This was so helpful, thank you so much for all of the great information! I'm the Athletics Director at my local Boys & Girls Club and I'm looking into repainting our outdoor basketball courts!
Glad it was helpful!
I’m a new muralist that just got my first outdoor court commission. This video was a godsend, thank you so so so much!
Thanks for sharing these experiences, your videos are very useful!
No problem. Definitely share with other artists if possible.
Good stuff bro. Love the content and tips.
Glad to hear that!

Thank you! Cheers!
Looks great. Thanks for the tips. I've always wanted to paint a court
That's what's up. Its a lot simpler than it looks but laborsome as well.
Thanks man, so well explained
Glad it helped!

Glad to help
I been trying to get this cracking in my home town. Salute g!
That’s what’s up!!!
That's crazy cool 😎. I'm definitely gonna try it imma paint the park at my local park.
Have fun!
Loved the video!! I have one suggestion. That will help with the white lines . After applying the white primer and letting it dry Place your tape and then roll over them with the white primer again. The while paint will bleed through the pores of the texture or any space that the tape didn't stick to but it will be a white bleed one white. After you can paint anything on it like you did. This will minimize the touch ups you have to do on the white.
That trick work wonderfull for lines or really any surface with pores or texture.
Nice suggestion! im down to prove it using that method!
Awesome. Really appreciate this. Would you recommend this type of paint for regular wall murals for better endurance?
excellent info
Glad it was helpful!
Wow. I’m going to Guiries Denver! I used to rely on Sherwin Williams but I’m going over to BM for the Tuffcrete.
🙌🙌🙌
Thank you so much for sharing all of this information! Would you recommend using these paints and primers on asphalt? Wondering if you have painted on asphalt as well?
Yes you can!
Wondering if this is good for blacktop at a school we want to make over. Is it slip resistant?? And good on asphalt??
I have all the paint. My son is crazy excited! Question about the primer. Do you have a photo of the primer you used like you did the paint. I have seen two different primers and not sure what the correct one is to use. One says acrylic epoxy bonding primer by Tuffcrete INSL-X Other one says waterborne bonding primer by INSL-X STIX. Or if you don’t mind looking both up to see what one you used. I’d appreciate that very much. We don’t have the paint store anywhere here of that type so I ordered it all online
Thank You 🖼 🏀
From my experience the Tuffcrete waterborn white base is whats best so that the products you are using can stay the same. Rather than getting it tinted i just got the white base as is. they also have a grey base as well. One thing i do recommend is that you power wash the surface. etch it if possible to get off all the oils and grim in there. after that the surface should be good to go. keep the spare stains afterwards just i case you need to do some repairs. it sucks to have to buy a gallon for a small repair if needed.
I was recommended to use paint with grit sand in it to paint courts. But I really like the results of the stain.
oh wow! Thats a unique type of paint. ill have to try that next time.
I was told to use acrylic grip type with a type of sand in it. Just don’t know what to buy
Did you pre-treat the concrete at all with something like muriatic acid? Also, how did you keep dirt, leaves, etc from blowing onto the court while it was drying?
We didn’t pretreat the court with muriatic acid. We used a stain that was acrylic based so it dried within the hour and we used a blower to remove as much sediment and foreign particles as possible.
@@iamdetour Thanks man. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Your work is awesome and it's inspired me to do a court of my own.
I have a project on my hands doing something like this. I was wondering what the cost is in paint generally?
I would estimate $1-5k but it depends on the number of colors you're trying to purchase
Hi! Im trying to oaibt a basketball court at my local park, i watched your video and was wondering how to find the colors to choose from. I click on link but it only had a few colors on the benmoore color chart link
Many times the paint shop that you purchase this at will be able to tint them to the color you need if they have the right base.
Ok thanks I appreciate it!
Can I use any stain or is tuffcrete the best?
The tuffcrete is a stain that looks a flows like regular latex paint. that was the only material i used on this project.
I dont think other stains are made to be able to be tinted or colored the way you want. the tuffcrete on i was able to get any color i wanted. nothing wrong with experimenting but experiment on a small portion and then see how it goes.
I’m thinking of staining after watching this instead of paint. How long does it last and is it slippery when playing on it?
It's called TuffCrete. specialty paint shops may have this or Patio Paint that is used for ground murals. your able to tint the paint so you can get a wide variety of colors
Fabulous. I will start this next week then. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
@@iamdetour one last question. Did you use Tuffcrete white stain for the lines or a paint?
@@momof5129 yes. Because It is best to use the same product for everything.
Does tuffcrete work on asphalt?
it does as far is ai can tell. i just used it on a asphalt and its turning out pretty good and durable.
@@iamdetour Ok, so tuffcrete is definetely good for the job. Thank you so much for responding!
How much did the paint cost? Me and my friends are about to paint a court
paint is about $35 per gallon.
Hello I’m curious about doing this in my hometown. How do legal aspects play into this. Who would you contact in order to paint something like this on a court?
It's usually the parks and recreation department of the city that you would talk to.
@@iamdetour Thank you Detour. Appreciate the fast answer.
