I'm a WTF practitioner. But WTF demonstrations looks really flashy but uses techniques not found in sparring, while ITF techniques look mundane but are definitely used in some way or form in sparring and in general combat. Both have gymnastic and flashy moves but ITF just looks so much more practical.
Both styles of Taekwondo are awesome and practical. I honestly disagree with people who argue against how practical martial art styles like Taekwondo, Tang Too Do, and Japanese Karate are. Each martial art style has it's strengths and weaknesses. Honestly I think that it comes down to the practitioner. Someone who has throughly mastered Taekwondo regardless if it's ITF or WTF or another organization, will be able to hold their own on the street or in a real life fight regardless of their surroundings. I am a flight attendant and want to learn Taekwondo. Someone could argue that Jujitsu or Judo is more practicle but as a former Tang Soo Do practitioner, a Karate style like Taekwondo is my preference and suites me well.
You mean * WTF What The F*ck Taekwondo? Because it is... ITF is a REAL self defense martial art and also its sparring is wayyyy better. (no chest protector, ect...)
I was a WT style Taekwondo practitioner around 2009-2013 and I didn't know there were different styles of Taekwondo until several years later. I just found out recently that ITF style was a thing because ITF style dojangs didn't exist in my region. A few years after I stopped training Taekwondo, I started practicing various forms of Kung Fu and Karate because I wanted to learn other martial arts. Back then, our Taekwondo training was a lot more serious. We jog for 10 laps in an area as big as a basketball court, 200 squats, and about 100 push-ups in each session. This "dance" Poomsae is very unfamiliar to me because we didn't have that in my time. The modern WT doesn't seem so bad; it's flashy and spectator-friendly, but I believe their training regimen is becoming more lenient because the martial art is being treated as a sport and a form of entertainment, having less emphasis on self-defense and improving one's fighting instincts and more focused on exhibitions.
Oh yes that would be so great! It would be so good for the sport if there is just one Taekwondo association or at least a good deal in competition. Than the Sport of Taekwondo could be much more famous and the family of Taekwondo could be mich bigger all over the world!
No, ITF is the only and original taekwondo. WT will never be taewkwondo. it is only an olympic sport which has nothing to do with the original taekwondo, the itf
While ITF and Kukkiwon style Taekwondo will never going to merge, I hope there will be a unified framework for competition, scoring, joint black belt recognition et cetera
ITF was founded from only one of several kwans, and while Oh Do Kwan was indeed one of the traditional forms of taekwondo of Korea, so were all the other kwans at the time. And while the current ITFs (there are three different orgs claiming to be the true ITF at the moment) are based on Oh Do Kwan taekwondo, the WT/Kukkiwon is based on the taekwondo of all the other kwans. And considering that both the sparring rulesets and technical curriculum of both styles has gone trough multiple evolutions over the years, it would be more correct to say that both ITF and WT is modern styles based on the traditional taekwondo styles of korea. :)
ITF has the original; and traditional ways of Tae Kwondo. WT has practical and progresive style although WT also has Traditional martial Arts method but not as many as ITF form, but both of them were Korean Martial Arts and originally ITF as a father and both ITF and WT has influence by Japanese Shotokan Karate, Okinawan Karate, Chinese martial Arts/ Northern Style kungfu, So Bhak, and Taekkyeon.. this ONE TAEKWONDO has goals to unite ITF WTF and other Korean Martial Arts to achieves to be recognized from the World by UNESCO as National treasures and heritage of Korean culture
Only Taekkyon is in UNESCO. Also Subak has no infleunce on modern taekwondo as it was just proproganda also taekkyon denies TKD has any real links to taekkyon other then nationalist proproganda after ww2 with japan. Real Subak today is Subyokchigi which is rare in Korea,Taekkyon(which is making a comeback too) (fake Subak is Soo Bakh Do/Tang Soo Do) and TKD is fake taekkyon.
I have a WTF background. Can someone please explain the up and down motions in the ITF forms? Please understand, I am not criticizing. I am simple trying to understand another style of TKD.
It is based on General Choi's "Sine Wave"-theory of power, which was introduced into Chan Hon/ITF-style Taekwondo in the early eighties. It is essentially based on a flawed understanding of physics, and is not used by anyone, including ITF practitioners themselves, in actual sparring.
@@c.b.1378 Thank you. If it is not used in sparring, may I ask what is the purpose of using it in forms. I understand the difference between forms and sparring and sparring itself never looks exactly like forms. Again, I am just trying to understand something different.
Itf is real martial arts ❤️ why IOC couldn’t able to add itf in Olympic. Around the world millions of Itf players Dream to playe olympian game is incompleted 😢. IOC must have to answer all the itf players why itf is not in Olympic 😢
NormalBoy2006 game no it's not. Read up the history of taekwondo. It's created by general Choi who got exiled from South Korea and went on to Canada to form his own association itf.

Itf is the best and eficient, wt is just visual coreography and not is effective
Conor McGregor (former UFC champion), Valentina Shevchenko (UFC Champion), Josh Taylor (unified WBC-WBA-WBO-IBF boxing champion) are all ITF practitioners
ITF is closer to Shotokan -- as a practitioner of both I can confirm the similarities.
You wanna know how Bruce Lee learned his kicking technique ? Yes, it is from an ITF Taekwon-do grandmaster, Jhoon Rhee.
agree.
yes bro

Wtf looks like a dance and a spectacle while itf looks like a martial art
They don't only look like them. They *are* them.
I practiced WTF (former name of WT) in 1992-2005, and joined ITF in 2005 till now.
Which one would u rank higher sir?
Anyone saying wt or ITF is better, someone who is truly passionate about Taekwondo would study to master both types. Thus truly mastering Taekwondo
General Choi Hong Hi who created Taekwondo later live the rest of his life in North Korea, so ITF is definitely real Taekwondo
ITF Style is another level

1:35 That lady is on FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
i would say on crack
I wish one day i'll see only one taekwondo
Yes!!!! Unified Korea Taekwondo will be very powerful
It doesn’t matter which country they’re from, they all have different techniques and philosophies with different sparring systems

❤️ITF
If thes two can't be unified.
At least Mutual Respect maintained.
For me ITF is the bst cause ITF is Traditional Taekwondo of Korea 👊🏻

Saya merinding melihatnya.
after all we are all taekwondo family. dont let the governing body of tkd split us all.

@@Miltroon Sine wave is BS, science disproves its theory but some ITF schools do it anyways.
0:47 i love itf

@@blueice472 k pop tkd it's just mcdojo lol
ITF would demolish WTF!!!
Then why haven't they already? It's never the style, it's always the practitioner.
