- Last week we showed you the first half of our insane Tasmania Mt Cumberland 4x4 Track with Shaun Whale and Graham Cahill. The Ford Ranger Raptor had a snapped steering arm and the boys had no idea how we'd get it off the track. This week watch as the boys hatch an elaborate plan that might be crazy enough to work!

What's the craziest bush mechanic fix you've had to do on the tracks? Tell us below
4WD Action not too bad but a radiator on a 4.8 gu on the beach bogged
Came across an older Triton a couple years back coming across the Simpson with a snapped chassis. Took out his battery, grabbed a set of jumper leads, arc welding rod we found in the bottom of the toolbox, two winches and jacks to get it back in line. Zip zip got him back to Birdsville we heard from him later👍
Lower ball joint. Had to send people for parts and spend the night on the trail.
Also on the Simpson few years ago. Suspension on my 07' Ranger decided it had enough. Front passenger completely gave way, tyre at 45 degrees. Worked on it for a few hours getting the snapped bolts out and ratchet strapping it back to the chassis and crawled for a day on heavy corrugated tracks into Cober (Oodnadatta said no can help). That happened just out of Delhousy Springs.
I have arc welded using Two 12 volt batties to get 24volts and jumper leads....
Watching Graham, Shaun and Jock cook. Seriously hoping that Jock becames a regular part of the team. Jock seems like a nice lad and he loves his four wheel driving.
Concurred!
@@leibrandtvisser6514 Agreed, more Jocko please!
Is that the guy with the 76?
@@NoaSeret D-max, Young tall guy with Graham.
Agree!
Can we see Jocko on more episodes....hes a legend
and that luxy please
Agreed
Id like to see Jocko and the berserker from legendex back!
"Yew!"
Yeah I agree and more of rocket....
Less of Shaun will also be great
Shauno: it's waste deep *points to his chest*😂😂
caleb wells he’s short, his chest is everyone else’s waist height 😂
@@PapaSeBakkie They're both short as haha.
Right ? 😂😂 not once but twice as well 😂
That’s why shaunos so much fun to watch 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Graham's arm is like the Ford right front wheel "lazy" 🤣...
Guys I absolutely love what you all are doing keep up the fantastic work and I wish l could have a job like this .... from South Africa!!
Im from South Africa 🇿🇦 who else is from South Africa
Well the ratchet strap helped him hold his coffee 😂🤣
From some of the terrain I saw in the Western Cape last year, ya'll could start "ZA 4WD Action!" I'd watch!

I just wanna tell you guys you are real life savers. I’m a semi-truck driver in the US and taking a break to escape the cab has been hard to do. Your videos have really helped clear my head and kept me looking forward to when this is all over and I can go weekend off roading again.
No one second skipped watching this having breakfast in my day-off.
Absolutely amazing.
You guys make us dreaming about serious 4wding.
Thx U from Italy.

One tip i learnt way back (1994 actually!), after breaking a trackrod and loosing steering, was to let the tyre down a bit on the "non steering" side, and pump it up a bit on the "steering" side, this means the steering side is carrying more load (more of the vehicles weight) and so can dominate the vehicles direction more than the side that is just flapping around!
I have been cracking open cold ones all day waiting for this. Now it's time for another. Cheers for the great content
Greetings from Poland
Bush mechanic's - good job with the steering rod. It's good to keep propper size U-bolts and a long screw or a piece of hard metal bar. 2-3 U-bolt clamps on each side of a broken rod, bolt it tight and of you go to a workshop.
About the fix: radiator hose once, steering rods twice, they simly snap, swaybar links, several times.
Keep up the good work, the films/views/people are amazing.
I was going to write this too... 2 U clamp on each side should hold that wheel.
I’m kinda surprised nobody has a welder with them, especially when you pretty much know you’re gonna break stuff. Could have sleeved that tie rod and welded it up
Exactly
@@630nick or a small oxy welding kit.
we always carry heavy leads and electrode holder with 3 batteries in series can do an ok bush weld
Jumper leads and a decent battery and you can get a small arc, but pretty sure the battery would be destroyed after
Maybe makes for better viewing and stories
This is definitely by far the best 4wd adventure channel on youtube...they have strong bond between each other, supporting and helping everybody in the team..they even got a lot of knowledge..keep it up guys!🤘🏻
The fact that shauno and the guys can still end the evening with a good cook up with so much enthusiasm after such long days blows my mind! Keep it up boys.
Definitely need to see more of Kaito and that ripper of a 76, the sound alone is amazing
His was an absolute trooper the whole way - solid axle for the win
look for Drifta, you tube channel
I am kind of surprised at how many times he got stuck though

"GIVE IT A BITTA MAYO" best line on the show so far
Or how about the other one. "Give it a bit of pudd"
Best Episode in a long time. 👍
Ps: Here's a free idea for ya. Give the D-Max to Jocko full time, and bring back Shorty ;)

brilliant, my thoughts exactly
Alexander Eberbach he still has it. What are you on about?
That was epic!
With Jock a permanent member of the team, you guys are the Three Amigos.
Loved it!
Graham, Shauno, Jocko, Kaito and Rocket Rod.
4wd action dream team
I would have been at that hut and gone before you guys on my own its called walk
Kind of astonished no one was carrying a welder or a spare tie rod on a trek like this - I always see those things snapping on the IFS offroaders around me so I assumed it would be a good part to carry. But then again you guys arre admirable in that you go after it the way you do, so it's fun as hell to watch. Cheers from CA
I've been looking forward to the sequel, thanks 4wdaction for making my lockdown a lot more bearable!!
Best part of Isolation is watching the best of the best on CZcams that is 4WD Action, Hope you are all keeping safe and well.

This is one of the few utube channels that I look forward to watching. Always entertaining and riveting, at least Shaunos cooking is. :D
One of the best hardest boggiest track I have ever seen, not doing that track unless I win Tatt's, good work boys as a, Dmax driver love it
The team work and problem solving in your videos blows my mind!!! I don’t even 4wd and love them but they are a bloody great display of people working so well together!!
Great video guys. The Raptor did awsome and good see Kaito out there. 🇳🇿👍😎
Phil Webber 👌🏻👌🏻
I had the pleasure of cleaning the drifta rig after this trip. What a mess 😂
The wait is finally over! I'm keen for this. Love you guys! Keep it up
The best about this is that you guys are NEVER gonna forget this trip 😍😁
Keep it going! Best regards from Sweden 💪👍
Guys, this was totally exhilarating, for me,blood and adrenalin was pumping, it was like I was living every moment,
After hanging to watch you guys on this track,2nd pt, was 1 of the most satisfying, watches we have ever had,
Hopefully 1 day,me and the boys can tag along with the crew, and experience this 1st hand, well done guys,👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Should do an episode on cleaning the vehicles or vehicle after a 4wd
Thomas Blakeway putting a osculating sprinkler under it and letting it run is a good and easy solution for the underside. Just have to move it every 30-45 minutes.
After a trek like that, you put her on gumtree.
Ya need a “lunacy mode” button for a track like this! 😂🤪🤪
Loved this vid I waited all day just watching my phone and waiting for that ding for this vid loved it keep it up
greatest episode ever, gotta love Tasmania.
Yew boys been waiting a long week for this one. Cracking a cold Iron Jack and watching this masterpiece unfold after a long day. Cheers legends!
Cheers from California! I love the show y'all do some amazing wheeling! Keep it on 4 wheels !
Absolutely love watching 4wd action. even though I cannot do it myself watching you guys is the next best thing,
Epic track, you made me feel like I was experiencing the adventure with all of you guys. Carry on
"Give it a bit of Mayooo" haha
Hey fellas!
I would love to see a video of how you guys clean your vehicles after a epic trip with mud all through your engine etc.
what’s products, what to check etc.
Cheers! 👍🏼
Or you could just search it ? There's so many videos of how to clean a 4wd
Kel-James Devon I’m sure there’s a lot of videos however I like the way 4wd action deliver their content to the audience. And I know shawno or graham would do a great video on what they do when cleaning their vehicles after a big trip.
Amazing!! I am desperate for a 4WD so for now I live off the action that you share.... one day I will get out there!!
Ive been checking everyday for this half of the video. That track isnt no joke lol. You guys are awesome. Great track, great mates, great time. Nothing else like it. Stay safe guys and cant wait til the next video.
Needed this video in quarantine
I almost forgot what it looks like outside.
What a legend effort from all on that adventure. Only started watching this channel a couple of weeks ago and I'm hooked!
Waiting for this all week. It was like going back in time to the days you had to wait a weeks to see who shot JR! Best TV I have seen in years and it’s 100% Aussie..👍🇦🇺
Been waiting all week for thus
cant wait to get home and crack a cold one for the 2nd part of $1000 track
You guys all rock and I love your video's. Just killing me with the lock down that its put a halt to more newer videos as I've almost watch every single episode till early hours of the morning. Keep up the good work and keep safe! Avid South African fan!
What a adventure boys! What a team work! Keep doing this videos for us. Wish you all the best.
You three guys in the kitchen, looks just like the three stooges xD
Ed, Edd and Eddy😂🍻
BEWARE....IFS owners. this is a case study for not using 35" tyres on your vehicles unless you've done some serious beefing up of your relevant components
The ranger raptor is engineered for 33's from factory, you'd expect it to be able to handle 35's the same way a standard ifs vehicle with 33's would you'd think
@@blakemills3295 you can break anything if you push hard enough. It's highly likely something hit it in one of the water holes. Just one of those things. 9 times outa 10 you might get no damage then bam one day u hit a branch and bang there goes your steering
@@blakemills3295 thats a substantial step up though , in particular wranglers which are physically bigger then an equivalent tyre ie: 32 v 32
@@alexfrankl7861 for real - I run 33s on my YJ and I wouldn't dream of going to 35s without swapping out my entire rear axle, axle housing, gears, brakes, and driveshaft. It's a huge commitment
Did you see how thin those steering links were? Even if they're made from some decent steel they're still smaller than an vegan anorexic's wrist.
Its amazing the way the 4WD Action team managed to pull that off, wow!
Woohooo!!!!!!best 4wd show on the planet. Another great show boys
Sho that steering arm is so thin, Im amazed.
*cough* just a Ford thing *cough*
But seriously though thing is a beast but all the driveline and steering shit is actual trash
Kaito is awesome let’s see more of him!
The best 4wd channel on CZcams, hands down. This episode is the best by far.
Amazing adventure, really enjoy it since 1st part till 2nd part of this. Cheer!!!!! You guy did amazing. Shaun, your food looks delicious. Graham, i cannot wait you to drive again.
I’d love to see more of the Zero dollar zook in future as I plan to build my own suzuki touring rig some day soon
A Jimny tourer? That'd be a tough gig unless you travelled in convoy
Zooks are ridiculously expensive where I am, otherwise it would be a good option for me too.

I think theres a lesson for guys who do serious tracks. Buy an old truck with a solid front axle and simple electrics.
Yep. I could never trust any IFS, electronics filled rig for the solo wheeling I do.
And some real offroad tyres, not those fancy MT's but real XT or tractor ones
Hey what would be the perfect 4wd
@@Bonezy1001 No such thing. Each person has different demands so what is "perfect" for me may be totally unsuitable for the next person.
Hi
I'm from South Africa and love watching you guys playing with the 4b's.
You always make it worth my time to watch and I never miss a show.
Hope to see you guys soon in SA, as I've heard there's a lot of serious tracks al around Cape Town where I'm from.
More so in the Mpumalanga region, but anyways......
Till next round.

I think one of my favourite parts of your videos, aside from the great camera work and presentation, is the genuine camaraderie and happiness to be out there. I think this is the first episode I've seen where you could see that it was getting a bit frayed at 1am, but even then, everyone's spirits were up. Best 4wd programming on CZcams, for sure.
Haven’t even seen the whole video but it’s going to be good anyway
Yeah nah I don't reckon I'm gonna take my pride and joy on that one haha!
Absolutely insane track! Good thing you guys are crazy! Thanks for the sweet content!
Absolutely fantastic! Something I wish I could do myself. Very interested in the Teflon drawers

These 2 episodes were just awesome! Keep up the great videos! Cheers from 🇨🇦
Has this one got a part 3 to it?
Helped my mate rebuild his old land cruiser ute. Replaced Everything. Redid all the wiring. When we were done went to start it. Nothing. Dead. Went upstairs for a cold drink. Came back downstairs 10 minutes later. Started straight away. Damn those electrical gremlins
That was an epic trip guys. Loved every minute of it. Don’t think I would be brave enough to do it but seeing it through your trip was awesome.
Love what you guys do, in the works of building my own 4x4 1997 chevy k1500. Thank for the videos from the USA.
Get jocko back in Luxy!!!
If you use 24volt dc... ie. Two 12volt batteries in series, + to - , and some jumper leads .
You could try and Arc weld using some low hydrogen arc rods.. Maybe Phillips 56s or similar.
I have used this to weld in the bush.. not pretty but does work to get out of a tight spot...
Why low hydrogen? Harder to get an arc going with. I'd go for a 6018 rod, not the best but easiest given the conditions
Welding with 56s will weld structual bits like the tie rods as well as std mild steel.. But General Purpose rods don't do as well, they may crack...
The other rod I wpuld recomend is a RSP. They are a lot more expensive though.
Cheers boys!
Absolute pleasure to watch U lunatics having so much fun!!
What a brilliant adventure! I really was so drawn into your trip, felt like I was there with you guys. I laughed such a lot, what a good bunch of buggers! Good on ya mate!
Shauno is always so calm in the cold wet and dark mud. One day it will all build up and look out..... No winch required 😂
Buy a Toyota people
I am from Africa and one thing you can be sure of is you not seeing a raptor offroading, even with the best mods, they still can't make it here
That's true.
From what i've heard all people run down there are Hilux's and Isuzus, is that right?
@pm same in aus. most cars offroad here are turbo diesels lnadcruisers and patrol
@pm I don't get why people take 70 series off-road, they're cr*p, hell the 76 in this episode was helpless compared to even the dmax and hilux
Awesome video guys looking forward to The next one.
All the different in-cab scenes in this episode were great! Everyone has great personality on the camera!
Awesome video as always, I am still holding out to see a Jeep do a trip with you guys
Here's a question for you (Love the Q&A's btw)... where are all the ladies? You don't ever have many women on the show, whether they are passenger or 4wders. 😂
Actually, a good really question
Maybe because they'd be better drivers and cooks...
Sophie Ryan. I know u are talking of gils as there wife's or girlfriend but I would like to see Dani Simpson (also a 4x4 girl at heart) with them. I think see can do it with the boys and FOR the girls. Wouldn't hate to see them on a weekend or for something like this. Shauno if I remember correctly she is also a QLD LADY.
@@martinkotze3351 I didn't just mean their wife's or girlfriend, I also meant guests on the show. The only women I've seen on the show in the past 3 years or so are camera women. I'd actually love for there to be guest female 4wders (like danie simpson), more so than passengers, I just meant that there aren't any what so ever. I know I would definitely love watching the show more if there was some women on it. 😊
Always a good watch the 4WD ACTION TEAM. Keep it up fellas. Love your work.
Loved this 1000$ track series. You guys are a riot.
