@@Bobbleheads56impossible we have a Kevin wildes
In Seattle, he refused to throw over the middle. He had the fewest completions over the middle in the league. With Sean, he is going to have to throw over the middle and he knows he has no choice if he wants to be a part of this offense. This is an area that all great QB's excell at with very high completion percentages. This aspect is part of clock management and controlling the tempo of the game. The long ball is nice but when you are competing in close tough games, you have to control the tempo. And because of physical disadvantages, Russ knows that his interception numbers could go up in this type of offense. He is in a tough spot with a coach who will not compromise they way that Pete Carroll did for his early years but of course Seattle was winning. If Denver has a successful running game that can dominate at the line of scrimage, then Russ will have an easier time.
The run game only needs to be efficient for Russ. With a run game defenses will have to account for the middle, and Russ is elite at outside throws. A lot of elite QBs can’t throw as well outside the numbers as well as Russ did in Seattle.
and the reason why he will not throw over the middle is becuase of his height, a good coach should realize this and not make him throw as much over the middle

The Broncos OC last year was Justin Outten. Outten's record as the team's offensive coordinator was 5-12-0, making him the least successful offensive coordinator in Denver Broncos history. Add Nat Hackett as the HC who himself is not known to be a very good OC and only had one good year with Green Bay as the OC....disaster waiting to happen with those two coaches. Sean Payton will have Russ and the Broncos playing very good and I predict the Broncos will finish second in the AFC West behind the Chiefs

You can argue that no veteran Quarterback in NFL history has ever dealt with the obstacles that Russell Wilson did last year. The most injuries in the league, an inexperienced coaching staff, traded to a new city with new teammates, new playbook, the worst running game in the league, bad special teams, the most penalties in the league, a rookie coach. Russell Wilson also had a shoulder injury and a leg injury. Nick is saying Russ was bad the last two years in Seattle but forgot to mention Wilson's finger injury. Nick seems incapable of giving a fair opinion on Russ.
Exactly, the last time he had a fully healthy season 2 years ago he was amazing and a top 5 qb
This reminds me of Carson Wentz in 2019, and he's not even half the quarterback Russell is. He is a Hall of Famer. Wentz is out of the league, and yet, Wentz had incredible numbers in 2019. Russell was horrific.
There's no qb in the league Thats healthy. There's also none with a let's ride remix. Ok, I lied about the latter. Watson has one on OF.
And you forgot to mention Wilsons' downfall in 2020. He played the first 5 games at an MVP level, and sputtered after a 3 INT choke job in Glendale (before that game he stated he loved playing there because he never throws INTs in that stadium). Seattle went from the highest scoring offense in the league (+ 2nd-3rd worst defense) to the 2nd lowest scoring offense and #1 scoring defense. You want to talk about finger injuries? Russ got outplayed by a broken finger Jared Goff in the wildcard round. Russ had 9 completed passes by the 2 minute warning... in the 4th quarter. Russ wasn't injured in 2020.
And he wasn't much better in 2021, save for a few decent games. The 0-17 drubbing in Green Bay was maybe the lowest point in his career at the time. Russ has not played consistently well since week 6 of 2020. The math adds up too, because he has 0 playoff wins since then.
The media blatantly ignored and didn't cover Russell Wilson's injuries last season cause they wanted to pile on. IF he didn't have that big contract they would have run him out the league a la Tim Tebow Style. They hate Russ for the same reason they hate Tebow. Difference was they couldn't run him out the league when he played at a HOF level and Russ has the contract to warrant him getting a better shot this year.
the scrum cap over the helmet is one of the funniest looks.
Nick is the only person I’ve seen point out that it’s been TWO (2) seasons of Russ playing like this. Why is everyone acting like last year was an isolated incident that Russ will bounce back from if he did it the year prior (in terms of team success)?
I’m assuming he won’t be atrocious again and that the team will have a much better record this year but he’s not getting back to how he was 3+ years ago.
Cuz he was still good in his last year in seattle but he injured his finger on his throwing hand and came back early from that injury. Nick is just a hater
@@daxgotfactsI mean that’s fair but to expect the Broncos to just be absolutely amazing this year is illogical to me. I think we should expect them to be better but I don’t think we should have lofty expectations.

The issue isn't them denying his great seasons. The issue is the media has an agenda to bury Russ and are blatantly leaving out that he had two injuries last season. No QB would the media go out of their way to hide reported injuries like this other than Russ cause of all the unique reasons why people have to hate on him from narratives about his style of play not aging well that they can use for confirmation bias to those who can't stand his religious overtones.
Let's also not act he didn't play like trash the last two years
He had some amazing seasons. He also had a top defense for most of them.
Russell Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett were the first Rookie Coach + Traded QB combination in NFL history. Hackett also hired first time positional coaches on his staff. Hackett is the worst coach in NFL history.
How many teams lost every game ? How many teams went 1-15? Stop this goofball idea that a team that won 5 games and lost 4 in ot was the worst coaching job ever... it's not even in the debate... the browns won how many games in 3 years?
Yeah but none of that matters to these casuals, It's like they just ignore all those facts and their main argumentthat is "Russ sucks"
"Russ is washed"
Don't you love how everyone tries to use the "first time in NFL history" argument to make a subjective point. There are too many bad coaching performances to choose from in the last 54 years to say this with any conviction.
@@Rempo35How many of those teams that lost that many games had a QB as accomplished as Russ before them? The Broncos would have won double digit games if they had even scored 20 pts per game. @truthbearer7891 you fell for my trap card... the 20ppg thing doesn't matter when they lost 9 games by 7 or less points... 1 more td in half the games and they are 8 and 9... and that's not counting the ot games... 3 fumbles inside the 5 yard line is coaching ? Meh....Wilson is just cashing game checks. Not expecting much more than we saw last year.
There some precedent. Warner had a really bad slump in the middle of his career.
EDIT: Wildes just said the same thing. But I also don’t thought of further precedent. Ryan Fitzpatrick was decent 2009-2011, then wasn’t for 3 years, then was awesome in 2015. Geno Smith was awful his entire career, and got MVP votes last year, his 10th in the league. Doug Flutie’s playoff year was 1998, his 14th playing pro ball. And etc.
He said great, to bad ,back to great was the question. Not great, to bad, to, to above average. That wasn't the question
Yeah Warner was wild. Went from great, to absolutely horrible, then to pretty good with the cards lol.
Doug Flutie was awesome for a decade plus in Canada
Nick is also blatantly ignoring the fact that Russ had injuries last season just like most of the media has.
Warner is a total complete anomaly. None of the other guys you mentioned were hall of fame caliber guys that were at that level for a sustained period of time then fell off a cliff. That was Russ. We’ve never seen a QB reclimb the mountain after falling off the cliff. We’ll see if he can change that
Randall Cunningham is the answer to a veteran qb who fell off and then made a tremendous comeback. He was actually out of the league for a few seasons.
Wilson needs a solid running game. That’s when the pressure is off and he can excel. He used to run a lot but with age that will go.
He’s looking much faster this year.
Nick loves to hate on the broncos and Russell Wilson
Russ was improved the last 2-games of the season after Hackett was fired. I think that is more indicative of what we will see this year.
THe media ignores this. They also ignore that he had two major injuries last year. THe beautiful thing about sports though is that it often gives players a chance to prove the haters wrong. JUst hope that Russ can stay fully healthy so we can see the best possible version of him with Payton. I predict that version could lead to the biggest old takes exposed in the history of sports takes with how many media members and fans completely buried Russ last year. It will also look real bad in retrospect as they have to explain how they buried a guy after one bad season with historically bad coach and injuries.
@@truthbearer7891it's 2 bad seasons though. Including with a Hof coach.
Why do you think Seattle was willing to move on from a "franchise QB" in a QB driven league? It was a bad trade. The problem was they thought they where just a QB away. The whole offense is a bust.

@@truthbearer7891 injuries are a factor. There's multiple reasons why he's sub par and fallen off that are more important. I also try to judge him in the best case scenario where he's not hurt. Because out of all the sports stuff we try to predict. We try not to predict or wish injury on a guy.

Brady’s last two years in New England were also mediocre at best. 29-12 TD-INT and 24-8 and then had back to back 40+ TD seasons in Tampa Bay. Coaching matters
Lol bro had bill belichek, Brady got a better roster in Tampa Russ got a worse roster in denver
Brady also went from the twilight of Julian Edelman and mediocre running backs to the prime of Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, the revival of Leonard Fournette's career, and one of the most stacked defenses the league has seen in the last decade. Roster strength matters more than coaching and the Pats in 2019 didn't have anywhere near as good a roster as the Bucs did in 2020 onward. And even then, the 2019 Pats were good enough to get the 3 seed.
Tbh that was more of a deteriorating roster than it was coaching.

Tampa had a top 3 roster in the league when Brady got there. Jameis turning the ball over constantly was their only issue.

I agree with Nick, if Wilson was as great as people think he is then he should've been able to do way more than he did despite his bad coach. He should've been able to at least score more than 9 points a game just based on the fact he's Russell Wilson. What we saw last year is the fact that Russ's success was because of Pete Carroll's ability to hide Russ's flaws. I still find it funny how many people think that because Payton is the coach things will change because Payton coached Brees another short QB. To bad none of you are willing to pay attention that Russ and Drew both being short is the only thing they have in common. Drew is a different kind of QB than Russ is and Russ doesn't have some of the key abilities needed to play in the pocket, you know timing routes, short passes across the middle, getting the ball out in under 3 sec. consistently ( Russ holds the ball for over 4.5 sec on average) and people think he's just going to turn into a pocket QB overnight, never going to happen. Russ will be out of the league before his over bloated contract is up, sorry you can't be successful as a running QB if you can't run anymore.
