I believe you can. Just try to save up some money like $1-$5 a day and eventually you'll have enough money to buy a booster box.
@@AdmirtheSableye Thank you for the advice! :) I have been doing it quite a lot lately, saving bit by bit towards each Magic release to buy a few boxes. I just need to copy Leonhart's set up at some point for better openings. I tried a tripod with a regular camera and to set up a phone to record on the desk, but that hasn't worked out great *yet*. It just makes me appreciate the quality of Leonhart's video's even more, considering that having the right angle, background, lighting, etc, all play such a crucial role to having these amazing box openings! But everyone needs to start somewhere I suppose! :D Regardless, really hoping Leonhart hits 1m subs soon^^. If anyone, he deserves it.

When you are making a trade with a friend, to not make a bad trade ALWAYS use TCGPlayer, and do not use 2 different sites. Certain sites like Troll and Toad overprice their cards a bit. When you are checking the price of a card for a trade, don’t use eBay or Amazon. There are too many varied prices of the card so when using TCGPlayer look at the market price for trades. The medium price is the median price of the selling options. Generally they are about the same, but if there is a big difference, that typically means that the card is competitively viable.

Another important piece when trying to determine how much your card is worth, is a lot of people will say "my card is worth $2,000 because that's what I see auctions for." Always remember that ASKING PRICE =/= value. I can list a base set Feebas card that's worth $.10 and ask $500 for it but that doesn't mean I'll get it. Just because I've ASKED $500 for it does not mean that's what it's worth.

My personal favorite to do this is Troll and Toad, it compiles many different offers of popular sites for making offers to buy and sell cards. I consider many different factors: grading, whitening, conservation state (available pics of the card are VERY important for that), edition, centering, popularity among fans of the game. My main goal is comparing my card's situation with the situation of the ones I see online (when I use Ebay I usually calculate an average price considering the relevant offers), I also use TCGPlayer as a secondary research page. To me, finding out the exact value of a card is something that should be made careful ALWAYS, cause it's important for several different things (how much you can ask/get/offering for your cards, making fair deals with your buyers/sellers about that, it may be long, but it's necessary, and I'm glad to see you take that seriously and share your techniques with your fans. Me and my mom went through an old box containing my childhood's holo Base Set cards (including Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur and a lot more) and they're all in plastic sleeves, who are also in hard plastic cases. So they're basically all still new. We're gonna send that stuff to PSA and see what happens!

I’m really grateful you went through this for us. I did a lot of collecting as kid but stoped for a long while. I came back because my friend motivated me to sort all my out cards ant it motivated me to start collecting again. So I’m collecting the sword and shield base set now. I do have a couple of questions still like how do you sell/ or trade common and uncommon cards since they are not worth a lot? Wish I knew what to do with all the extras.
My friend who does a lot of card games was talking about how expensive they could get and I figured I should try and see if any of my childhood deck is in the condition and typing that anyone would want it :) ty

A buddy of mine uses Troll & Toad to see the value of any card, wether it's Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, or whatever card game's in question. So, his influence has rubbed off on me, in that, I use Troll & Toad to look up values of various Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering cards.
My best card is a Gengar holo card that is worth 47 dollars. Bling bling

Another thing you need to look out for is fake cards when looking at the sold listings because say for example you have a rainbow rare most of the cards i see on ebay are fakes so if you see one sold recently for example $5 you might list yours for that when it's actually worth up to 10x the price.

A good tip to new collectors is if there's a newer card you want buy it now. Especially the zards. That damn shiny Charizard exploded and the set only came out months ago.

I have a collection worth 9.5k $, and my best card or most expensive one is a psa 9 1st edition holo erika venusaur from gym challenge and a psa 9 milotic ex from ex emerald, and the collection keeps growing day after day, enjoying like a kid and brings back so many memories from those happy days

I used to work at a game store and the amount of people that came in thinking they had thousands of dollars of cards... for reprint vintage cards. or 1st edition commons. Before I worked there, and probably still now, the store bought bulk and a fair amount were bulk or worth nothing. Literal bulk.
Had to bust out the old binder have some pretty minty first editions that’s pretty cool. Didn’t ever play the game they just lived in there. Don’t think I will retire on it but nice to know lol.

I like lower grade Shadowless. They are reasonably affordable and are still extreamly desirable...you wont loose money (assuming you buy right) and in many cases you will make a few bucks later on but will be able to enjoy it while you own it. I picked up a PSA 4 (4xxxxxxx range) shadowless Charizard a while back for about $175 shipped...its worth 2x that right now. There are opportunities with lower grade cards and I think many more people are able to afford the price.
U got me lol, I subscribed😒. I gave up pokemon because of what people thought and fighting someone for stealing them out of my backpack lol has made me abandon collecting as a young man. Now telling my kids how to pronounce the names and explaining evolutions to them makes me want to collect again.

I sold all my cards as well as my vintage Tomy figures from my childhood when I moved out of my mums house. I was very particular about keeping them mint. I had them all. Including charizard, he would have been mint.
I sold them all, including the toys which I since have learned sell like hot cakes too, for £4 at a boot fair. I can’t get this out of my head of late, knowing I could have potentially made £1000s from them. Had all the movie cards all gen 1 holos.
I think I’m going to need therapy for this...

So I have a MCharizardEX 108/106 SR from Flashfire I believe with very slight damage on the top and bottom, just a little whitening. I have done research and seen prices ranging from $50-$50,000. In your opinion whats a good price range for me to sell this at? I was thinking between $500-$1000 cause I found a seller who sold an almost mint card for $1294
With a population 1 graded card you can pretty much set the price you want for it wether its a 1 or 10 condition wise. Doesnt mean you will get what you're asking for it but you never know.
I have a base set charizard holo that would be valuable, but it is in what you would call “crispy” condition.

Also, listed prices on Ebay mean nothing. I can list a card for $20,000. Doesn't mean anyone will buy it at that price. I can't believe people still confuse listing price for actual value price.

The thing about Ebay, is that the prices will usually be at least a bit higher, to help compensate for the fees sellers have to pay on each item sold. So it's basically like taxes on the card.

I got 8 copies of the mew card that was given out in theaters that have been in a hard case since I got them
also worth noting if you have really good condition/mint vintage cards like feraligatr 5/111 unlimited mint condition goes for around 30-50$. these types of cards will go up in value as time goes on, and the better condition the more $$$$... certain cards you'll see even in 1st edition like neo genesis sell for the same price as unlimited sometimes...and vice versa back and fourth, its always better to hold onto the cards for the long run if they are mint and maybe get them graded eventually you could get double the $ than what a random ebay bidder will pay up front... also i think people search ebay for psa cards more often. so i would definitely hold onto any mint cards, get them graded and wait for the price to go up in value as these older packs like neo series are 200-300$ just to even obtain a pack not even heavy with guaranteed holo
I found my 1999- 2001 book..lol I have first editions . Specifically a 1st edition charizard shadowless . It's been in book I never played it. Also a blastoise and venusoaur. They aren't graded. I just found. I'd rather sell bc I'm not into them like when I was 15yrs old.

Dude... I had a Gem 10 1st Holo Charizard in the case and everything... And some a-hole stole it and a massive set of first edition holos like 20 years ago. And I just hope they aren't rotting away in a landfill somewhere because I can't tell you how hard it was to be 8 and not want to open that case just to touch it until I was 12 and it got stolen.
Liking the different camera angle👍 For MtG stuff on TCG Player I usually go by the Median (TCG-Mid) price which is closer to the average price for a near-mint card. So far that is usually the case for Pokémon, too.

The exact spelling on Ebay actually isn't always a good idea, because some people are lazy with the description. For example for a Gyarados Star (Delta Series), someone just put down "Gyarados". It was the cheapest one for sale, but you'd only see it if you typed in just Gyarados and took the time to search through the countless options that will pop up. Sometimes less is more when online shopping.
