    Took up window washing in 2013 after retirement at age 67 and wished I had started years before! I only wash residential windows in and around small town of 1,200 population, although I do have some clients 25-50 miles away. Goal is $10,000 annually to boost my small SS check. I LOVE my WERNER, but seldom open it like you do. My standoff is on a 20' ladder. I also use a 3' 9" WERNER platform, which is great for lifting me above flower garden/shrubbery along foundations. Always looking forward to your postings!

    Construction clean ups. Where the knowledge and skills are put to the test. Great job guys!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    I'm happy that youre showing initial cleaning, there should be more videos like this in general, regular cleans are easy comparing to this

    I googled "window cleaning" and "window washing" for the cities I'm closest too and the most that came up was maybe 5-10 companies that were the regular maid/office cleaning. It feels like I have an untapped market here, but then driving through town a lot of stores look like they have their own employee's clean them or they've already got someone.... (I'm becoming aware of my defeated "why bother, they're just gonna say no" attitude)
    I currently work in pest control so I'm used to climbing up ladders and using cobweb dusting poles plus dealing with customers, which I'm working on being better at so I can be a more confident salesman. I like the idea of owning my own business, but I don't know if I'm in a "grass is greener" phase where any job looks better than my current one, nor can I tell if I'm only interested in it because of the 'low cost' of startup.

    Hey luke, get you some duck hunting boots, they're usually insulated and water proof and calf high pulls on so you can pull up around the outside of pant legs preventing mud from getting on the bottoms. You may look goofy, but you can simply slip them off and put on normal boots for later

    very clever steel wool action. love the birdies singing in the background when you are doing the pole work. don't get to hear that working in the office!!! 🐦

    thanks Luke. .. I got one or two things I'm going to try... it was nice to see you wiping the squeegee on the straight pulls .. most on CZcams don't. .. I thought I was the only one ... cheers

      Thanks man! O yeah for storefronts I usually just tap the blade dry... but if you want a absolute perfect straight pull id always suggest to dry the blade

    Nice job! Do you ever use any of the chemicals / solvents on the market (oil flo, goo-gone, etc), or do you stick with soap, blade, and steel wool? And did you get your blue shams from England (sorry, I had to say that).

    Just to let you know that Unger makes that same swivel pad that you were putting steel wool on to pole scrub that paint off that slips on and off, no need to swrew on and off, less hassle.

    Normally when I work for builders I’m asked to clean the frames as there is normally grout and tape stuck to them. Do you come across this? I find it difficult and time consuming as they are easily damaged by scraper or Q O wool. What do you guys do?

  • @ihikefar
    @ihikefar Před 7 lety +1

    Have you ever ran across examples of fabrication debris on glass in residential CCU or new commercial accounts with tempered glass? I understand it's the biggest cause of scratched glass. How do you deal with that or scratch prevention in general? I know always razor wet and 0000 steel wool. But are there more things to consider? Cheers!

    Thanks!

  • @CoastalwindowcleanersAu

    Do you guys come across any Low-e windows? They are an inside coated glass which has a sticky feel to it especially when it's in contact with a squeegee blade. Therefore you wouldn't be able to use a scraper on it? Just wanna know how you go about CCU this type of window? Great video to guys. Well done, keep up the good videos. Love them all.👍

    It seems every glass I try to razor is bad. When I test it I get that scratching noise. So I gave up my razor thinking it was too much chance to damage windows. You seem to behaving a lot of success with one though. Any thoughts on why?

    My wife and I own a small cleaning company that offers window cleaning but my main gig is a 4th generation painting and let me tell you...if a painter had that kind of fuckery in my town they would be chased out faster than you can blink. Very unprofessional to leave paint everywhere like that!
