on point, and everything fell perfectly together. The interviewer joked that maybe Haruna couldn't see the crowd over her drumset, and Asami laughed too. She said this was the show that won them the Metal Gods award, and they consider it to be their big break out moment.
Eagle Fly Free is the best cover song I have ever seen on this entire planet!!! This coming from a mega Helloween fan from way back! Haruna said she is a huge fan Uli Kusch who drummed for the band after Ingo, but I believe Ingo is looking down on this performance and sayin, yeah this is worthy! RIP Ingo!
Oh one thing I must add. You mentioned their blend of contemporary sound with traditional metal. Well that just about sums up Japan in a nutshell... modern, vibrant and innovative but with deep respect and reverence for their forebears and traditions.
I love the cover of Eagle Fly Free. They played that song perfectly and I loved how they put the spotlight on Miho and Haruna and gave them a chance to shine. Miho didn't get enough credit when she was in the band in my opinion. Thanks so much for sharing this 🤘
Good call on the time frame. The band says this was their break out performance and is what first started their international attention.
Miho is a big Iron Maiden fan.
Obviously I would love to see Lovebites at any venue but the Wacken Open Air Show, would probably be my choice. For much the same reasons you described. An earlier performance with great camera work, editing and great audio. To be on the front row close to the talent on stage with out any Covid restrictions and although there is a security barrier. there is not a void with disinterested security guards wandering about, would be a wonderful thing.
Watching Today Is The Day, Asami radiated beauty and as you say is on the prowl. While she is playing the piano, she looks to the camera and smiles, the world becomes a better place. I can't remember which one of the Lovebites lady's new or had seen Asami sing from her R&B days but I am amazed they thought she would make an excellent metal singer! Full marks to them.
With Burden Of Time, Miyako genuinely shows she is an inspiring talent and a genius. I am an older person so remember various rock/metal bands that people would claim the musicians are 'Gods' because they could play more than four chords.
Both Miho and Haruna shine more than normal with the Helloween cover. I know this is rather patronising but I think Haruna looks like she has bunked off School, to play with the big girls in this studio session. In the earlier song, as you pointed out, she plays killer drum patterns and fills, twizzles her stick and sings along at the same time!

Miho's face at the beginning of "Beyond the Black Sea": "This is Wacken, Miyako. You'd better not f**k this intro up." Miyako: "No worries, sis...I got this". Today is the day: I have the Riding for Vengeance DVD. It was their first live performance since the whole pandemic lock down. At one point, Asami delivers a speech in Japanese. She's holding back tears. One of our Japanese members of the Wolfpack interpreted her speech for us on a Lovebites fan page on Facebook (if you're here, please respond....we really do appreciate it). The gist of it was they were so happy to be up in front of their fans doing what they love. It brought me to tears. Anyway, I'm loving these Mega Bowls. Great idea! This one dedicated to Lovebites is great. But I enjoy the mixed ones too. Even if there's a band I don't like, that's OK. It's all about the exposure and forming your own opinions. And it seems like there's always something for everyone. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to the next one.

No comparing to any other the best of the best, the great of the greatest, shining ever so bright, yet I am still mind-boggled as to why they only have few subscribers on their channel and all of their songs have not hit the million mark or more.
It's a slow climb to the top. RUSH didn't become RUSH overnight. Maiden either. They played a lot of clubs and small shows, until they got enough buzz to break-out. Once they did, they sky-rocketed. LOVEBITES is right there. They are fueled and ready for launch. When covid fades.... all they need to do is push that ignition button and take off. The world is ready.

The capt Miho is flexing here, she is really the glue that binds them together but I'm sure Fami will live up to the challenge because she equally great at the Bass, Lovebites really needs a bigger Stage, world wide stage, Btw, really great reactions, I feel you guys, once you heard them you really can't get enough....
There are rumours, that 2024 will be the moment, when there's a big international tour. They obviously have several offers from other bands for a cooperation, but have yet to decide, which way to go. First, I'm waiting for the Aug 23rd, 2023, release of live shows from march, and then up to september those japanese live tour events...
Although I love many of these bands from Japan and their music is great and all the pure talent LOVEBITES has is (for me) unmatched this band is relentless in what they do and they always surprise me every time I watch them like when Miyako picked up the Keytar in Spellbound (from heavy metal never Dies dvd) if anyone can make playing this instrument look cool she can and as for those who criticize Asami’s singing…this amazing woman has been singing metal since 2016 when LOVEBITES formed she’s put in the work and the time in the studio and on stage for hours in front of thousands of people she’s earned her place in metal as one of the best singers I’ve ever seen,their songs have kept me entertained and in a better frame of mind from all the stress of this messed up world right now….sorry about the long comment anyways keep up the great work both of you…stay safe and stay metal 🤘🤘👉👉🇨🇦🇨🇦
As they all have an exceptional level of technicality on their instrument, when you watch them play you have the impression that they play without pressure, as if it was the usual practice, and they can allow themselves some fantasies, like Haruna who spins her sticks.

I'm so heartbroken about Miho leaving the band. Her stage presence was a huge part of the energy the band brought to the stage. You could always count on Miho to be headbanging during a song and she was just as talented as the rest of them. The new bassist is going to have some pretty big shoes to fill.
Agreed. We haven't known about Lovebites for as long as many of you have, but even in the short time we see how important she is. She was a key person for this band. We will miss her too. I am just keeping positive that when the time is right they'll find the right one. She won't be Miho, but that's OK as long as she can slay that bass! I have faith they'll find the right person.

Their energy is just unmatched. Midori and Miyako are making a lot of other guitarists lay down their guitars. I love the song Today Is The Day. That song was pedal to the metal from start to finish and I didn't know who to pay attention to because they were all playing at the top of their game. Thanks so much for sharing. This was awesome!

She already had her first album in February and first live appearance in March, we are heading for a Live-DVD/Blur-ray/2CD on August 23rd, 2023, called "Knocking On Heaven's Gate"! Fami was probably one of the few bassists around to fill that gap. I've got the feeling, she'll perfectly fill that spot!

Just wanted to say, for those unaware, Helloween was Haruna's favorite band. So I quite like seeing them do a cover of one of their songs. I'd actually love to see them do this one live in a show, assuming they start performing again.

According to their website, Midori only started learning the guitar when she was 20 years old. How old is she now? I mean, she has about two decades of experience but she must still be in her 20s, right?
They are all early 1990s (Miyako is definitely April 5th, 1990), and Fami went 21 at the beginning of June 2023, so that's 2002!
