When i saw this movie for the first time in childhood, i had the fear hangover for weeks. One of the best from shankar and vikram. 👍🔥
He's vivek a legendary comedy actor who's best known to be best about conveying social messages and about superstitions in his comedies. He's a close follower of dr abdul kalam. Sadly he passed away recently, of not he'd been the perfect cast for the character of nambi from Ponniyin selvan
I love this movie. Honestly I rewatch now for Vivek sir...God I miss him. His comedy is excellent with a strong social commentary. Definitely an influence on me growing up.
The movie had one of the biggest receptions back in the day when it came out, but now, MANY elements of the movie would feel outdated.

This has one of the best works of VIVEK, Sir. ! A comedian whose sense of humor is so relatable irrespective of language barriers. He passed away and made the entire state weep
A very good movie and approach towards corruption and degrading moral values, I also used to be like him till 25, after 25 I understood it's not going to be solved without population control. I'm happy that in my family and relatives and even in my community (Kayasth) we don't have more than 2 children and one of the most educated community in India. But democracy is not about quality, it's about useless quantity.😑

Also his split second transformation of his split personalities during his interrogation by Prakash Raj was the scene stealer.
Shanker's ability to handle complex issues and making even a common man understand the nuances makes him the top director.
Here you already knew about him having split personality......but I remember as a school kid I went to the theatre with my parents without any idea about story and was very very shocked upon the reveal .... It was a great experience as a kid.

Korbin thats Vivek. Hes a brilliant comedian. Im so happy you find the comedy in this film relatable. I love him. Hes not just a brilliant comedian (who always joked about social issues and used comedy to bring in more awareness) but also a great human. He's no more but he lives through these movies forever in our hearts.

Psychological Action Drama was a rare unexplored genre in Indian cinema and it's great that beyond mass elements this film went on touching mental health aspects with subtlety Ambi's backstory crushes you from within With a patriotic touch this movie is one of the most unique masterpiece of Indian cinema....kudos to Shankar sir and Vikram portraying this complex character with perfection
Ranveer's film is not a remake but a modern interpretation of this film. Directed by S. Shankar himself. It didn't get scrapped but postponed as S. Shankar is currently busy directing 2 films simultaneously.
I can bet, it will never be made.....

This is not Vikram master piece but Vikram big commercial hit. It's a different thing that Vikram master piece are also big commercial hits. Vikram master piece is " Pithamagan " starring Vikram & Surya , " Sethu " he acts as mentally challenged person, " Kasi " he acts as blind brother. These three are his classics.

I am confused after reviewing indian movies for 4 years you have not heard about Shankar as director. He was the trend setter for pan India movies.. all the new pan india he was the father. Almost all of his movies where mega hits and biggest pan india. He is the father and teacher of mega budget movies.
