  • This is a quick review of the 2021 Yamaha 255XD and how you set it up for wake surfing. There’s been a lot of questions online about how to best set this boat up and this video gives you a quick down and dirty version of what to do. We also address some questions that have come in regarding quality of the boat. We love talking about this boat so feel free to ask questions and will get to them as soon as we can. Also don’t forget to give us a thumbs up and a like.

    Great video dude! I was talking to my dealer about a similar issue you are having as others have experienced the same. Yamaha stated that if you run your boat and sit still for a period of time, when you get going again, allow 30 secs for the boats computer to reset, and you'll be able to run more than 15MPH. I hope this helps.

    Great review I have one on order I have a couple questions do they require premium fuel and also as far as fuel mileage goes are they hard on fuel.
    If you are pulling into behind them do they throw a lot of water in the tubers face and also are the engines much louder than a inboard

    Thanks for sharing. I have a 2019 242XE and trying to stretch out the pocket and size of the wave. Seems like ballast is the way to go, fat sac. These are great all around boats but guess if one is looking for monster clean waves and primarily use the boat for surfing it may be best to go another way. I would be pissed about those holes drilled and being exposed.

    Check out jet boat adventure. I have a 21 252 se. water gets in thru your anchor locker drain. Same issue on mine. I fixed mine with a auto trim pin as a plug. The drain port allows water into the hull. I noticed mine when people were in the bow and rough water.

    The only times ive seen issues with Yamaha boats over the many years was within COVID timeframe. YES they were obviously rushed from 2021-2022, those are the ones that have the aesthetic issues. Any other year seemed to be spot on.

Question- we currently own a 2016 ar240 and live on a lake with a low bridge. The 240 tower fold down far enough where we can fit under with about a foot to clear. Can you show how far the tower folds down on the 255?

    I just got my 255ex and have the same problem with the max rpm of 5500. I put it in reverse, then forward again and it fixes the problem. Did you find a solution for the problem? My dealer said they haven't had any reports on the problem or how to fix it. The same thing happens with the surf gate out. I am capped about 5200 RPM and I cna barely make it to 10 MPH or fully form the wave. The dealer said the max speed is 15 MPH, but not 5200 and they don't know what to do.

    We are selling our ATX 24Type wake surf for one reason only. Our water level is so shallow at the shore line where our lift is located. The Yamaha 255XD seems to be the best alternative to a surf boat with the least draft on the market. Not cool that the quality was sop poor, hopefully the 2022 will have some of those issues resolved. Your video has helped us see that we can get a wave with some work, but it wont be the same. Question, how does the 255XD turn, do they have more control now with docking? and launch on busy boat days was a huge pain. Have you added the new rear lateral thrusters from JBP to your boat?
    Thanks!!

    • @fredschubert2818
      @fredschubert2818 Před 2 lety

      Awesome, a foot? Draft shows 18" on the specs so I had no idea. Our lake is so shallow, we will need the lift in 20" of water it's that crazy. then you hit a drop off way out. We had our ATX in the middle of the lake, we have to take a boat to get to my boat and it kills the experience. So we can really get the Yamaha in a foot of water?

    Thanks for the video and the honest feed back. One thing i will say is to always use the fatsac on the back. Don't have someone sitting there when the boat is underway. One, because of the potential for carbon monoxide poisoning. Two, It is illegal in most states.

      @@itsmikecaudill great response, thank you. Curious - if I have young kids and they ski/tube, is this a great boat for that as well? They are still fairly young and I don't see them surfing for a few years still, and I have to admit I prefer the jet vs the prop with 4 young kids and lots going on, one less deadly limb slicer to worry about!

    What a pain in the but having to move people around the boat to get a wave. Just buy a centurion problem solved you can achieve a pro surf wave with just 3 people. 5000lbs of ballast then dial your surf tabs and center trim and bam done.

    • @Hammerlsv
