I started laughing when “why can’t we be friends” came on 😂
It's funny, MLB fines players left and right for these fights, yet today you can search CZcams and watch them for hours, all uploaded by MLB...
@AJ2010 Hypocritical mofos, they try to monetize everything, even what they ""frown" upon...
Why oh why is THIS allowed in this day and age surely the game should be void abandoned
Same thing uploading clicks of PED abusers (Like Jose Canseco) hitting huge homeruns.
Baseball fights are easily my favourite CZcams rabbit holes to go down.
That is a fine observation, sir!
Any video with Piniella kicking dirt is absolute gold. They need a playlist dedicated to him alone.
Agreed, there's not nearly enough Lou on CZcams.
Brian Durkee Cubs fan since 2006. Can confirm.
Pinella and Dibble, lol
Livid Loony Lou.
Piniella is Billy Martin`s school.
3:10... they start playing "Why Can't We Be Friends?" by War...
+eric829 The PA people who do the music and the announcements of who's next up at bat, etc., have A LOT of fun with brawls, it seems. You should hear some of the music played over the PA system during a hockey scrum. ;)
I'd have played Kung Fu Fighting.
I think before that they played, mama told me not to come.
@@storyofcory The Montreal Forum played that song during Bruins/Canadiens brawls
Fortunately Randy Johnson's mustache was not harmed i the making of this brawl.
Neither was his mullet. 😂
The Big Unit declined to participate in the Big Dance.
I always love it how the commentators say things like 'this is a shame' when you know they're really enjoying watching this just as much as we are.
This was the good ol days when ALL Major League Umpires were old and fat
@@TheGtagtr
And your momma used to sing after every game.
It's like when Seinfeld says "That's a shame"
And the MLB CZcams channel posted this video
I tried but you did say it best lol
The brawl that almost ended Cal Ripken's streak.
Where was he?? I couldn't spot him at all...
@@erinmsomers Look at about 59 seconds. You see him fall on the ground and get back up. Number 8.
Yup. Went from “there was a brawl yesterday” to “The Streak could end tonight” the next day in Baltimore.
MLB needs Lou Piniella coaching again.
Bagel Brains Desperately! Would be awesome for televised ratings!p for sure. Although he might be enjoying his leisure time at a retirement home too much by now.
Me, my future wife, and my Mom were at this game in the upper deck when this happened. No, it wasn't a shame as the announcers said but freakin awesome. Never heard my mom yell so much in my life.
Was that one guy with the straw hat that pumped up the crowd there?
TheSubmissionChannel wild Bill Hagy, and no he was not because he was having a problem with the Orioles front office and beer regulations.
My boyfriend just showed me this and said he was lower level behind O's dugout. The rest of the game was boring as hell after this. Lol
major league baseball ratings have been sagging. they just need to bring the NHL back to MLB.
spatrick1964 I was there too with my parents and bro. We were sitting club level on 3rd base side. Really was a memorable game to see live! I never heard my mom yell so much either...least not at any athletic event. Except when my home Run was called foul by the umpire in little league.
i love how the pitcher was so calm when the batter was sprinting at him😂
That calm under pressure was vintage Mussina. He never got rattled by anything.
He even thru a little feint in there at the last second
"HOW COULD YOU TRADE JAY BUHNER?!?!!!"
It was a Seinfeld reference about the Yankees
Hes got a cannon for an arm.
He's got a rocket for an arm! 35 homers, over 100 rbi.You don't know what the Hell you're doing over there!!
bucky468 it's a Seinfeld joke, dummy.
Too bad Ken Phelps was the punchline.
First ballgame I ever went to. I asked my dad if these brawls happened every game.
I remember being being like 7 years old watching this game from Seattle 🤣
I love the Fernando Valenzuela sighting in his brief comeback.
3:37 Lou Pinella wakes up from his nap
0:48 Griffey recruiting Moyer for the M's.
0:58 you can see Ripken getting pushed and slowly getting up. He later said he hurt his knee and could barely walk the next day. Didn’t miss the the streak though
Pinella ejections are almost always the best
Nah, Earl Weaver got him beat in very way possible, including how to kick dirt on the plate.
Baseball in the 90's was so much more entertaining than it is now.
If a teammate is sticking up for a teammate, so be it. I use to listen to countless Oriole games on the radio. I miss sports being sports💔
Best thing was umpires didn't eject Mussina, he finished the game and won 😂😂
Season ended prematurely, thought. Right Close to the Baltimore All Star Game.
You've got to be kidding? Mike had the best control in the American League for 15 years. It was no accident he drilled Hassleman.
Why can't we be friends? SO FUNNY! Greatest thing ever!
"we might need to get the law enforcement folks down here to clean this up, this is unbelievable!" lmfao
Chip Carey is a moron.
Favorite line everytime i come back to watch this clip... LOL
What an asinine comment by the Announcer 👎
They're playing the song, "Why Can't We Be Friends" in the background. LOL.
Baseball needs more of this.
Back in those days Buhner was not the one to mess with. Guy was a beast
Randy Johnson, too. He was involved in an epic brawl with the Brewers at the Kingdome.
@@dathorndike4908Sutcliffe is a big man as well……..would have been interesting to see those 2 square off!
The most feared man on that field was Alan Mills. Nobody messes with him. You find out the hard way if you do. Just like Darryl Strawberry who while with the Yankees threw a sucker punch, then ran away to the Yankees dugout, Alan chased him down and absolutely decked him, and then dared any other Yankee player to come in and get him. They didn't.
"This is a shame" (Do we have all the cameras getting this Bob ?) "Oh what a shame. We just hope nobody gets hurt !" (Bob, do we have the center field camera on this ? ) "Oh the humanity of it all !!"
A bunch of names I’ve not heard in a looong time 😂
Unfortunately, a few of them have passed away.
If you're a baseball fan, you have to enjoy watching sweet Lou out there. What a classic clip of Lou freaking out.
the announcers are acting like they have never seen a brawl before
the hard part is figuring out who's hat is who's
There numbers are stitched on the inside
Usually it's written on the inside of the hat.
Y'all no fun lol
@@7thHeavenFreak4Evr, I never knew that. Thanks!
I love how the umps act dominant all the time and then when fights break out they just stand by like "Welllll shit."
Thank you for this video ,I've been looking everywhere for it !! This is one of my favorite moments in baseball history. Moose doesn't even flinch , he just drops his glove and prepares to fight . Please never take this down !
Seems like Norm Charlton is in every brawl I've ever seen...
He is one of the original nasty boys !
id rather watch a brawl then 20 ome runs
I was at this game with my bro, mom and dad. Unforgettable!
They're playing why can't we be friends 😂😂
Rofl
Mussina stood his ground like a boss.
Exactly !!!!!! That's why I love this brawl ... and Mike Mussina .
I've never seen a pitcher run away though, and Mussina then got taken down pretty easily. Standard brawl, nothing to make bigger than it is.
If you've never seen a pitcher run away watch Youkilis charge Porcello...
222333aaaaaa Porcello BACKED away because he didn't want to fight. Then he threw that bald headed turd to the turf. I suggest you review the tape.
No. Mussina knew he had his catcher behind the hitter. So he is a little bitch.
Anyone else thought the headline was referring to the mariners moose mascot?
No, because I know baseball history
Sean Wells Moose will be in the hall soon, he deserves it.
@@ynkrock7 FINALLY!
This was practically an epidemic in the early-to-mid 90s, guys charging the mound every time they got hit.
my favorite baseball brawl . Mike just drops his glove like ' come at me bro ' . Mike Mussina is a beast .
beast? he looked like a girl, didn't throw a punch just lunged and hugged him and waited for backup
Except, he was tossed to the ground.
I love Moose. I remember when he first came up from the minors. My family was on vacation in Ocean City and this young dude was throwing the heat!
Mike was holding on and praying his teammates could jump in and grab his arms before his face gets punched up. Musina a great pitcher, but he had this arrogant sob attitude that set teams off.
Saw him for 8 years with the Yanks. He was nothing but a loser!
The greatest hat throw down in MLB. The way he was calm and in a matter of seconds slowly wound up, torquing his body and slamming the hat in the ground to explode into a rage. That was hysterical. Watch it at .25 speed for full effect.
This brawl is all because he just wanted to give him a hug at 0:05.
The other players wanted hugs to so they jumped in.
I love this channel! Its like watching hockey fights but in baseball uniforms and fields!
I was an Orioles' fan back in those days, and a big Mussina fan. I am utterly positive that Mussina meant to hit Haselman. Mussina always had impeccable control. There is no chance he just let a pitch get away from him to that extent accidentally.
We plead the 5th on this
As he should of….they threw behind 2 of our guys…meant to be hit
Of course. He admitted as much and notoriously refused to pitch-in the rest of his career stating this very brawl as the reason.
Two of his guys had pitches thrown behind him…….guarantee that was on purpose
So nobody is gonna say anything about #9 kidnapping a random opposing player off the field lmao at 6:24
that's one of my favorite parts ... Brady Anderson just hauling that guy away lol
+lena breland lol legend has it none of them have been seen again.
RealJGII lol
@@lenabreland I didn't even notice this first time 😂😂😂 It's always the quiet ones.
In 1977 there was a brawl between the Royals and Rangers that went on so long, (20 minutes or so) police did have to break up that brawl. I wish I could find that one somewhere.
Pirates-Phillies, Pirates-Mets, Twins-Angels, Dodgers-Reds, plus Yankees-Royals in the ALCS. 1977 was quite a year for basebrawls.
I remember watching this game on TV when I was about 10 years old (O's fan) and thinking wow what a great brawl...still one of the best brawls I've ever seen! thought I'd never see it again!
"About 10.."
Just dont know your own birthday huh ?
Besides the fight...
this is why I love baseball.
Now this was a baseball brawl!
"This is AWFUL!"
No, this is what we wait for every fucking day.
This is the greatest collection of talent I've ever seen fight each other.
Seems like the old school brawls have been the best in MLB.
First of many memorable Lou Pinella ejections in his long storied managerial career.
This one one of the most craziest brawls in baseball I witnessed wow 😳
Best part of the brawl was Lou's slam of his hat! LMAO!
I am a Orioles fan and this is brawl is just as good as the one with Tino Martinez, Daryll Strawberry and the rest of the New York Spankees in 1998. Go O''s !!!!
Martinez was a bum and a classless one at that
Hassleman charges the mound after getting hit by a pitch and the announcer says, "What in the world is that all about?"
I think he was being sarcastic.
John Pickett yeah chip Carey was an idiot... when Griffey’s shoes came out in 1995 Carey didn’t know and was talking trash how ugly they were.
Mariners announcer pretending he didn't know Bosio started this mess when he threw at 2 O's players earlier in the game.
Lol Moyer and Griffey are bro-in' it up out there
Moyer? BEST? Nah, that guy never even had 1 decent season in his miserable life and could never win ANY big games! And Griffey was nothing after he quit the 'roids, which were probably a big part of all his zany career ending injuries! 'Roids ARE unhealthy to a body! Just ask Lyle and all those 70's/80's NFL stars, oh!, wait! they're all dead from 'roid abuse!
Nah I don't think Griffey did roids, his peak ended when he got to 30 years old and he pretty much kept the same muscle tone
Wow! I love how they both kinda flinched, then gave each other a big hug xD
Mussina waited patiently for the batter to come at him before getting it on and watching Sweet Lou look on calmly after all that fighting didn't look right so I waited patiently for Lou to snap and he definitely did as expected. Fun brawl!
Those were the good ol days in Seattle Griffey, Buhner Edgar and Tino Martinez Randy Johnson Norm Charlton it's a shame management couldn't keep that group together
SODO MOJO
Tino left for Steinbrenner money. Seattle couldn't pay that and keep the good guys that led us to 116 in 2001 together.
It's funny that Jamie Moyer was in the brawl on the oriole side, then a couple years later he was on the M's
This is the brawl the commentators were talking about in the 1998 Orioles/Yankees brawl that almost ended Ripkens streak
Jeff Tackett the catcher is my uncle. All he wanted to do ever since high school was play pro baseball, chew bubble gum, and fight Bill Haselman. He never had the opportunity to buy bubble gum so he could only accomplish 2 of his goals
Noah Lyche Hey Man! He is my baseball coach! He is really funny too! We work on catching drills in Camirillo!
Back when my mariners had some heart and would fight now we’re so soft
this did not age well
@@anthonywidmer5232 it really didn’t
Pinella was great entertainment. I happen to be an O's fan and grew up with those great and wild Oriole Magic teams of '79 through until '83. So for the first 4 years of that teams 5 year run I was fortunate enough to see Earl Weaver at his best. Well Lou is the 1 and only since who's tantrums could come close to entertaining as much as Earl's would. Lou was a damn good manager too.
I love how Camden yards is just playing some happy music in the background of the fight
The 90's the last decade baseball was great to watch
Did you see the mariners and angels fight?
I was there that day... one helluva long, crazy mess.
Johnson, Jeff Nelson, Jamie Moyer, Mussina, Haselman,Buhner, Kid Griffey. Lots well-knowns names in one of the best baseball brawls of all tiem.
The announcers concern is about as genuine as the commentary from Celebrity Death Match 😅
I remember when Cal Ripken ended up at the bottom of a pile and sprained his knee and everybody and their mother thought that "the streak" was over. Everybody but Cal that is. Whatta brilliant and consistent workhorse he was. One of the greatest shortstops of all time
All he cared about was himself!
Cal Ripken is the Keith Yandle of baseball.
Rick Sutcliffe? The same Rick Sutcliffe who was a pitcher for the Cubs in 1984?
yes
Yes. He was the Orioles opening day starter (and winner, a CG shutout) for the O's in 1992.
Tony Antonakas First regular season game ever at Camden Yards. 2-0 against Cleveland. No home runs.
"why can't we be friends" in the background. Classic.
"And Hasselman's charging the mound! What in the world is that all about?!" I don't know man, maybe he didn't like getting a fast ball thrown at his head.
Was this the brawl where Cal Ripken tweaked his knee and almost had to break The Streak?
yep
+4640jds well he still wouldn't of played if he pinched hit
yes.
Ken Singleton mentions it in commentary of a Yankees-Orioles brawl in '98 (Benitez throwing at Tino Martinez).
I'm reading Larry Burke's book "Change Up" right now and it sounds like he did play the next day?
Yeah look like he played the very next day against Oakland for the W. In Burke's book, Ripkin says he could barely walk that morning, and he called his parents to say "Looks like I may not play today." But he did, just played through the pain. I imagine he signed autographs in the ballpark until like 1am too. Quite a guy.
I loved the way Mussina reacted when Haselman was charging the mound.
It wasn't a smart idea because he was clearly injured the rest of the year.
He was terrified
The one thing I hate about these brawls are how the commentators complain about how bad this is and stuff like that, it’s part of the game and you know for sure that fans, such as myself, are loving it.
Lou Piniella said just in case that seven-course dinner didn't fill you fans up, here's some dessert...
lol who would pick a fight with Randy Johnson?
+TheAxeGrinder or jay bones buhner he was a beast also lol
A rat trap.
+TheAxeGrinder Sutcliffe looked ready to get it on since he was the tallest on the Orioles staff at 6'7.
Rick Sutcliffe.
"bone"......
Love baseball brawls 😀💪🏻
Yeah this was the fight that almost ended Cal Ripken's number of games played. Thank goodness it didn't happen.
Out of all the videos of fights this is one of the best ones I have seen I'm also a O's fan so yea this is the best one
LMFAO!! OH I love baseball brawls!!
bubblinbrownsugar616 the best
wow, imagine if that happened in hang gliding....the poor sky might be raining pilots, harnesses, helmets, and bits of broken hang glider.
How is this not the top rated comment on here? :'D
This was a great day…my GF and I were at this game and that night went to see Neil Diamond at the Baltimore Arena.. Diamond actually mentioned this fight at the start of the concert 😂😂😂😂
They were playing "why can't we be friends" over the speakers. Lmao
The Big Unit
He threw a few people around from what I just watched.
Love when he drilled the bird
Hahaha. I saw the title of this video and thought it had something to do with the Mariner Moose. Close enough.
Props to the DJ for playing War! Why can't we be friends??
6:30 Brady Anderson just picks someone up and carries them out of the frame lol
Juicing makes you strong.
kicking dirt over the plate is the most childish shit you can do
Was freaking funny, what a childish tantrum.
It was Piniella's imitation of Earl Weaver.
Actually, I think it was the late Billy Martin who perfected it. lol
defiantone Earl Weaver perfected it
Fernando Valenzuela 0:18
Must have been a pitching coach maybe?
Harold Frets no he was in their starting rotation.
lol The umpires just standing around waiting for the fellers to run out of gas. HAHAHA
This is in my top five fight videos of all time.
Moose hit him with the deke real quick. That's my guy.
Would you really want to fight a 6 foot 10 inch giant who has a cannon for an arm? I didn't think so.
Yeah, I remember that, I think this is when the ceiling tiles started falling down at the King dome and they had to be on the road with Pinella for all of their games! I think we had lost like 6 in a row too....then...of course...the "Mullet" wise cracks sent Charlton Johnson and Nelson over the edge!!!
The 90's kicked ass!!
Lol at the "Why Can't We Be Friends" playing in the background
Play ball, and a hockey game breaks out...
