- I head to Marathon Florida to do some fishing with subscribers. It was a rough day and there is puke involved but nonetheless it turned into a great Marathon Fishing Catch Clean Cook. Catch and Cook time!

So this is actually my first time Fishing Marathon. So I had my fingers majorly crossed that this fishing with subscribers trip would turn into a Catch Clean Cook. Because after all my subscribers are here for the catch AND cook!
For those subscribers that don't know.. Marathon Florida is a Florida Key about an hour south of Key Largo. Marathon is actually more like 1.5 hours south of Key Largo right next to the 7 mile bridge.
So we start the day and head offshore out of Marathon Florida to do some Offshore fishing. First we stop at the Patch Reefs and do some patch reef fishing. Also to catch some live bait. Since this is my first time Fishing Marathon I don't have any spots so fingers crossed we find bait. I can't look bad fishing with subscribers or how will I ever get more subscribers! haha
Ok we do catch fish. We catch live bait and even a small grouper. Time to go offshore fishing. It's wavy and rough so we can't do any offshore trolling but we do offshore bottom drifting. We do find some fish. We lose the first fish! There goes the catch n cook! Oh man so close!
It's not long before we catch fish! We get a king mackerel in the boat and a yellowtail snapper. Yes! Looks like Fishing Marathon isn't a complete bust and there will be a Catch and cook. We head back to the dock and do the Catch Clean Cook part of the show.
We cook fish and have a great time with subscribers. Ok maybe I will get more subscribers after all! I hope you enjoyed this catch clean cook, I had a great time with great people Fishing Marathon Florida.

@@tg1445 and I was just in marathon, i only had access to a dinghy boat and it can be hard getting an idea of where to go and how to prospect spots. It took me close to 2 weeks to really get on the fish.

Those young men along with other subscribers will definitely do more fishing now that they finally put some in the boat. They will plan ahead and buy some rigs in order to improve their success all because Heiko took some time show them and work with them. Nice vid Heiko.

This is crazy, I was staying down the canal in Marathon and had the same dilemma and almost sent a request for help Heiko ! went to the edge & chummed like crazy and we had some mild success. will be back for my big 50 in a week maybe ill see you off Islamorada.
Hey Iko. Barry Beall here from Atlanta Ga was in Key Largo this past week fished on two reels charters. My buddy Joe Mize has a man crush on you!! This was the joke of the week!! Ate twice at the lazy lobster because joe said it was your favorite restaurant. Love your shows!! If you ever need a fishing buddy call joe he lives in Naples!! He made the comment I’m going to fish with that guy one day!! So if you can make it happen !! I would be forever grateful!!

I fished off a pier behind my hotel in Marathon a few years ago and must have pulled in two dozen yellowtail within an hour. Not monsters but not laughables either. They were all a bit smaller than the one you got here. (One was a monster that broke a light pole.)
I didn’t know the regulations then, nor was I prepared to store, clean and cook, so back they went.
I had a ball, and can’t believe you never fished Marathon ever.

For those like me that sea sick, I use Bonine. One pill before the trip about 10 hours and other pill 1 hour before you go on the boat . But you will be sleepy

Heiko, you mentioned that your rig is special because your weight pops off. Do you give a further explanation on that on any of your videos?
You just tie a loop in your line and put the weight on a snap swivel. You can easily attach/detach it that way
All they needed to do was have dad chum the water, AND THEN THEY CAUGHT FISH ! L O L I had a friend who owned a house on Marathon Key, and he took me out snorkeling at Sombrero Reef. That is where I learned what a Portuguese Man-O-War was ""THE HARD WAY"" !!!

Bro, keep some ginger capsules on your boat or something. Now I developed my sea legs when I was young and my dad would take me and my brother offshore for salmon, however even after a decade of absence from boats, ginger pills are the s***.
They don’t make you tired like Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine), but work way better ime and the only side-effect is you have ginger burps.
Take a couple, easy clap.

JustDillon05 if you ever see birds working don’t be scared to roll right up in 90% of the time there’s mahi around and always check weed patch’s
Colby Serio ya we caught a few mahi but they weren’t even legal size and every weed patch we trolled by nothing hit our rigs and we couldn’t find pilchards to cast net so we never had live bate to pitch at the weed patches
JustDillon05 always bring a block of squid and cut it up and chum around weed and free line some pieces in there with them and if you find a school keep them eating trolling gets boring
