    Impressive!! Here I was excited about our latest video on steam juicing... and you have a STILL Awesome!

  • @lonelyprepperhomestead911

    I just had to pause the video and go to their website because I kept thinking "Cha Ching" every time you pulled out parts. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the price was very reasonable for what you are getting. Since I have been planning to get a permit for when I find new land, I'm definitely going to look at "all" the stills they have to offer. Thanks for the heads-up ...

    Can you distill essential oils with it or is that a different set up?

    Just keep in mind that what was pictured here in not with the still when you buy it. There are a lot of add ons he got with this still. The sight glass, gauges and the thread tape, etc. are a add on expense.

    DO YOU KNOW IF THE COPPER 1 GAL (150 BUCKS) IS GOOD FOR WATER TREATMENT AS WELL AS MOONSHINE? AND BLESS YOU ! I WAS GOING TO BUY AN ALUMINUM WATER DISTILLER TOP (WAY OVERPRICED YET EFFICIENT) FOR OVER 100 (THAT WORKS W/ MOST POTS .

    • @Anamericanhomestead
      @Anamericanhomestead  Před 7 lety

      Never EVER use aluminum for distilling. You only ever want to use copper or stainless steel. I believe the copper 1 gallon will do fine for distilling water. You just have to built it yourself.

    Everybody has that glass option on stills clawhammer is late in the game on a stainless still with a sight glass! A sight is pointless on a pot still.

      It doesn't work that way. I'm not getting credit or paid for these videos other than taking possession of the still. It's worth it for us getting the still. In a GRID DOWN situation, a still like this would be worth its weight in gold. You will be very happy with your purchase.

    isn't it amazing how everything becomes legal when you pay the proper fees and taxes. the only bad thing with that, is that you have now given the federal government your permission to come on your land at any time they want for "inspections".

    • @Anamericanhomestead
      @Anamericanhomestead  Před 7 lety +1

      I totally understand that. But can you imagine how difficult it would be to obtain one of these AFTER the grid or economy collapsed? Impossible. So I will go along with following the proper federal guidelines in order to obtain and use one of these now. Plus I have chatted with a state inspector online and "inspections" rarely if ever happen to little guys like me. But even if it did, we keep our paperwork and logs in tip top order. Those inspectors are busy with ethanol fuel makers producing 10,000 gallons or more per year. I'll go over all this in another video that discusses the legal issues.

    Why does everyone play banjo music when working around a still. I can not hear your content over the bad music. I will order one of those because it is quality.

  • @MasterRandyHopkins
    @MasterRandyHopkins Před 3 lety

    I am a distiller making small batches for my own use. I find it funny when people like yourself post videos talking about how they went and got a license from the government to make fuel. Anyone who is done this before knows that making your own fuel is not sufficient and you're not going to save any money. Even if you're just making a sure wash which is a neutral spirit at cheap cost, the cost of the sugar yeast and yeast nutrient whether you're using turbo yeast or just adding some tomato paste is going to cost you more per gallon than just paying $2.50 for a gallon of Petro. Let's say you run 50 gallons of mash and you're using enough sugar to produce around 15% per volume alcohol, it takes around 2 lb of sugar per gallon of water. National average of sugar cost is $2 for four pound bag. So, in this instance it would take 100 lb for a 50 gallon batch of mash. That's $100 in sugar along. You're yeald of alcohol for that batch would be around 15 gallons of 185 proof. I'm not sure what the amount or percentage of ethanol per gallon in ethanol-based fuel is, but by the time you add petroleum to the mix, you are still going to pay around $6 a gallon by the time you're overhead cost of making it is considered.

      Randy....you're missing the entire point. This is about preparedness. There is a famous story of a guy in Sarajevo, Bosnia who made money and traded for food for his family because he had a still. You are 100% correct that this RIGHT NOW is not efficient at all when you can just go buy the gallon of gas. But what about when you can't? This becomes priceless!

    MILE HI STILLS ARE MUCH FUCKING BETTER

  • @MasterRandyHopkins
    @MasterRandyHopkins Před 3 lety

    It isn't beneficial because you pay more to make your own fuel to begin with. Plus, once you fill out the paperwork to get a federal license you put yourself on the government's radar. You're not going to benefit financially making your own fuel and now you have to show the government that you are indeed producing ethanol to be used for fuel. You have now cut your own throat by letting them know that you have a still to begin with and they will be monitoring you to see that you are not producing ethanol for consumption.
