    In this special episode of Wanderlust MAX , I’m not going it alone! I was excited to visit my long-time friend Josh , who had just moved to Wenatchee WA AKA, “the natch,” the apple capitol of the world, to see how he’s liking THEM APPLES up there in the arid landscape of North Central Washington.
    Wenatchee encompasses an area that includes arid desert landscapes and manicured parks.
    There’s not much moisture in Wenatchee’s air… I was receiving Low-humidity alerts on my weather app;
    After a few moments of exposure in the midday sun, I felt sluggish and drained. So Josh and I decided to take off and go camping up north in the Wenatchee National Forest in an effort to stay cool where there are more trees.
    Back at camp, we settled in to take in the sights and sounds of a large multi-generational group of locals who were camping next to us. Every few minutes they would cry out for their old dog, Bella, who is retired and lives life at her own pace, but slowly wandering around and ignoring the calls of her masters.
    Later in the evening, we heard one of the neighbors yell out “We’re outta firewood!” Shortly thereafter we heard someone ripping live branches out of the trees near our campsite
    ,then we spotted 2 boys scampering away under the moonlight.
    A loud thrashing commotion ensued as we spotted two boys hanging off of the vegatation, who finally retreated with their branches and scampered away under the moonlight.
    We had had enough of the mad river shenanigans and We hightailed it outta there and drove back south toward Wenatchee, but stopped at an outdoor museum that features rusty old farming equipment from the days of the valley’s early settlers.
    Escaping the scorching heat of the direct sunlight is a daily challenge in the natch, so we spent the next day cruising up to Leavenworth where it’s much cooler and taking part in the local recreation as spectators along icicle creek
    My time in Wenatchee gave me a taste of what I imagine spending time on Mars would be like, if Mars were 1000 times hotter. It’s an exposed and arid landscape that also holds much natural beauty, but don’t take my word for it, go up there yourself and see if YOU like THEM APPLES. Thanks for watching this special episode of Wanderlust MAX. Oh Yeah, if you see Bella out there wandering around, tell her to get back to camp, would ya? Thanks.
