Explanation about sound levels: They took the original mixed-for-tv audio, which included surround channels for effects, stereo channels for music, and a center channel for the voice-over, and mixed it all into two channels in order to post the program on CZcams; in doing so, they decided to give the content from all the channels the same volume; then they applied 'normalization'; and as a result, the levels are now all over the place. Notice how whenever there is music or sound effects, the voice-over drops to an unintelligible level. Having said all that, the issue comes down to QUALITY CONTROL.
This may be my favorite of Tony's fantastic journeys.

@perry92964 No kidding! An absolutely beautiful sculpture, apparently quite large and they show it three or four times for a couple of seconds at most.
@perry92964 Found it. "Caerphilly Castle, South Wales, UK. 4th Apr, 2017. The Welsh dragon sculptures Dewi and Dwynwen are on tour at Wales historic sites as part of Cadw's Year of Legends. The dragons are named after 2 of Wales patron saints. They are cut from fibreglass and weigh 2 tonnes between them. They were designed by Cardiff based prop specialists, Wild Creations."

I've had to turn this off because of the audio.
The background music is so loud I had difficulty understanding the story features.
WHY is the title about DRAGONS if you aren't going to mention them but twice real briefly?
Sound is terrible. Loud then can't hear the voice over the music.

I think it's a shame to rip out the E 2 R forest. It's a precious habitat and Britain has so few woodlands compared to cultivated lands. It has genuine historical significance, even if it is not ancient, and it tells a story about a particular event in history. Are they going to cut down the monkey puzzle trees too, and return it to bare grassland?
2btpatch it’s probably a political thing. Wales has an independence movement and having this bold reference to the Queen of England probably irks some people. That being said the trees are nice.
They should leave the trees, times change and growing trees anywhere has to be better than ripping them out.
Why does the sound cut out so often? The content is great but it was hard to stay engaged.

Excellent information and very interesting. However, I found the music terribly disracting and a little annoying. I had to keep adjusting the volume.
Very interesting, but I was wondering,....Could Offa of Mercia be the mythical Arthur? The names sound a like though spelt differently, while both were kings with a vision. Something to think about in my opinion.
Arthur was not a mythical figure. He was real, his life story and family lineage is well known to the Welsh. This has been and continues to be suppressed by the English. Moreover he was a Christian King as Wales had been Christian since the time of Jesus, which is not something the Catholic church wishes to acknowledge. The first Bishop of Rome was actually the son of of a British King, something else quietly forgotten. If you want to know about Welsh History ask a Welshman who can read Welsh, not an English historian. Common sense really.
This is a wonderful episode. I've seen it several times and do enjoy it. However, I'm very disappointed at the "tease" of the dragon. Yes, Tony talks about the dragon in the painting in the church, but they show a large sculpted dragon in several shots (going so far as to show its smoking nostrils) and then......nothing. Where is it? Obviously it's a modern creation, but, if something is shown in the show, it should be INCLUDED in the show. It looks quite impressive and intriguing. Disappointed not to have more information presented on it. :(

This was so cool, makes me want to visit the UK even more. UK and Ireland have always fascinated me. So sad that so much history is lost, and this was only 1200 years ago. It makes it even more ridiculous to think so many people think advanced ancient civilizations didn't exist many thousands of years ago, despite the evidence.

All Wales history is written and clearly decipherable .. his body is documented arriving back in Wales. A comet hit Wales and King Author ll came to USA with 1000 ships.

really, that was good clickbait, right? thanks @TimWebb for the extra info. With what we are learning now about the monarchy i have little doubt these reptilian creatures existed and still hide in the shadows, as opposed to Out of Shadows.

Why in the world did this channel ruin a perfectly good BBC Channel 4 documentary by reducing the sound in the voice-overs?
I like Tony and these documentaries but I just can't stand when they try to 'wokify' everything. Aside from that and the sound, not bad.
