The lyrics, for those who have devices where the subtitles are too small. I dreamed about a beach Where many hundreds came ashore I dreamed about a beach Three houses were set on fire Many proud, young men They were never return home To their country What became of all those Who sailed over great oceans Odin, hear my prayer Where are my brother and son Many proud, young men They were never return home To their country I dreamed of a voyage I saw the shining, sharp swords The fjord was coloured red My beloved, he lay dead Many proud, young men They were never return home To their country The went to foreign lands The winter, it was hard and long I long for peace I miss those who left Many proud, young men They were never return home To their country Many proud, young men They were never return home To their country
Too much melancholy. This is from the head of contemporary people in the west. Tainted by secularism and Christianity. Vikings wouldn't have made many songs like this. You don't enter Valhalla sobbing about the past.
@dženita sa drine Don’t misunderstand me. It’s a beautiful song! But if you compare the Vikings ( they where a warriors/ raiders/ merchants) To other warrior classes and honor based cultures both historically and contemporary. Melancholy usually is a trait that doesn’t serve them much. Death is supposed to be an honor to Vikings. And not only death but heroic violent death or deed could get you into Valhalla for the Viking social class.

I dreamed about a beach
Where many hundreds came ashore
I dreamed about a beach
Three houses were set on fire
Many proud, young men
They were never return home
To their country
What became of all those
Who sailed over great oceans
Odin, hear my prayer
Where are my brother and son
Many proud, young men
They were never return home
To their country
I dreamed of a voyage
I saw the shining, sharp swords
The fjord was coloured red
My beloved, he lay dead
Many proud, young men
They were never return home
To their country
The went to foreign lands
The winter, it was hard and long
I long for peace
I miss those who left
Many proud, young men
They were never return home
To their country
Many proud, young men
They were never return home
To their country
