    KY4BDP - As of December 29th, the license for GMRS was reduced to only $35 for 10 years. This is exactly what we needed in the hobby to get more people involved. Stay tuned for Part 2!

      Oct 1, 2021 - still $70 for a new license.

    It's funny Comet calls that device a Duplexer because it's not. It's a Diplexer.

      You are correct, but it works 👍

      I assume the Bridgecom has an internal duplexer for the 462.700 and 467.700 pair? The comet "duplexer" simply facilitating the sharing of a dual band VHF and UHF antenna?

      @Ken Woomer - Congratulations! Buckle up and get ready for some cool content. Lot's of good channels out there. Look for an active club in your area. Or you can be one of our many distance members to LCARA!

      @@LCARAHAMRadio Once I know what I am doing, I want to make a repeater for my area. But first things first. Anyone in the Macon Georgia area?

    I wish there were a different name for the 'duplexer' in your video as repeaters also utilize a 'duplexer' which allow it to use just one antenna for the input and output. You might have skipped the portion of the video where the cable is being made. By the way I gave up on crimping antenna connectors. I use a great crimper, made just for that purpose, but the connectors come off. 73 de N2LRB

    Loved the new beginning to the video. And loved how more pictures were shown than usual so people get more of an outlook on what is happening. Great videos as always. Keep it up 👍- Kn4vxs

    Have you had problems with "grunge" while using that coax for duplex operation? The stuff that I have read on repeater builder discourages using feed line with dissimilar metals, and they recommend heliax style feed line on repeaters.

    very cool I was interested in doing this myself. Could you be sure to show cost of the setup you use as well so others will see what goes into a repeater?

    • @LCARAHAMRadio
      @LCARAHAMRadio  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Mike, interesting you mentioned the cost. In this series, we are using a repeater that was already purchased. The Bridgecom repeater will list for around $1200. We also have another series coming up where we take off the shelf components to make another GMRS repeater for much less. Stay tuned.

      Hello Michael, we are fortunate that much of the hardware we have covered has been acquired by the club over many years. Our CZcams channel is less than two years old so as we are performing maintenance and moving components around it is a good time to show that. For some other items we have held fund raisers and had raffles. We are not a big club but we are pretty active! Thanks for watching.
