Right-handed reliever Trevor May announced his retirement from professional baseball on his Twitch channel earlier today. His full comments can be found here. The 34-year-old spent the 2023 campaign with the Athletics, pitching to a 3.28 ERA with a 4.71 FIP in 49 games.
“I have a thousand things that I want to do, a million things… everything that I do outside of the game has just lit me up, and I really enjoy doing it,” May said during his announcement, “I love talking pitching, I love talking about the game, I love teaching people about the game… this is not the end of my relationship with the game of baseball, I just want to go out on my own terms.”

You had to endure a lot this year, and as a lifetime fan of the team and the game of baseball, I respect how you gave everything you had on the field and had such a great connection with the fans. It’s good to see and hear that someone that was within the organization (even though he’s out of it now) at least acknowledged the fans and their support and more importantly just how bad john fisher is. All this time employees (other than ice cold Kenny), front office people, players nobody talked about how bad he is at running an organization. If this is just the players perspective I can on,y imagine how someone deep in the bowels of the coliseum and A’s organization feels. Trevor may. Thank you for all the heart and hustle you put into the game, and every pitch, and don’t worry. We weren’t nervous.
A lot of teams spend hundreds of millions and get the same results. Why would the A’s owner spend the money? It’s just entertainment dude, money is all that matters. Trying to come up with imaginary honor is the dumbest thing people can do. Grow up buddy. This is not little league. Money matters.

That’s his one job as part of being an owner. Look at any business and they have to spend money. Also, the A’s literally lost the most amount of games this year and they cut down on spending so that point that you tried to make isn’t valid. Yes, it is entertainment. There’s no denying that and nobody can argue that. However, once the entertainment has gone down PURPOSELY shouldn’t the fans stand up for what they believe in? Especially when said fans are spending their money (which as someone smarter than me said is what matters) to watch said entertainment? No, it’s not little league. I doubt anyone would say otherwise. As a lifelong 50+ years Bay Area resident and Oakland A’s (not SF Giants) fan long before that fool bought our historic team, it pained me to ween myself off of watching the team this season after the move was announced prior to Opening Day. You only wore the uniform for a year but the passion in your statement made it clear that you enjoyed playing for the Oakland A’s and our fans as many of the wonderful players that have represented the green and gold for even a short time have loved donning the uniform. It will not be the same in Vegas. Enjoy your retirement. You’ve earned it.
Loved watching it so much. You know most of the players feel exactly the same way. Don't own a fucking sports team if you have no interest in winning, or the sport itself even! Like, what are you even doing? These billionaires are so distant from reality, they just buy and do shit because they can. But he retired when I was six (and he was having his lunch handed to him then), so I didn't see all the fist-pumps, points, and gotta-have-its he'd be known for.

Most extremely rich people don't care about people who depend on every single paycheck to feed their families, repair cars, and put clothes on the backs of children.
Fans love the team and will be very sad to see the team they love, leave Oakland. They look forward to buying tickets and taking in all the joy the game brings to them, that includes seeing their favorite players in person at the park.
Players mean more than just winning games. They raise money for charities and get involved with young people who want to learn to play the game. Fans admire that.

MLB probably doesn't want this, but baseball would benefit greatly from more players actually expressing their personalities and thoughts about the game. If I were John Fisher, I will be leaving the Athletics name, logo, colors, histories and records as well as uniforms in Oakland and have his team in Las Vegas take on a new name, similar to Art Modell taking his team to Baltimore, where they became the Ravens while leaving the Browns stuff (history, records, colors, logos, jerseys, etc.) in Cleveland. I’m surprised that Brodie endorsed this disjointed, obscenity filled rant. Funny that Trevor calls out Fisher, a guy who payed him 7 mill for pitching all of 41 innings. That’s approximately $170,00 per inning. Who’s the greedy one here? What I remember most about May was when he was called on to protect a 7-2 lead against the Nats in August. He gave it up. The worst ninth inning blown lead in Oakland history.

A's fans support their team. The only reason they didn't this year is because Failson Fisher and his Fuckhead Flunky put a double A level team on the field and raised prices on both tickets and concessions dramatically, while telling fans not to come.
Literally the only thing they could have done to keep more people away is leave the gates locked during games.
If you review the year over year attendance numbers from Baseball Reference, you'll find that the fact is that Oakland has a higher avg attendance than at least a half dozen other teams for most of the last two decades (and barring years like this one where the douchebag duo Kaval & Fisher are actually trying to drive fans away, Oakland attendance has remained constant dating back to the world championship years in the 1970s). But you didn't review any facts or historic information, you just posted lies and bullshit to try and make Oakland fans look bad.

It is nothing like a done deal. For one thing, MLB hasn't approved it yet and Failson Fisher can't move the team without that. For another, the 'current plan' in Vegas won't fit on the only parcel available (and the funding from Vegas is tied to that particular parcel). Thing three, even if the first two obstacles can be overcome, Fisher doesn't actually have the money to cover his share of the costs to build the stadium in Vegas (his share is more than $1Bn and, no, he doesn't have that available. And currently, he doesn't even have a lender(s) willing to provide it either).
