Not military but I’m from Iraq and I can say without a doubt there was more death in Iraq but in Afghanistan since it’s mostly rugged terrain and mountainous, the fighting was a lot more difficult there.

@@michaelj6392 I agree, not millions though. I think the high end estimate for the war in Iraq was half a million dead in total for civilians and combatants but even that number was scrutinized for have little to no data backing it. The most common estimation is 250k-300k

I think he is right with Iraq, and it might still be premature to assume this. Hands down I've seen more people come back home from Afghanistan with PTSD, but I have yet to see the weird stuff with health problems and procreation as I've seen from the men and women that came home from Iraq. Whatever chemicals they were exposed to messed a lot of them up good.

I know they are talking about combat, but as a civilian the war in Iraq always pissed me off more, because I PERSONALLY felt that if the politicians had let the military run ground combat operations for another 24-48 hours in 91, then sadam would have had no one left to defend him, and therefore would have fallen to the uprising that came after the war, and the international national community would also already be mobilized and actually in on the plan to help Iraq. No doubt just wishful thinking on my part…….

I was in Sadr City 04-05 i never got in a fight that lasted less than 4 hours, summer of 04 was an Infantryman's paradise.
I was there in the spring of 08 those guys were dedicated hours long fire fights or we would drive down rte gold and stir the pot

Our Brad's went through 3 basic loads of HE. I remember changing mags and glancing at my watch it was 15:29 and thinking fuck it's gonna be a long night.
@Mike Brase I've patrolled jamilia market we were at jss sadr not sure if that was there in 04 it was close to the traffic circle I was there when they decided to build a wall thru sadr it was chaos but I didn't make it the whole time our squad got hit by an efp while dismounted on Florida's and delta
@@vicentee2687 my big fight was at the traffic circle the intersection of Grizzlies. Had an RPG come skipping down the street like a rock skipping on a lake. It went in between me and one of my Grenadiers. It was one of those moments in combat where time slows down and you look somebody dead in the eye and they give you the WTF Sergeant look. We had a Platoon get QRF'd up there and they went Black on ammo that kicked the whole thing off. My FOB was across the street from Martyrs Monument just over from the MOI.
I did both and Iraq 06 was bad. IED’s were just unstoppable.
Especially with no armor on the trucks for a few years before the military smartened up and put armor on trucks.
Went to Iraq twice, but didn't see what you guys did. I'm glad you're alive brother, that shit wasn't easy, and my family said I was never the same again.

I served in Afghanistan and my buddy in Iraq. The combat seems to have been quite different.

Hmm equal imo. Irag was more of a massacre in some sorts of ways. But Afghanistan was definitely tougher for us id say. There were many reports of us getting pinned down and surrounded in the trees and mountains so idk which was worse.... I like his explanation tho ❤😊

Iraq geography is pretty much flat beside the mountains in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. So Iraqis have to fight that way or we would be easy picking for the superior us airforce.

The Afghans have mountains so they have the "luxury" of fighting for days because they can hide in the mountains.
