Astérix et les Vikings (2006)
Based on the comic Asterix and the Normans (1966) - Zábava
Also one thing I can say I like about this film is it’s animation. Just the right amount of cartoony but not too the point where it’s off putting.
Smooth like butter!
Its a beautiful looking movie with a stellar voice cast. Its such a shame that the plot was twisted into something it originally wasn't, and relegated Asterix and Obelix to side characters in their own story.
thats why its my favorite asterix and obelix movie
Ikr, it should've been called "Justforkix and the Vikings". It was really awkward how the movie had them on its name, but made them complete supporting characters.
I never get tired of _Vikings_ visuals. Must rewatch this soon. I haven't actually seen _Mansion of the Gods_ on disc anywhere, but I really want to get it.
Asterix and Obelix calling each other "bro"? The US version sure is weird.
🎵This is Amorica.🎵
well you know, shrek style of humor we usually like
Ngl, it does feels weird they're using this kind of lingo but that's because I'm used to the UK translation of the series.
I have other personally Asterix and the Vikings is to meet the best film in the entire franchise the one thing I do love the American cast and each one is perfect for the role plus I enjoyed the story and the plight for both the characters of the boy and the girl and the ending is a very sweet song
This is my favorite Asterix movie.
As a fan from North America this is actually one of the harder films to find, which is a shame because personally I really like iy
This is one of the cases where I prefer the movie's story over the comic's, and it all comes down to one thing:
Abba.
Her addition, and the resulting relationship between her and Justforkix, just adds so much to the story that it really should be the canon version.
It looks like if Disney made this film, because of how the animation is smooth.
3:12 This was "officially" explained in a story album based on the movie adaptation. There it's said that "Vikings don't understand metaphors."😉
I’ve remembered this movie
Haven’t seen it for a long time.
From all of the animated Asterix movies, this is one is the best in term of animation (I still maintain that 2D is the way to go with Asterix adaptations, even if Secret of the Magic Potion was pretty), but the worst in term of story-telling. I find it too pandering to its supposed kid audience, and it manages to do the same mistake as most live-action movies and make Asterix a secondary character in his own franchise.
Great video btw, I always love your in detailed comparaisons. I would have loved a little more of your own opinion on the movie than a few quick sentences at the end ^^
I watched the movie before i read the comic book , so when i read the comic afterwards i was really suprised they didn't actually travel to the vikings country
When I was a kid, the only exposure I had from this movie was this sorta novelization that was around the length of a regular Asterix comic, but in prose form, and honestly it really wasn't a great adaptation of the movie. So as a result I was worried I wouldn't like the movie and put it off until sometime last year when I finally bit the bullet and watched it. And honestly I really enjoyed it, it's one of the funniest in the series and probably my third favorite after twelve tasks and Asterix vs Caesar
9:07 Just like in the beginning of "Asterix: the Secret of the Magic Potion", where You Spin Me Round is playing.🤣
Sutch a Great movie, plus some of the animation was done by the same animators who done klause years later
Okay that thumbnail is good
Another good video Jefferey, it’s nice to see you venture back to Asterix and The Daltons now and again. Thanks for doing these videos now and then, you’ve got a loyal following here. 👍
9:15 reality is often disappointing lol
Honestly I thought red bull was what gave you wings
Always preferred Animated Asterix movies over live action ones
Cause most times live action and animated don’t mix
Just look at Yogi Bear and Live Action Scooby-Doo
7:31 That's quite clever how the viking speech here includes some vowels that don't even exist in many other languages, like "Ø" (a Norse and Danish equivalent to "Ö" in Swedish and Finnish) and "Å" (the Swedish variant of "O").😉
The movie is nice, but honestly this movie focused way too much on Justforkix rather than the main characters, which is awkward considering that it is titled with their names.
The movie that introduced me to the comics. (technically it was the PS2 games but this one is what got me invested)
It was so well done as if the El Dorado team in Dreamworks had made it
Wow, english cast is surprisingly pretty good
Hi Jeffrey, are you ever going to do an adaptation alterations piece on the 90s tv show, the demon headmaster?
I read the original comic recently and it’s way more silly than the movie! As it should be
Which version of Eye of the Tiger did you use?
Still wish I could find a copy. Been doing so since I first heard of the dub when it came out.
Same, I'm surprised there isn't one available in the U.S., not even an older dvd. I had to find a free to watch site online to see the English dub. Hell they even got Celine Dion to do a song for it too, I would 100% buy a Blu-ray of this film
I never expected Rooster Alarm in this movie
*sigh* I'll look out for twins
Chief Timeandahalf
where can I find Asterix And The Vikings?
3:55 I was thinking more like "badass Pippi Longstocking".😉
0:49 Several of these character names were changed in different regions. In Europe, for example, Justforkix is Poppix and Timandahaf is Seismograf. Much more fitting, in my opinion.🤔
12:36 That was such a funny scene.🤣🪨
8:00 That's actually a lyre, basically a precursor to modern day harps and other stringed instruments.🤔
4:51 So that would explain their long pigtails.🤣
9:00 Nice reference to Rolling Stones.😉🪨
2:11 A common misconception: the vikings didn't actually use skulls as chalices, but instead hollow cow or goat horns. Although it wouldn't be that hard to carve skulls into mugs, since they already have a big, hollow space where the brain used to be.🤔💀🍺
10:14 Neither am I, as a kid, I found it incredibely stupid and just out of character for Asterix. Obelix fit the bill of doing such stupid things, since hes dimwited, but what about Asterix? He should realise that a boy with hands thinner than Asterixs would do less damage to ships, or be unable to lift menhirs himself, considering Asterix can only do that with the potion.
Asterix Congress America!!! Next
6:55 Well, technically fishing is "hunting for fish".🤔🐟
4:46 That's quite a difficult question, considering that any associations for the women's rights didn't exist yet at that point in history.😅♀
11:55 And it was this moment when he confesses that he's actually a pacifist.😅
6:22 Also known as Eiffelix in European regions.😉
asterix and the vikings Distributed by Warner bros
5:56 As well as modern telecommunication.😉📱
:D
Frozen did not exist 2006.
Neither did The Daughter of Vercingetorix, album released in 2019
@@JarJarBinks4ever lets juss say that this was ahead of its time, i suppose
But the first Cars from Pixar is
Ironically in actual viking culture a woman wouldn't have to disguise as a man to join a raid. Women were -for the most part- equals
3:52 She's my waifu!😍
This is more like Unreal 1, But instead of saving weaklings from Invasive threats, You simply put them through ayahuasca enlightment. In unreal 1 You go to Norway like location on Planet Na Pali to turn off the Mothership and let other prisoners clean the planet from Extraterrestrial Vikings Called Skaarj, While on Asterix and Obelix planet, You Simply give Weakling taste of Ayahuasca and make him surrender to Invasive Forces and Let him fight alone in this AlienScape, and this is not right, We know that in real life, Ayahuasca does not always ruin you instantly, but it can do that after several months, When JustForKix had a child with Abba, You knew this is not happy ending as this baby turned his attention to Vikings instead of Gauls. and Abba before that image treated JustForKix Like slave, He had to hold heavy things while Abba Had some sort of phone call. So Unreal 1 is the Most Moral Sci-Fi World, Better than the Asterix and Obelix, Because Nali are not war Hungry and you have a task for saving them from the Skaarj Extraterrestrials instead letting them go through this Alien Asgard Hell
Cringe movie
Tu eres mas cringe 🤣🤣
