I walked into the barbershop just as she walked on stage; seated in the barber's chair by the time they switched her mic and she started singing. I was so intuned to her performance that at one point i caught myself shouting "yes jennifer" when she went in on some of her notes. E'ery1 in the shop was like "the hell happen to him" 😂😂😂 then they realized it was this vocal beast on TV. I was blest by her performance.

A force of nature! Fellow Houston homegirl, I was blessed to see her in "Dreamgirls" on B-way, summer of '82. A life-changing experience....so much so, that I traveled to Oakland in '85 to see her in "Sing, Mahalia, Sing," which, of course, was incredible!
Blessed with a once-in-a-century instrument, she's gone through a lot in her life and career, but has emerged victorious, and it was a treat to be twiddling the car radio dial this morning, stopping on a station broadcasting Lewis' service right as Jennifer started this song. Not hearing any introduction, I thought she sounded familiar, but after only a few bars, I recognized for certain who it was! God bless you Jennifer!
