The island is litteraly called "Weather Island" in norwegian
Actually the big airports in Norway dont have the yellow markings. This is due to the ground service managing to plow the snow very Regularly. Some of these airports are: Oslo, bergen, tromsø and Bodø (Bodø is the neighbor airport of værøy and is actually pretty big) so its actually only the regional airports that have yellow markings. Just a small fun fact!
Yes, this is a fact!
Yellow markings are only allowed at very remote airports, where snow removal is not possible to handle on a large scale. And yes, only in very few norwegian airports you'll see yellow markings. All major airports are white. No other nordic country has yellow paintings anywhere.
Actually, all runway markings are painted white now, also at the smaller airports. Though there may be that some are still yellow due to not having been repainted in a while.

How to land on a short runway with big planes : Apply full manual brakes, full reverse thrust, full flaps, ground spoilers, and parking brakes for safety!

Værøy is such a beautiful place, been there once. The sun never goes down there in the summer. So weird to live in Norway in the summer u know xD. Especially northern Norway but im kind of lucky since i live in Stavanger which is in the West-South.
