Fountain pens and fidget toys. Two things I love.

I like when y’all pull bits out of the podcast to make a video. I’m not a podcast type of person, just can’t do it. But when they are small like this and I know what topic is I’m happy to sit and watch the video

Lamy 2000 cap just rocks. Pilot Metropolitan capping is yummy. Pilot E95S.. mmmmm capping feel.
    I need a Diplomat Aero.

Thanks for mentioning the Kaweco Supra. I love taking it apart. I put a tension spring in all of my Kaweco pens to keep the cartridge in place. But unscrewing the pen and letting it bounce and jump off the spring is so satisfying.
But cartridge converters are the best fidget items; plunge, twist, squeeze. It’s like a pocket Bop-it.

So now we know the REAL reason Drew loves the E95s sooo much! Also, i don't know if Goulet carries it, but the Lamy Pico is also a great fidget pen -- not completely silent, but quieter than a regular click pen and it's almost like a magic trick :-)

Here I thought the question was about which pen was the best for twirling and spinning. That is the only thing I miss about ballpoints.

I do not think you offer this pen but a Dupont foundation pen is wonderful. When you push the cap onto the pen, it "pings". Their lighters provide the same. satisfying sound.

I love spinning my pens (since grade school) and have found my pilot metro to be most “balanced”. It’s a good weight, I know it won’t go flying off my hand and if I get super stressed out it feels nice having to push a bit to get the pen spinning. Also the pen being completely flushed/even helps make it feel more smooth while spinning in the fingers.

Lamy Safari al-star. The clip is kinda loose. Push into close onto cap. Pull it out. Thumb inside the clip from top. Very satisfying. Or holding the body in your fist and thumb pushing on clip to remove cap and then recap by never letting go of the clip. Never been disappointed by this.
Or the moonman c1 and inks…

I find the Pilot Vanishing point LS fun to fidget, especially since the click and twist is quiet. That being said, I just happened to discover that pilot is recalling LS pens due to rust forming from within the pen. 😥

Drew, you called me out on the TWSBI Eco with Diamine Shimmering Sands! I’ve done that EXACT thing before and it’s plenty mesmerizing, like a smaller version of a full Shimmering Sands bottle. I’m really attached to my White Tiger Pilot Metro and find I highly enjoy feeling the tiger pattern band, since it has a really smooth glossy-but-slightly-bumpy laminated feel.

Pilot Ageless/Timeless series, with that spring-loaded double-twist, is really fun.
Not a pen, but the Pentel Kerry 1035/1037. It's a wonderful capped mechanical pencil. The way the blindcap extends once placed on the non-point end of the pencil? Fantastic.

I got bored at a meeting once and thought I might spin my Caran D'Ache Ivanhoe fp. I mean, that barrel is so straight and balanced, it's so inviting. Turns out I needed to practice that one. Heavy pen, shiny meeting table, hairy eyeball from the boss 😳

I learned chess from my father when I was roughly 10, I never really got good at it to a point where it would be worth playing against strangers but it's an amazing pastime if you have the right people to play with in a casual way.

I do like the pilot vp, the click mechanism is very fun to idle back and forth, maybe not if you're in a quiet environment :D

  • @leaf4958
    @leaf4958 Před 2 lety +1

I do that with my ECO - it's so cool with Golden Beryl! I also like the cap on the Pilot Prera but could be annoying for others to listen to. Also Brian's frustration about no one playing chess is my poor daughter trying to get us to play D&D or even just a video game - she even said for her birthday she's going to get Mario Party and get us to play it! LOL

For chess we need Ballpoint pens (unfortunately) as we use carbon copy paper in tournaments. I also want a (silent) fidget pen for my chess tournament, found a twist ballpoint pen that could do the trick, hopefully.

For snapping ones, Pineider has the magnetic caps. I was thinking from the question about pens that can be spun, i.e. having a good balance to do so.

on your advice Drew, I bought a Twsbi Eco-T and Diamine Golden Sands, OH MY!!!!! I can sit and twirl the pen and watch the sediment for ages. My husband did ask if I ever planned to write with it....or just watch it!!! I do love the pen and the ink for writing with too. The grip on the Eco T suits my arthritic paws too! Look forward to friday nights every week, I have a Picard to watch, a Walking Dead and the Pencast. Best night of the week.

Since last year I use fountain pen and my fav is clear resin eye dropper fountain pen, because I can see the ink, I loved it! lately I bought chocolate ink color but too in red so i mixed it with diamine and wing sung ink (purple and writer's blood) come so nice like diamine chocolate but have nice shading. *surprise 😍 BTW, pilot petite, I use as eyedropper pen, with grease to seal. All good till now. Thank you for all your show its so helpful. See you!
