Hey Ant lab, nice video. is it possible to let the shrimps hit a softer target? that way the impact might look more impressive because of a shockwave forming on the target
Some colored gelatin would be cool!
Agreed didn’t want to watch them hitting that
I just can't get enough of your videos. They are so factual and yet so fascinating and aesthetic.
"...I thought it was interesting enough to share"
You absolutely thought correctly, thank you!
This channel is one of the coolest things on CZcams.
Yet another channel with way too little recognition for the quality and care of the content provided. Keep up the good work
Whoa that's so cool! I was studying bubble formation a few months ago for an undergrad research position, it's fascinating to see how they can be generated by organisms. What incredible animals!
Thank you so much for this footage! Particularly at 1:01! Seeing the cavitation bubble collapse is SO cool.
Imagine punching someone so fast that light and explosion are created.
Pistol shrimps have evolved one of the most unique methods of hunting and defense. Good video ant lab.
Your work is amazing! Thank you for doing this Channel and i wish you all the best.
The pistol shrimp is one of my favorite crustaceans not only because of it's capability to destroy its preys also because they produce a funny sound
Shush what you doing here just take the hush money under the table or is it beneath the table 😭
Unfortunately you can’t see the impact of the “hit” against the metal forceps but apparently some shrimp have managed to break the glass of the aquariums they were being kept in using this tactic so yeah very powerful.
That's wild! Does the cavitation normally affect the attacker? I mean, the metal forceps don't really care, but I'm assuming that an aquatic creature would be affected by that bubble?
It's could cause recoil
They use the shockwave generated by the cavitation bubble to stun and kill small fish in the wild.

Watch the Documentary Super/Natural, water inside the bubble created by the shrimp is super heated to 7,000 degrees when burst causing a shock wave that stuns the polychaete worm that is attacking the colony.
Nice! Its like the 'star in a jar' experiment :)
Wow, the colors on those green shrimp! As always 👍
Crazy that a claw that tiny can create such a force. Great shit my dude 👌
That's amazing! Thanks for sharing. I'm learning a lot from your work.
Thank you so much. This is beautiful.
Always fascinating.Thank you.
These are fascinating creatures, it's mind boggling for me to think how they evolved to do this. I want to know more, thanks.
Your mind is boggled because evolution is a lie. JESUS is the way.
that mantis shrimp is straight up mt dew colored
Whaaaaaaat! I love 'shrimpoluminescent'!
👍🏼Thank you! Wish there was a straightforward way to measure that force on camera! So cool!😎✌🏼
"Shrimpoluminescence" now enters my lexicon!
I was just thinking about this channel!
I was binging insect flight videos and wondering "when is AntLab gonna upload again?"
This shrimp literally holds the secrets for cold fusion. Water cavitation allows for fusion like processes to happen. Check out the thunderstorm generator.
Wow, that's fantastic! 🤯🙌🏻
Fake , finger puppet
Mantis shrimp are my favorite this is awesome!
500uS, great photography.
Fascinating! I wonder if the bubble also affects the shrimp's own claw
Even if it does...they molt and get new claws so..it evens out
There's something really hilarious about the shrimp just having a gun. Sadly it wasn't enough for the forceps.
He has a really nice voice
Hey nice channel keep it up hehe
1:10 So *that's* how they make Shrimpola Cola!
hey please can we have a video showing the changes a pupa/cocoon goes through
Think about the eating habits of aforementioned species and the overall effect on surrounding water climate.
I wonder if the Slo-Mo Guys would want to work with you to get some really hard-core slow motion footage...
"How did you get this injury"
"From a bubble"
"A bubble"
"Yeah, a bubble from pistol shrimp" 😂😂
I wonder what kind of damage could that do to your hand. 10,000fps shrimp vs hand footage?
So, who's making the biomemetic mechanical pistol shrimp?
Alien tech on a little creature. Wow. Glad bigger land predators aren’t that dangerous.
holy socks! The temperature of the sun???? Yeah, that would be a problem for the target creature, for sure!
Does the heat that's there for a split second, that's comparable to the surface of the sun, actually do anything?
It's a mini explosion...it stuns or kills its prey. And hurts its predators like a gun shot
If temp is close to surface of sun, how are the forceps not incinerated?
real life pokemon with a real life pokemon move
Dope
Mantis shrimp have 14 different color cones in their eyes. We have 3. I want mantis vision.
I wanna see that shrimpoluminescense
There's actually a pokemon insiperd by these little guys!
Lmao that's literally a laser shotgun
Would getting punches by one of these shrimp actually do damage?
Yes, mostly if it hit you in the wiener
I sure don't wanna stick my finger in front of that shrimp.
try to use fragile things against them so that we could see the strength
Great video! good job man though maybe next time use some forceps with rubber tips because i can't imagine it's good for their clubs to hit solid metal, sure clams are tough but it's not evolved for metal so who knows.

First? Thank you for the content!
The eat mantis shrimp in China. Very popular, but I’m too creeped out to eat it.😂
Your joints do the same thing
NexT time use a wooden stick instead of hardened steel alloys. Think of his kicking legs, they are not evolved to break that.
Shrimp
hes slow in water img out of water
Underwater Jamie Foxx
Who come here after watching Project Power???
:O
Stupid bugs
