Hi, in my country the new yaer begins at frist of the march, when the earth revives again after the winter, when trees begin to sprout .... we celebrate new days in the new years and we call it "norooz" . In persian "no" means new and "rooz" means day, we celebrate 13 days in new year and in this time families go to each other homes to see all of the family and go traveling and at the end of this period at 13th day people go out in the meadow, I love IRAN
It was a very interesting lesson, in fact; a lot of vacabulary to learn, that's what aI like of these classes, my english is not that good, but I am improving.
Pretty good
In my country Christmas in celebrated almot the same way that in US but with traditional food like hallaca, jam bread and chicken salad.
Hi! In my country we celebrate Cristmas Day too, but there's few diferences. First: We are Orthodox, so we celebrate Cristmas on the 7th of January. In the part of my country where I live, there are some nationalities that are Catholic, so we don't go to school on their Cristmas Holidays too. Second: The "Cristmas Tree" in my country is put for New Year, and Santa Claus (srb. Деда Мраз) give gifts the kids on New Year. I'm alredy learning English i school, but I want to learn language faster. This lessons really help me. I'm learning Hungarian to. Thank you!
Никола Станојевић the same stuff about my country. We celebrate this day on January 7. I found "Ded Mraz" to be an Interesting transformation of the Russian phrase "Ded Moroz". What's your mother tongue?
I don't think it's from Russian, it's because all slavic languages are similar. Serbian (dedA Mraz/деда Мраз) And you must be Macedonian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian or Belarus, aren't you???
Никола Станојевић Thanks for your response. I'm Russian. Yeah, you've said it right that all the slavonic languages are similar in some way. Some words might be pretty identical or one may understand the meaning of the word quite easily. Good point! However, "Ded Moroz" is the Russian phrase, not sure if it is the same in Ukranian.
Yes, even if you don't now a language, you can understand some of words that have the same root.
It was very interesting
I’m watching this even tho English is my native language.
In my country Christmas is celebrated with a traditional dinner and some families exchange gifts. The decoration of cities and houses starts in October, we can see colorful lights everywhere. A lot of people go to the mall to take a picture with Santa Claus. Unfortunately it's not cold in December here and it never snows, so people can't make any snowman and Santa Claus is always sweating whenever we see him. \o/
Boston
We need Christmas spirit back..!
"Christmas" is actually European Pagan tradition originally called 'Yule' and predates Jesus' birth.
like all major holidays in Christianity
Liam Miller, wow you're sooooo smart!! NOT!!
In my country the child jesus is who brings the presents
I don't really see how Christmas is an American holiday when it's older than the US itself and is celebrated worldwide.
Карантин даёт о себе знать, учителя уже и это дают смотретьт
is the Puritan Pilgrims who settled in New England didn't approve of the celebration of Christmas.
