I would also like to address some comments I've received on this video so that you may get an answer and also not ask it again, because it saves me time, although I do like reading all the comments, reading the same thing over and over again is inefficient.
1.) EA vs. Popcap: Some have told me to stop blaming EA for everything because it's Popcap who makes the games at their core, and while this is correct, some other information I've received has led me to think another way. Some commenters have stated that it was EA who began firing Popcap workers who worked on the original games, replacing them with new EA employees, resulting in the games we see today. I have not done enough research into the matter (clearly) and I don't want it to seem like I have, maybe I should have done a bit more research before making the video, but I also only expected it to get 30 views, so I didn't expect to have every PvZ expert come out of the woodwork and watch it. I thank all the comments for letting me know this information, but I still haven't done the research myself, so until I do, Fuck EA, that stupid company, they are dumb.
2.) Play PvZ Eclise or just mod the game: First thing, saying a game is only good when modded, usually means it's not a great game. I'm happy that some of you can enjoy it on it's modded version, but I tend to play the base versions of the games, and have my opinions based on those. As far as Eclise goes, I have been made aware of it's existence, I have also looked into downloading it (doesn't look too hard) so you may see a future stream or video on it in the future, but as of right now, nothing is planned.
3.) BFN: I've had many comments saying they enjoyed battle for Neighborville or telling me it's better on the switch. I'm glad you could get some enjoyment out of the game, I really am, but for me it just wasn't what I wanted, or expected. I wish I could have bought it day one and been super happy with the product, but I just wasn't. This doesn't mean you won't enjoy the game, you could buy it and have hours of fun, it's just my opinion and experience at the end of the day.
4.) PvZ Heroes: Like I said in the video, I played this game very briefly and had only mere assumptions to make about it. The players who enjoy the game were very nice to me in the comments about it, many saying the game was very enjoyable and that the online was actually pretty fair and balanced even with all the micro transactions. So take their word as you will, it's probably better than mine, seeing as though I only played the game for about a week.
5.) Gameplay: As it says in the description, none of the gameplay is mine, I didn't record any of it, it was all taken from various different CZcams channels, I take no credit for any of it, so if you recognize any of the names, that's why.
6.) Difficulty: Some people have been commenting that they beat PvZ 2 easily, and to those people I say, good job I guess what do you want from me, a cookie?
7.)Ending Song: Many have commented that I left out the best song of PvZ 1, the ending song. Let me tell you, it was left out on purpose. I have bigger plans for that song. Let's just say I made a sub goal a while back, and I plan on going through with it, at some point ;)
8.) Subscribe: And finally, some have mentioned that during the subscribe bit at the end I say "Subscribe if you like women" this was meant in the literal sense, if you don't subscribe, you're sexist. It was a trap the whole time, and now 80% of you are sexist pigs. Don't be a sexist pig, subscribe.

A popcap employee actually said most of the executive decisions are made by popcap and not EA so even though microtansactions are EA’s “thing” popcap probaly decided it

But it is another thing if someone used real life money for adventure only, that was an unnecessary step, though it does help. And plus, I am no champion. I don't get why anyone is still struggling in adventure even with the advent of the levelling system. One more thing: upgrading individual characters with in-game currency to progress is unnecessary though it helps.

For example, the thumbnail of Popcap Games includes the Popcap Games logo in the lower left, and a zombie moving to the right.

Imo it is not a tf2 ripoff, especially the second game bcause gw2 has so so much to offer including campaign, side quests, variants, complete backyard to explore, minigames/eastereggs in backyard, infinity mode, etc etc. However, idk about Neighborville. I have not played that one but all i hear is negativity about it. Apparently they got rid of all variants and lots of cosmetics so i can see how that could be a tf2 ripoff maybe

I'm glad that I finished _Plants vs. Zombies_ when I was a kid. I'll never forget that moment when the Sunflower singing while the zombies and plants are dancing on the lawn which it's one of the greatest video game endings of all time.

They removed it from the shitty mobile version. They put a long credit list which didn't even include the orginal creator, apparently from what I heard they fired George Fan from game development for refusing to add P2W mechanics. Really sad indeed. If you wanna play PvZ again, go for an older PC version or the DS version on an emulator.

I always loved the snowpea when I played the chinese version, but ever since it got banned and EA took over Pvz2 words cannot described just how frustrated and angry I felt, the sin of Wrath narrows in comparison to my frustration, I honestly just wished every plant that everyone knows and love would one day be able to be unlocked without spending your whole sallery [which is honestly impossible to happen]

Man I LOVED that title card. The zombies just rising from the ground, and the plants scrambling together to protect an idiot, Crazy Dave. I loved this game so much, remember playing it for the first time as a kid. It was full a creativity and wasn't violent or anything, and was a laid back experience that was fun to play. Never going to forget this game. And then GW came out. I was so hyped for this, it seemed so sick, but I couldn't ever play it once because it costed money. Now EA, a bunch of fat bastards took over the all the games that I loved. It'll probably never be the same, and sorry to whoever wasted their time reading my ramblings, but yeah.
I remember watching my dad play plants vs zombies when i was little, the first one by the way. It looked really fun back then and it totally was, especially when you could make your own zombie character in the pc version

PVZ2 was kinda easy at the start, then since the introduction of the ice age timeline it started to become more and more difficult.
Then apparently due to the big size of the app they removed the back ground music. Fortunately I stopped playing before that.
PVZGW looks like one of those good games from the PSX/N64 era that had a good studio release a game for the next or the next after the next generation.
PVZ3 looks like one those good games from the psx/n64 era again but this time the owners decided to have a mediocre or inferior studio to make the next installment for the series.
They just removed the ultimate battle and demonstration mini-game music, The main themes are still in their place. Still sad tho :(

@@greypea549 Wolfy beat the game without spending cash. Speaking of this video, once upon a time, squash and jalapeno costed real money. Now, they re for gems. Squash since 2017 and Jalapeno since version 5.9.1, which I think is pre-2020. This video didn't mention arena, nor the levelling system.

Contrary to popular belief, EA, while they did influence the downfall of pvz, popcap actually made MOST of the decisions, INCLUDING the microtransactions. So....

And considering the comment section, I think the damage is irreversible. I don't think he even knows about the levelling system.
The sound track in the title screen is just so damn iconic and nostalgic.
If you're wondering why PvZ 3 has 3D graphics, it's because it's much cheaper to animate. 2D skeletal animation is very intricate, and if you have many characters with different bodies, it really is a hassle to keep developing for it.

@Eosophos Developers are not lazy. Nobody is lazy in the game industry. People are super exploited all the time.
There's nothing wrong with saving costs. It allows them to use the money somewhere else, to make a lot more plants, to risk a project that maybe wasn't that likely to be profitable. It is utter madness to do it the hard way just because and people should at least try to understand that. No art or passion can exist it it's not justified with money.
Laura Shigihara is a blessing to this world. She's such a talented musician, programmer, and singer. And EA treated her, and all the other original developers of PVZ, like dirt, and fired them for disagreeing with EA's new approach to the games. If that isn't a reason to hate EA I don't know what is.
Laura Shigihara is one of the best musicians in gaming. She streams on twitch and does PvZ songs pretty often. I’m glad such a good game also had such an amazing soundtrack.
Its amazing how many catchy melodious soundtracks she made all of which suited the game perfectly.
Not to mention if you look up her channel, you can find one of her unused tracks for the Pirate Seas level. While the in game version already does sound nice, I would have given anything to have had her original piece kept in the game 😢

the reason why i still remember pvz was not only because i played the game, but also in my country there are some pvz science comics that are my favourite books. i learned a lot of interesting science facts

Damn I remember back in 2009 me, my sister and my dad would get on the main PC of our house and play plants vs zombies. And we each got a turn to play each level and watch each other play. The original game was my childhood.

And then when the sequel was announced. I was so excited. Then, saw the microtransactions and I'm like "Wtf. No thank you."

EA is actually freaking smart. They made a really good impression to the players at first, then they began to add pay to win method, release small updates time by time and using forced ads to make the game easier to players.

When I started playing Pvz2 after so many years, i immediately dropped it when i found out that like half the plants were locked behind paywalls.

The main reason why battle for neighborville didnt quite hit the mark is because they changed the perfect graphics of garden warfares for some reason and made them more kid friendly and additionally they stopped making updates for a game that isnt replay able like the other two, you don't have nearly as much characters because even tho its 20 peashooter types its a different unit with unique sounds and playstyles, i also hate that they didnt add those characters that were leaked like the iceberg lettuce
I didn't mind the graphics one bit, looked great imo, i don't really understand how you can let graphics 'ruin' a game for you anyways, loved the vibrant artstyle, the variants missing, lackluster garden ops and that goddamn season pass-like thing to unlock new cosmetics eventually ruined it for me in the long run, but i did really like it and love the coop campaign, wish there was more of it

Wow when the music kicked in from the title screen i lost words, sometimes peopla can’t express them self in words but i can atleast say i am very happy to have been playing the first Plants vs Zombies as a child. I got reminded of the games i played as a child, like Strike force heroes, raze, lego star wars the complete saga, lego batman the videogame and so much more. I really miss those child times but ive learned that even tho you grow up, you will still be a child sometimes and appreciate the same things. Even tho most of the games are 100 times easier now then back then hahaha!

As an OG, I remember the old maps in PVZ2.
It was more strategic because you had to choose which plant you wanted because of the keys.
I loved dark ages when it was new😭 and I loved the 3 variations of songs per world but noooo they removed it

Its definitely not as good as Garden Warfare 1 and 2, but its enough to just hop in and play 2-3 rounds if you are bored

When you played the music from the first plant vs zombies game, i was never hit with a bigger wave of nostalgia ever.
as a kid I played the free demo on ps3 a shit ton and never played the full game until way over a decade later
The only problem I had for pvz2 back then was that the game would not die even after it had it's ending
