The Cold Storage Fire that Tommy talks about in this scene is the Worcester Cold Storage Fire that happened in 1999 in Worcester MA. 6 men from the Worcester FD died that night...one of them was Denis Leary's cousin...Jerry Lucey.
its interesting how a lot of what goes on in the show actually happened to the actual actors. Tommy's Dad: that actor was a soldier in the US Army with the 3rd Army. The Actor who portrays Jerry: he was a fire fighter with the FDNY in the late 70s.
You’d be surprised where some actors and actresses come from sometimes. Gal Gadot was in a branch of the Israeli services, Adam Driver was a Marine, Morgan Freeman was in the Air Force, etc
Dennis Franz from NYPD Blue, "He served eleven months with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam." Al Matthews as Sgt. Apone in Aliens, was a Vietnam Vet too.
they don't make ensemble dramas like this anymore. Closest might be "The Bear" right now. Denis Leary is v. full of himself and this show was flawed/a little goofy...but man, I loved this cast. John Scurti really did deserve a supporting actor Emmy too.
yeah sadly Learys ego not only brought quality to the show but was also its downfall . He was the one kicking "Jerry" of the show for envy and made more and more about his character and just overloaded him with drama to the point it just got dumb and stupid.
Leary was robbed of an emmy for at least one year of this series...one of the best shows ever
Too many jokes about Hollywood elites. He definitely got railroaded.

Many of the sons are now on the job in Worcester. Including Jerry Lucey 3rd
Your goddam right
the only time this series paid the appropriate respect to Jerry
Leary is at his best when he's pissed.
Fun fact for those who don’t know. The actor that plays jerry real name is Jack Mcgee. And he was a real fireman on in the Bronx in the 60’s and 70’s
He was also the engineer in the movie backdraft.
@@blackhawks81H yes he was
Fighting 17s
And a contractor in Lethal Weapon 2.
@@brandonseyfried1251 and the drunk Santa in Miracle on 34th Street
Leary nailed it in this scene. Even in ways far beyond the series…
Essentially calls Jerry a coward when he agrees with Franco, goes on to defend Jerry, fiercely.....
Tommy knew him way better then Garrity
For me one of the best shows ever.. especially first couple of seasons.. greetings from Croatia

Charles Durning was Tommy's dad. And not only was he with the 3rd Army, under Patton, no less, but he was also in D-Day.

Jack McGee was a firefighter?
@@woodyburns i know huh. Scott Glenn from the movie Backdraft was a Marine. Mark Harmon from NCIS was a football player at UCLA.
Dennis Franz from NYPD Blue, "He served eleven months with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam." Al Matthews as Sgt. Apone in Aliens, was a Vietnam Vet too.
im not all the way through the series yet, but this is the most powerful scene i've ever watched on any movie or tv show.
Brilliant scene. I love Leary he's so intense
When I was growing up with my dad in firehouses, they weren’t called jobs, they’re called calls. A job is a burden, they’re called to help.
In quite a few larger Northeast cities, the term “job” was/is used for working fires, e.g. “jobtown”
Only comment? wow...best show ever... one of the best scenes.
This show deserves so much
Leary is right he was afraid of that fucking desk. Excuse? No sir let me tell you why, view above.
Was looking for this week's ago and couldn't find it. Find out it's been in CZcams for a decade
hahaha i ended up buying the episode bc i couldnt find the clip
I hope people who dropped the show when it dragged in the middle came back for the last season. It was excellent
yep. That's the clip I was looking for.

0:43 That Is the same guy i saw on the TV mini-series The people va O.J. Simpson as LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman.
Was that cold storage fire a reference to the Worcester fire? I mean, being from Worcester I’m sure he’s aware of that tragedy.
I should say so...one of the firefighters who died that day was Leary's cousin.
@@pcgentile really?
His brother was killed in the fire. I'd say he was very aware of it.
Franco likes to say "coward" for everything doesn't he? lol
Franco likes calling other people cowards but doesn't realize he's pretty cowardly himself.
@@JSRbowling595 yea black sean beat his ass
Well said
Got like number 343 on the video, same number of firefighters that gave their lives on 9/11

Great Writing
❤ Gimme Chocolate... Dudes!!
Suicide is only a sin in specific circumstances.
If I get a little older?
This scene was a little intence for me. That was sad that Jerry put the pistol in his mouth like that!
Intense*
@@woodyburns Indeed.
what does leary say at 2:44?
"Maybe, working up in the Bronx, he used up all the goddamn brave he had."
Always hated franco
Why?
Yea the last 2 seasons of the series he thought he was hot shit. I was glad that Sean beat him up that one time
