Yeah I have done actually, you just jogged me memory. I got attacked by hornets in Cambodia for smoking around the temples but a local walked past the hive but nothing happened to her. There is a culture over their called Animism it is part of pagan cultural beliefs, which I think Europe used to have before Christianity
