hi! i found your channel when I started to grow a succulent on my own these days ago!

the succulent I've been taking care of lately is apparently a graptosedum california sunset and it's still young and tiny. I'm looking forward to watch it grow strong and happy! i really hope it handles fall and winter (i live in brazil so it's summer here and soon it will be fall!) well and that letting it grow from inside home, taking the sunlight from the window is enough. i have some doubts about how much should I water it, but watching your videos has been helpful! thank you for the content and have a nice day/night!!

I have a couple questions---- I apparently gave my beautiful string of dolphins too much light and they shriveled up.
I cut off the stems that are healthy and not shriveled up and I put them in a gritty mix. You said if they're not calloused over, put them in the pot and don't water for a while.
1. How long to wait to water?
2. I live in Iowa and have North facing windows. Or can use grow lights. What light is best?
3. How often do I water these in general??
I am struggling with this plant after bringing it inside for the winter. 😩

1. It will likely only take about three days for the cut ends to callus in dry soil.
2. A north-facing window will not be sunny enough so you'll want to supplement with a grow light. This blog explains what specs to look for and gives a couple product recommendations: mountaincrestgardens.com/blog/succulent-grow-light-recommendations/
3. In general, you will find that "String of..." plants need more frequent drenchings than other succulents. How often you water depends on lots of variables including sun, airflow, size of pot, soil type, time of year, and much more. So instead of keeping to a strict schedule, it's best to only water in response to signs of thirst. That means deeply saturating the soil but only when it's completely dry AND the plant's leaves are starting to feel less turgid or wrinkle a bit. Indoor succulents in winter can take a while to dry and be prone to rot, so if in doubt, don't water yet.
You've got this and I'm sure your plant will make it through to spend another summer outdoors!

My string of dolphins always gets aphids even though the other string of plants around it are perfect. I’ve tried everything to get rid of them but to no avail, aphids seem to especially love this plant 😢
Do the plants really come that big in the box? I am new so haven’t ordered from you yet. Once I get something like this in a 2” pot from you, how fast do you recommend repotting it?

All of our plants come ready to transplant, but if you need to, they'll be fine in their grow pots for several weeks as long as they get plenty of sunshine and a deep drenching when the soil is dry and the leaves start to pucker.

Help! I went through very hot space of weather & no air conditioning. Did try fans but it didn’t even much. Don’t know if it will live. Plant has very thin stalk. . . Any advice? Thanks!

Since it’s an F1 hybrid, what would you get if you planted the seeds from the floof?
Lots of different things! They don't come true from seed, but we'd love to see what all germinates if you give it a try.
Can I just use bonsai jack for the dolphin plant?
You could if you're someone who likes to water very frequently. But for most people, this is a thirsty enough succulent that you'll want a standard cactus & succulent soil with more organic matter than Bonsai Jack. I do still love to use Bonsai Jack as a top dressing though!
I inherited a string of Dolphins that is not doing well😢. Still some green stems but lots of brown. I noticed this pot is not draining well so I plan to prune, repot and change the area its in. Any other suggestions would be Truly Appreciated❤
Hard to say without seeing it and knowing your conditions, but that sounds like the right plan! Lots of bright, indirect light can also help plants recover from damage and after pruning. Good luck!
I have a string of dolphins that is about 4ft long, but the top foot of the string no longer has dolphins. Will they ever grow back, or will they always be bare?
Not on its own, but they do re-root well from stem cuttings! You'd want to cut lengths of stems with leaves. Spiral the cut stem ends around a fresh pot to fully cover the top of the soil, leaving the growing ends of the stems trailing out of the pot. They'll need a bit more frequent water while rooting. If you can get a little more sun exposure to the top of the pot, that will help them maintain leaf coverage going forward.

Yeah, so much depends on your environmental conditions. The other super fast, resilient, prolific Senecio is S. radicans aka String of Bananas.
Could I plant String of Pearls, Bananas, Tears, and Dolphins together?

Do you water the cuttings you planted in the soil right away?
Good question! The cut part of the stem needs to dry and callus before watering. So you could either cut them, let them dry for 3-5 days, then plant and water them. Or sometimes I'll make the cutting, plant it right away, but hold off on watering it for about a week.

I have a big problem with my dolphin plant… there were dry branches on the top and some little flowers.. it’s a long one, but now there’s like a white sticky mold on the base branches… can anyone help my with some tips please? Thank you 😊 🍀🍀
Can't say for sure without seeing your plant and knowing the environmental conditions, but it sounds as if you have a combination of a pest and watering issue. I would re-plant in fresh cactus & succulent soil, thoroughly spray with 70% isopropyl alcohol every day until the sticky mold is gone, and water deeply enough for water to run out the pot's drainage hole whenever the soil is dry and the leaves start to feel more limp. Oh no! We can't diagnose it without seeing it and knowing its growing conditions, but do know that if there are still healthy roots, it can grow back its leaves!
