Supermoto was all the rage in the US about 10 years ago. Europe's interest never wained, which means KTM stayed in the market and enthusiasts can enjoy the 690 SMC R.
I've learned a lot just watching you push the rear shock in a lot of motorcycles. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and gaining information to help yourself and others!
How do you do that bro i have a 701 supermoto
Thx Dave
Hi! I watched all your videos on CZcams but you don't have any videos on KTM 990 Supermoto, they are nice and useful, I am 60 years old I am Italian, I own a black KTM 990 Supermoto 2008! I have a problem...I would like to set the SAG if you were to correct my WRONG settings what numbers would you give!!! Front travel 200 mm... rear 210mm! We will never meet so THANK YOU!!
Sag is 30% of the total travel front and rear. This must be static sag plus rider sag. Set compression at 50% of the total range eg: 15 of 30 clicks. Then monitor visually, fork and shock travel used. Adjust preload accordingly to optimize travel. Rebound needs to be set when the oil is hot.
@@catalystreactionsbw ok! I'll try now!!! Thanks🤩
I have the 2014 690 Enduro R which suposedly should have 300mm of fork travel (according to bikez). When I push on the handlebar to expose the stanchion, I measure 261mm above the dust seal to the casting on the bottom.
Normal, or is there a problem?
I recently did a dump and run oil change and stiction grease trick which you taught me. Measured the springs just for fun and the left spring was 447mm and the right one was 450mm.
'You can Google anything with Bing'. Well someone could have some fun with that!
This is a bit older but I have this bike. Can you outline what is covered in the video on your site? Not really sure what to expect. Thanks!
Ergonomics, suspension settings for preload and damping plus geometry for fork position considerations.
How the hell was I not subscribed already?!?
Almost all ktm/husqvarna factory supermoto style bikes have very much rebound damping in the rear. Is it to stop the rear tire hopping when sliding into corners supermoto style?
It is for dual sport. A lot of rebound gives the rear more grip in the dirt when using the throttle. Same principle is used for SM but the chassis needs to be reconfigured for road use.
2 click on compression and 2 clicks on rebound?
yes correct
Does sag of 30-40mm still apply to this type of bike? Any one I sit on seams to sink a mile. Thanks. Love your work. Subscriber ;)
30-33% is a better starting point for long travel suspension as a total between static and rider sag combined. Thanks for subscribing!
Have you done any Hypermotard interested to see some tips for 939 sp model
Yes, several and we have a trailer on that bike if you search 939SP
Dave Moss Tuning yeah I found it I need more then the trailer 👍🏻
1:55 Harley riders are crying right now.
Dave, are you ever in the Midwest ?
Hoping to be there next year working with Kendall at Triple T Suspension at events as well as tour major cities IF the C19 regs are removed.
@@catalystreactionsbw , i look forward to it ...be safe .
Wasn't until I started watching these Videos that I understood how suspension is supposed to work exactly and how set up and tire pressure effects your ride quality and speed ,,Thanks Dave..
Thank you for wanting to know more to positively impact you and your motorcycle!
1:41 WHAT... i never see such extreme damping...
Maybe because it's a supermoto/ enduro and they differ from sportbikes?
@@thumpertorque_ of course, i mean suspension damping movement is extremly slow, way too slow for beign effective.
Who is going to pay $9.99/month for a one time piece of information?
A new member always ends up with 20-40 videos watched during the month. We track that data.
What you get is an education from all the videos, I’ve learnt a lot and my Smcr is better than ever. It’s not a one setup thing, mine will be different to yours because of a lot of factors. You learn to set your bike up for you.
I now I look at other bikes and can see how they are setup and I want to get them setup better!
You spend £1000’s on a motorcycle it deserves to be setup correctly and this information is cheap in comparison!
Thanks Dave for this👍
