Little antler deer get mocked
So it makes sense why female goes for big antlers, not necessarily as a show of strength but it proves that male has been in this longer with more experience
What about the age why the young ones have little ones but the elderly ones grow bigger?

You know I have a very strange reaction to seeing picture of the bloody antlers and the shedding velvet. I don't know if it's because of something very primeval in my brain. I find myself salivating slightly. I get the same thing when I look at whole fish in the butcher's case at the store, seeing the glossy silver of the fish makes me want to bite it. It's gotta be from a cellular memory, because I have no one in the family who hunts or fishes, nor Ihad any interest in it. I don't feel that way about chickens. I definitely feel grossed out by swine. It's just kinda strange.
