Hey guys! A short professional bio is a key ingredient to any personal brand. Comment down below with what you biggest question or frustration is when it comes to building a personal brand.
I'm not sure this will reach you by the time I am finished writing one, but what advice would you give to someone creating a bio for an audience that is a non-profit and base of people they serve? The person whose bio I am working on has experience at a high corporate level, has volunteered quite a bit and wants to continue to be active in causes while crafting and maintaining a corporate image.
1. IDENTIFY YOUR AUDIENCE. 2. START WITH A POWERFUL FIRST SENTENCE. 3. TELL A COMPELLING STORY. 4. INCLUDE A CALL TO ACTION. 5. WRAP IT UP WITH PERSONALITY.
What if you dont do much with your life but you've got to write a bio😁. How do we impress people without lying😂 cause you've got a lot going for you but when I look at my life... let's just say we may have one sentence. Which would be my name😂😂
I've struggled with my bio for sure! Particularly with the very short one, you know, the one that's 1-2 sentences long. Thank you for all the steps to make the bio shine. And I loved your personal example!

This was something I struggled with for a while. When I started RVersity I learned this was way easier when you are doing something you love (or know who you are / what you are talking about) Gotta know your audience!

Heather in the Jobs/Career section on LinkedIn, I am not sure what I should list under "What job titles are you considering?" and "Which industries do you prefer?" I am concerned that I will limit possibilities if I am too specific. What do you suggest?
Susan, great question. My recommendation would be to list industry's and positions that interest you most, without listing a options outside of your targeted area. Get as specific as you can. Which areas are your targeting now?

This is GREAT. I seriously needed this. Writing a bio is surprisingly haaaaard. I use a similar formula for brand videos and never thought to apply it to my bio. This really helps.
Yes I did. It made me very curious about the podcast. I try to draw the line at podcasts since I already have time deficit disorder but it would have definitely made me very eager to listen to the show if I were a regular listener.

After that I give one or two statements on use of my skill set on the given assignment. Then start further discussions. Would like to know your thoughts. Would be more interested to know tips on "brief introduction" during Corporate meetings.
Kiran, I love the idea of start with an authority statement and then moving into key achievements. Be careful, however that you don't come off too boastful. You want to show your authority without bragging. Does that help?

And now my rant: Holy moly, you took them 4 sentences and made 272 seconds worth of "content" out of them. Probably the same amount of time required to produce it. Moments of my youth that shall be gone for ever. And for what? Because you wanted to make more ca$h on your video, by extending it's length. Talk about selfish. Either way, good job, Professor, don't take it too personally - it's the internet, we have mean people over here.
