Season 1 Episode 1 - Whether giving incoming rookies a brutally frank description of the horrors he's seen and heroes he's known during his many years in the department, or working alongside hardened veterans like Lt. Kenny "Lou" Shea, Tommy Gavin is, first and foremost, a New York City firefighter. Under the command of Chief Ron Perrolli, a gruff, by-the-book department veteran, and his hard-gambling polar opposite, Jerry Reilly, Tommy and fellow firefighters Franco Rivera and Sean Garrity rely on their experience to train rookies like Mike Lombardo, a probationary firefighter, or "probie" -- whose very life rests on how fast he can learn from their experience. Like all of his colleagues, Tommy is called upon daily to risk his life, while trying to cope with the haunting memories of his late cousin, Jimmy Keefe, one of the many firemen who died during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

New York firefighter Tommy Gavin is a hot mess. He talks to his cousin, Jimmy, who died at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, and he's seeing ghosts of other victims, too. Spotlighting Denis Leary as Gavin, a temperamental alcoholic whose self-destructive behavior has cost him his family, the series revolves around the daily drama associated with being a firefighter in post-9/11 New York, and how the men of 62 Truck use dark humor to color their true feelings.

Greatest show on tv
I mean firefighters have a very high suicide rate due to the stress and trauma of the job. After 9/11 it went right up
Just came off shift where I had to lie to a mother that her daughter would be ok. Fuck there are days where I wish I could watch TV all day.
Shut up you whiner
Great damn show
Worse call I ever ran was a self inflicted gunshot wound. Telling the guys wife, there isn't a jet fast enough to see her husband alive was the worse thing I ever had to. I said that as I heard the monitor flat line and Dr called for time of death.
My father and mother were smokeeaters...they met on the job had me and my brother she was older he was younger...we both became Infantry Marines....im always scared everyday waiting to hear the news that someone from my family finally ended their journey...i watched my patents divorce and the fighting and i went through my own demons when i came back...the things you see and the lack of appreciation from people who sit on the sidelines...😢
