He's got a talent for describing the experience to his audience.
That's... really descriptive...
Sharon, agreed
I wonder what kind of chemistry is going on here, if after 50+ years it literally becomes dirt?

Hello Steve, I am a Korean guy enjoying your channel very much. My grandfather participated the Korean war as a student soldier when he was 15 years old in 1952. He has often told me about the war and how tragic it was. Anyway, out of his war episodes, I always fascinated by stories about eating military food or rations supported by the US military. As far as I remember, he mentioned about US military 'C-Ration' saying they were so good compared to the Korean military food. He also told me he actually saved some canned luncheon meats for himself and family for later. Watching your videos, now I finally realized what my grandfather ate during the war and what he said look like. Thank you so much for your interesting video, and I'm going to call my grandfather to say about this today.

Cigarettes are required for a complete diet.
Wouldn't be a proper meal without them.

The army chefs really treated soldiers right back in the day. I’d enjoy eating one of these ration boxes back then.
modern mre’s are 10x better and more nutritious idk what you are saying?
I love these.
I only smoke on rare, rare occasions but watching you smoke those vintage cigarettes makes me want to run over and share one with you.
double rare
yeah it makes me want to smoke a old fashion 1960s model cigarrete like the ones called basic they taste very dry and old but the light head feeling is there.

I love these videos, everytime I watch one I get like a Christmas morning opening presents kinda feeling, extremely satisfying and educational

Anthony Massie Bear Grylls: all I heard was drink urine.
"one of my crown jewels, one of the most valuable and rare military rations i've ever owned." steve says as he breaks the undoable seal and eats everything
Rations were meant to be eaten and experienced. The videos will always be here to chronicle their contents. The experience is what matters in the end.

Plus it’s better than the can being eaten from the inside out by disgusting old food
But he has 4 others! This one was for sharing! Thanks Steve!
Sam Evans Exactly, these aren't going to last forever. By opening them and documenting them, he's at least preserving a record of them.
But the other 4 went to other collectors including the National Ration Museum.
"Jeeze ! I can't finish something that tastes like garden soil with a little bit of apple " or " OH ....NUMB TOUNGE DELUX " or "Thats just not fair " Is hilarious and Im rolling on the floor LOL. !
I keep watching these videos at night. I don’t know why they’re so calming.
they sure were generous with the cigarettes
It's part of their "patriotic contribution to the war effort", ie; tax exempt bribe to the government to deny scientific findings and disuade the medical community from publishing common sense findings.
@@ericmuschlitz7619 oh ok
Cigarettes suppress hunger. Very useful when your mre has little to no calories in it.

I have a fear of germs, and somehow I love watching people on youtube eat ancient, and extremely questionable food. I guess it's comforting to know that people can do this and somehow survive because it makes my normal life seem relatively safe. Also pretty cool to see something from the Korean War era, my uncle served in the military back then.
Hello fellow germaphobe. Steve is definitely gonna survive if an apocalypse ever happens. His stomach can handle so much.

Because it was better tasting in the 50s than it is now
This one is really personal to me my grandfather fought in the Korean War was a pilot and went down right before the cease-fire agreement a lot of people think that the war ended it still going on of the war never was seen again so this is probably something was probably his last meal if he survived especially now with remains being brought back I’m actually having tears thank you for sharing that had to been open hard to open this

"uhh... ohh... total rancidity!... uhhh..... numb tongue..... deluxe!"
"one of the rarest most valuable rations I own."

"No turning back now"
Aged tobacco is in many ways like wine. In the ARMY we would puff a cigar every so often. I took up the cigar "hobby" not long ago. I might have one once every 2 months in the summer. You don't inhale them, you "taste & smell" them as you puff them. I found out people buy hordes of cigars and "age" them for years before they sell them, sometimes 10x the original cost. I have a few I been storing for 2 years.
"I´m just going to save that for later..", lol
Numb tongue deluxe is my new favorite catchphrase lol
